  1. I'm watching it in my room, by myself. I don't like watching big games like this with other people. I don't share this opinion, but I ended up watching the last two of Carolina's playoff games by myself anyway. I watch the vast majority of Bulls and Cubs games myself too.
  2. Ball State tallied their first road win of the season against Central Michigan last night, 64-57. They never trailed in the game. They're playing their best basketball of the season so far right now, which is a good thing because their next two games are against MAC contenders Kent State and Ohio.
  3. He returns his signing bonus if he pursues another sport. He wasn't very fast for a major college receiver. His strengths were separation from the defender and the fact that he could catch just about anything within his airspace. He's probably fairly fast for a baseball player, but not fast enough to justify making him a base-stealer.
  4. And when they get to the Super Bowl, they'll have the NFC stigma to deal with. What network has the Super Bowl this year? Pretty sure it's Fox. I wish it was NBC. cbs I'm glad it's not NBC. NBC here is about 20 yrs. behind the times on everything. They don't have an HD channel here. Ironic since ABC is the one without an HD channel back at home for me.
  5. Where are the Samardzija rumors coming from? Is there speculation going around that I haven't heard about?
  6. It is my biased opinion that the Cubs are lucky enough to have one of the best alternate uniforms in baseball in the blues, although I dare not say they surpass Oakland's green togs. It is also my biased opinion that the pinstripes are awesome - I can't think of one uniform I like better, and certainly not in the NL. In my ideal universe, we'd always wear the pinstripes at home (unless Z is pitching) and always wear the blues on the road.
  7. I love the blue jerseys. As far as I'm concerned its 1. Blues 2. Pinstripes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1314350974260. Those hideous gray road uni's. Werd. If they could put the gray ones through a bit of a redesign I might like them more. However it's not all that likely. I just think gray is a terrible, terrible uniform color.
  8. Reduced Duke coverage on the Worldwide Leader - one more reason to love ESPN's deal with the Big East.
  9. I know all the Cubs' numbers and faces anyway, but I'd still rather they put them on. They just looked dumb without the names.
  10. If I was a kicker/punter, I would absolutely try to stay in the limelight as much as possible to score dates. I am definitely that low.
  11. The Bulls jumped to the 3rd seed in the playoffs by winning last night thanks to the "top 3 seeds" rule. They're a game and a half behind Cleveland for the No. 1 seed.
  12. Excellent decision. He will likely be in or near the top five Heisman candidates preseason and should be guaranteed a first round selection next year if he repeats his numbers. I think that's highly debatable. Brohm, Ainge, Henne, and Booty are all likely to go ahead of him. The last spread QB taken in the first round was Losman and he's been very mediocre in the pros, not leading a lot of credence to spread offense QB's translating their collegiate success to the pro game. Drew Brees is doing ok so far.
  13. Irish lose 102-87. :(
  14. Irish won't be winning this game and they don't deserve to. They've had chances to cut the lead from 7 at least four times in the last couple minutes and every single time they've managed to get the ball stolen from them.
  15. Irish down 8 with 10 to play...
  16. I know it's inevitable that it'll happen, but I don't like when the pollsters put a team higher just because of their schedule for next season. What does that have to do with how good the team actually is? That logic got West Virginia starting off in the top 5 last year which IMO was very suspect at the time.
  17. ESPN.com confirming that Marty Schottenheimer will NOT be fired by San Diego. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2734129
  18. Terrible deal for the Pacers. Harrington's pretty darn good, Jasikevicius is improving, and all they get is a guy who averages 8 and 6 with a mammoth contract (Murphy) and Dunleavy + filler? I guess that factors out the Pacers in the Central Division race.
  19. Wow, I didn't realize LaRoche was so good.
  20. I think this time was a rarity since there've been a spate of new NL parks compared to the AL and Bud wanted to get them all All-Star games as soon as possible. I've never understood that line of thinking. The All-Star game should be held in the best stadiums, not just throwing them all around at whoever builds a new one. As for Wrigley, it last hosted one in 1990. It's gonna be at least another decade before it comes back, methinks.
  21. If the Bears were crappy and nowhere near the playoffs, would you guys be flooding the NFC Title Game thread? There's a difference between the volume of posts directed towards a team and how much you actually like them. Heck, I barely talked about Carolina this year outside of the weekly game threads because there was nothing to say. But they're just behind ND and the Cubs in how fervently I root for them.
  22. Carrie Muskat confirmed this sometime last summer, I believe.
