  1. That's just sad. Don't forget Ted Lilly. Pays to stay healthy I guess... Or have been a free agent.
  2. If that's all it takes, we've already got the division sewn up.
  3. I didn't think ARam loved the Cubs enough to throw 20-30 mil in the trash either. Give him 6/96. Give him it right now.
  4. ND is at Villanova tonight. It's only their second true road game of the season and they got clobbered in their first one, so I'm a little worried. The double whammy of ESPNU and a night class will keep me from watching it for myself though.
  5. I had the "pleasure" to watch NIU's game on Saturday against Central Michigan. Uh, wow. They flat out suck. That game on Saturday was probably the worst game I've ever seen on any level. They look that bad. James Hughes has all of the skills to be a great college player, yet he has no focus and no motivation. Mike McKinney is a good player at times, but also can be a very bad player at times. The rest of the team lacks basic basketball fundamentals and that all stems from the head coach. How this team got so bad in one year, I have no idea. Am I crazy or was there a Marcus McKinney at NIU that wore the same number? I'm guessing I'm nuts and it's the same guy but I thought there was one already. That guy #10, Paradise, can really shoot the trey - we would've probably run away with it early but for him, Lipkins and McKinney draining threes the entire first half.
  6. Jeter and Rivera both crossed the $10m line in arbitration years ago. They settled before the actual case, but that fact alone is enough to drive up later awards. Maddux settled at the $13m in arbitration a few years ago. While that's different than Zambrano's case, it's relavent. Don't they compared 6-year arbitration guys to everybody, as opposed to just other arbitration guys? I don't think 15.5m is all that outlandish, not with multiple pitchers making more than that. I would think he stands a chance to win the case, especially if the Cubs offer is just $11m. Had they gone to $12-13, I'd bet they'd win. But that is where they'll settle. Give Z 14M, then start negotiating something like a 6-year deal at 16 per if you can work it.
  7. I want to do it in one summer, but I know I'll be much too old to enjoy it thoroughly enough by the time I can afford such a trip.
  8. So it comes to this. Three games to determine the most wins of the year title between myself and Soccer... In case it got lost in the shuffle, I pick both road teams this weekend.
  9. What would be your definition of screwing it up, out of curiosity? You want CJ the most, right?
  10. The Bears' orange jerseys are among the very worst of all alternate jerseys currently in use in the NFL.
  11. Ball State breaks the skein and officially rids themselves of the title of worst team in the MAC by beating the new worst team in the MAC, Northern Illinois. Relatively easy 71-60 win. Our JC transfer center Micah Rollin, who never played HS basketball but is a 6'10, 280 pound behemoth, is developing pretty nicely.
  12. I'm rooting for the asteroid for now, but if the Bears win early Sunday, I want the Colts to win. A Bears/Colts Super Bowl might lead to all-out warfare here in Muncie. I wouldn't mind seeing one.
  13. BTW, Carolina fired their offensive coordinator Dan Henning, in a move I've been calling for for a while. Keyshawn Johnson claimed he'd only stay if Henning did. We'll just see.
  14. Does he know who the Raiders are? I'm guessing he thinks they're what he thought they were. Should he get hired I don't doubt that he has no plans to let them off the hook.
  15. PM Tim, he'll give you one.
  16. I spent way too much time on my "Are we the favorites or not" blog.
  17. OMC's sig just made me a bigger Saints bandwagoneer
  18. You think he's been given a free pass? From every article I've read about future HOFers, he's always been listed with McGuire and Palmiero as people who have the steroids scandal looming over them. In fact, I'm convinced that he'll receive the same level of media attention when his chance at the HOF comes up as McGuire did, and his testimony to Congress (or lack thereof) will receive the same spotlight. I think he's been given a 'comparatively' free pass. the controversy over him is NOTHING Like it's been for Bonds. It WILL if he's playing. And you're right- it will rain * on him when he's HoF eligible, too, regardless. Since McGwire retired first, though, he'll get the bulk of the heat and public debate...until Bonds. Sammy hasn't faced Bonds's style controversy because A) he hasn't had a book written about him that essentially proves he used steroids, B) he's not approaching Aaron's record, and C) he's not a prick (at least, not the type of prick that the media is obsessed with anyway).
  19. Well, I arrived at the Cubs and Bulls at separate times and for separate reasons. I moved to Indiana from South Carolina at age 10 and it was too hard to follow the Braves here so I latched on with my best friend's team which just happened to be the Cubs. This was around 2000. However, I'm also an admitted Bulls bandwagon jumper from the MJ years because I loved and still love the man (and there was no reason to cheer on the closest team to me - the Hornets - when I was little). I never had the heart to switch from the Panthers after I left South Carolina, but I'm glad I didn't. It's sort of fun being an outsider in this little Midwestern Bears/Colts universe.
  20. Are you from the future? Nov. 14th is a Wednesday, BTW. I'll be keeping an eye out.
  21. KU wins by three and Mizzou takes two bad shots on their last two possessions to ensure defeat. Tough loss.
  22. So Mizzou's up by five with under 9 minutes left...
  23. It just occurred to me how ridiculous it's going to be on here if the Bears do make the Super Bowl, and that led to me realizing it's going to be 20-30 times as crazy if the Cubs ever make the playoffs again...
  24. The Irish are now ranked 20th in both polls. And wow, Louisville isn't very good.
