    I'm surprised no one has mentioned Rogers Hornsby's .424 batting average in a single season. (Which I only became aware of when Mark Bellhorn of all people broke it with me in MVP Baseball 2003)

    More Froemming: He called Nomar off the 2nd base bag on Aug 12, 2004, while turning a double play, a call that is rarely invoked. Even more amazingly, Nomar wasn't just near the bag, he actually was on it. The Cubs lost in extra innings.

    BY FAR my favorite. And it's not even close. As bad as he was last year, his OPS this year is over a hundred points lower than it was in 2006. That's simply mind-boggling to me.

    All I know is that the 2007 Chicago Cubs are a living breathing example of the bad umpiring in MLB lately. From the hideous home opener with Hoye/Boyd blatantly screwing us on the corners, to Froemming and Wegner teaming up to get Lou suspended for a seemingly unprecedented 4 games, to Wolf mind-reading Ted Lilly even though his own crew chief was not blessed with psychosomatic abilities, to today's events, the Cubs have been involved, for better and (mostly) for worse, in some ridiculous exhibitions of umpiring.

    RynoRules is a great poster for the most part, but a) he's a Michigan fan and b) SSR's a cool cat and also the only fellow ND fan who's been around (and active) as long as I have. Gotta vote for him.

    I voted "You Could Use Some Baseball" because it's so easily refuted with "With a team a hell of a lot better than our terrible-ass team in Arlington"

    I voted Mizzou. I'm also shocked that Cubbies75 got obliterated so badly, I was actually looking forward to losing to him next round.

    I really like both these guys, but I'll give a slight edge to davhern for being a huge Bulls fan.

    So, Z pitches a two-hitter and gets the loss. The two hits are a dinky grounder off Z's glove and a pop-fly home run that comes after two possible strike threes in the AB. Yup. That's our Cubs. Oh, and I'm fully preparing myself for a long DLee suspension and a short Young one even though Young started it (and, apparently, incited it further), and the Padres all but said they'd drill somebody in this game.

    That's a game the Cubs never win. It honestly has been pretty admirable to see this team play well without their best pure hitter in the lineup. I really wish he'd get back though.

    I don't know about anyone else here, but I never look at the totals or read the thread before voting.

    I've been. The skanky ho's with daddy issues pull that stuff, not most others. I'm at the beach every weekend in one of the most morally casual places in the country. That stuff doesn't just happen all the time. It only happens with skanks. I guess my friends are skanks then. there is nothing wrong with that though :) Yeah, I wouldn't mind a few skanky friends here and there myself

    Rocket is pretty much Treeman if Treeman loved Dunn and Mercker, but Treeman's funny, and so is Rocket, so I guess I'll vote for him.

    There would SEEM to be no possible way on this planet that the Cubs don't kill the M's in this one. I predict the Cubs win, but it takes a superhuman Marquis game to do it. 2-1 win.
