  1. Hill's going to pitch great. Everyone does against these losers.
  2. Wow, just watched on tape, Z has suddenly decided to just pitch the best ball of his career. Bowen is amazing. REALLY good to see Ramirez getting on base and driving in a couple runs right off the bat. He's just studly.
  3. I gave Barrett partial blame from the outset. Z started the argument, Barrett chose to escalate, and they both chose to get physical at the same time. I don't recall Barrett escalating anything. He gestured towards DeRosa I believe it was to ask his opinion on something after Z bitched him out and then Z slugged him. as I understand it, Z said something to the effect of "dude, think out there, you threw the ball away and it cost us a run" and Barrett pointed at the SCOREBOARD and said "dude, look how many runs/hits you've give up" and then Z punched him We all thought that, but I believe I remember reading that Barrett was gesturing towards a middle infielder (again, I believe DeRosa) that was at the top of the dugout, not the scoreboard.
  4. I'm really glad Aramis is back, it increases the number of guys I actually enjoy watching hit on this team to 3. Here's hoping Sean nails down a rotation spot in 2008. He showed good promise in his time here.
  5. Good deal for STL depending on who the ship back. They're desperate for starters.

  7. At least we didn't get expensive arthritic crap in return. Yes, we actually got someone who MIGHT get better. Can't remember last time that happened.
  8. How old is Ryne? Seems like a funny kid :D
  9. And chalk another one on the list of stupid sportswriters.
  10. #10 in 2000, the only Sammy homer I ever saw in person. I told my friend at the time that it would not have been my 1st Cubs game without a Sammy homer. It was the first major league game I can remember attending, the only other one to that point being a Detroit-Cleveland game in summer 1987 when I was an infant in Cleveland. When the count went 2 strikes in that AB, with 2 outs, I just gave up. I knew he was going to strike out. Then he hit it, then he hopped, and I went nuts. Other than the division-clinching double play, it's the happiest I've ever been for a baseball moment.
  11. Walt probably gets more credit than he deserves, but he'd be a damn lot better than Jim Hendry. And he at least knows not to re-sign his flukey high-performance players a la Tony Womack in 2004.
  12. This is the 2nd round in a row where I enjoy RynoRules but can't vote against his opponent.
  13. There's one in the pics thread if you're so inclined. I like Jon, but he's never around anymore. And remember, I suck up to women. I vote for Slugger.
  14. Gotta be Vance, though against any other top seed I'd have likely gone with Choco. Bad luck buddy.
  15. Classic Cubs. I have to disagree with you Soccer, Howry screwed that play up. If he gets rid of the ball to Izturis, the worst that happens is that Lofton turns to third and the rundown continues. By trying to chase him (venturing to say that Lofton would beat Howry on crutches), Howry pretty much sealed his fate on the play. I have no idea in the freaking world why Lee and Ramirez took less money to stay here. Poor guys.
  16. I think we've found the George Mason of the tournament. :)
  17. Body-paint eater gets the vote over the self-loathing wonder.
  18. UMFan with the 1-point advantage.
  19. Like both, but voted for Raw.
  20. Take him. I don't care if all we get back is your worst player on your low-A team. Just freakin' take him. Please.
  21. I don't think enough people appreciate that 2001 season. Given what was around him, it was darn near miraculous. It's the closest anyone's ever come to single-handedly taking a team to the playoffs. That team doesn't win 75 games without Sammy. In my heart he'll always be that year's MVP, large-noggined record breakers be damned.
  22. 1. Game 1 NLCS HR 2. Everything in 2001 - .328/64/160, .437/.737/1.174, 201 OPS+, 37 IBBs, all with no one else in his lineup with more than 17 HRs, the greatest individual season I have ever or likely will ever see by a Cubs player.
  23. Does anyone have the WGN montage everyone was talking about? I missed it and it sounded pretty amazing.
