  1. 2004. Easily. That team should've won 100 games. 2001 was not a very good team. 2nd most homers on the team for the year was 17 - at the height of the Steroid Era no less. The best pitcher (Lieber) had a 3.80 ERA. The bullpen was average except for Farnsworth and Van Poppel. I've never believed that a baseball team can be carried by one player, but Sammy Sosa came about as close as there ever will be to willing a crappy team to the playoffs. That team had no business finishing above .500 let alone leading the NL Central into September.
  2. I'm honestly quite surprised that Soccer isn't winning this easily, no offense to dew. I always got the impression he was quite popular.
  3. UMFan contributes greatly to the lively Bulls discussions. Got to go with him.
  4. Haha, in my true style the thread basically just becomes an ND discussion. Raisin, ironically those two bashing pictures you posted were two that I considered for my sell-out avatar, but they were both so large that I assumed they'd be unintelligible if I shrunk them that much. And I also think UCLA will beat us this year, but it should be a thoroughly entertaining game. Yeah, we almost didn't want to give it away last year but decided to be charitable in the end. Since I'll be there for the game again this year I'm hoping for a different outcome. I would give the nod to Penn State since they won 9 games including a New Year's bowl game.
  5. I do not look forward to getting beat by you tomorrow Andy. It's funny it's LSU fan vs. N.D. fan. Too bad your team can't beat mine. Are we tomorrow already? I thought I was a 6 seed. (ETA: I guess not. Didn't realize I was ahead of so many) I wouldn't count yourself out yet. I've been known to ruffle feathers before. I won't pretend that the fact of this tournament being in June rather than, say, September doesn't help though. :D
  6. Wow, looks like he's off to a good start out of the pen. Keep it up Shark.
  7. According to Rotoworld, his OPS is higher than Carlos Lee's. His bat has come on just as strong as his arm the last week or so. I don't want to believe Z is back for good because that would fly in the face of almost every Cubs development in recent years. I'll just keep hoping he pitches well for now.
  8. Ryan put the Astros in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg Also, Z is making it very hard for me to be mad at him when he does this. :) VERY nice rebound game Cubs. Now let's go get Seattle.
  9. Despite TT being a dirty Cleveland fan I enjoy reading his posts, definitely a vote for him. I'm actually surprised at the closeness.
  10. People I've actually met have a big advantage.
  11. Banedon is one of my favorite posters, stemming mostly for being one of the Bears fans that was cool when I foolishly awoke the sleeping giants in the Bears-Cardinals game thread last season. Easy vote.
  12. Raisin could sleepwalk to the Elite 8 I would think.
  13. I think someone's got a crush
  14. I'm not understanding Derwood's lack of votes.
  15. I'm simultaneously shocked and unsurprised at yesterday's events. BTW, this is now 2 games that the Cubs probably win if not for a ridiculously incompetent/Cubs-hating umpiring crew.
  16. Agreed, his cheap shot should get him suspended for at least one game. What happened? Renteria tried to steal 2nd and slid into 2nd with his elbow out right into Fontenot's grill. It was pretty clearly intentional and if I were Fontenot I'd have laid him out.
  17. Well, I sucked last year in this contest and this year I'm blowing hard core.
  18. Looks like a party. I will miss this look, though.
  19. What I didn't like was the "regardless of stats" addendum. Well, if they both start sucking, and the stats show it, then maybe not. But if they play the way they should, then I have no problem with them at 1-2.
  20. Except for that, I actually like CSN's presentation better. Both of them equally piss me off with the dumb score bars that are way too big and come up way too often though. All Cubs fans care about is how Central foes are doing anyway.
  21. They should both be traded or DFA'd right now. I don't even care if we get anything for them, because we won't if we wait till the deadline anyway. There is no reason for them to be hurting us. DeRosa/Theriot should be the everyday middle infield, Fontenot can play 2nd for now until Ramirez comes back, and Murton/Floyd should platoon in RF or Murton should play in RF everyday. Just please, enough Jones and Izturis.
  22. Geez, Fonzie is just money throwing out runners
  23. Haha, Len being hit on by an e-mailer
