  1. Good old Coach Cal. If you play in a conference that doesn't prep you at all for the tournament you might want to play those games on the road. In fairness, Memphis and UT rotate, though I don't know how their Gonzaga deal is working.
  2. Until two years from now, when he's replaced by an inferior running backs coach just because he happens to be related to a famous coach from the past What? He is also the assistant head coach as well as running back coach. It was a Chris Simms joke.
  3. Ball State gets killed at home. Film at eleven.
  4. Back to normal for Notre Dame players this year (i.e. no one going very high). Was surprised to see Trevor Laws all the way down at round 3 though - and behind Tom Zbikowski, who I'm not sure about in the pros, to boot. I'd have thought Laws's insane 2007 would have gotten him into round 2 at least.

  6. I voted Cubs just because it looks like the Bulls and Bears are both a good deal of time away from being serious competitors again.
  7. ND clobbers Cincy 91-74. 31 in a row at home, 3-1 in the Big East. Good day.
  8. Notre Dame vs. Cincinnati tonight. IF (in capital letters) ND can win this game and split the two upcoming games at Georgetown and Villanova, they'll be 4-2 with no really tough road games left and have a very good chance at going at least 12-6 in the Big East, which would sew up a tourney berth. In my delusional mind I'd rather have 13-5 or 14-4 to up the seed and have a chance at winning the BET, but I'm not holding out much hope for that.
  9. in your opinion. in my opinion, it would be the most wildly popular playoff in sports, even bigger than the men's basketball tourney No, I'm talking about the sport in general. College football as a whole would not be as wildly popular if it had a full on playoff. And there's not a chance in the world that a college football player would be more popular than March Madness. There's just no way that's possible and there are a ton of reasons why. not to mention that it's not always true that the "best team won" at the end of a tournament, even though everyone says this. was NC St better than Houston in 1983? how about villanova-georgetown in 1985? villanova won the ncaa title as an 8 seed, which is the equivalent of the ncaa football championship going to a team that isn't ranked in the top 25. more than an insignificant amount of the time, the team that wins the title in ncaa men's basketball is the team that happened to get hot and lucky at the right time. i like the ncaa tourney for what it is, but i also like that the team winning the ncaa title in football is the team that was the best for 4-5 months, not 3 weeks. so LSU was the best team all year, eh? better than mississippi state, who was probably the equivalent of 1985 villanova. They lost twice in triple overtime in the best league this year, beating many good teams in the process. As screwy as this season was, LSU was the best team, in my eyes anyway.
  10. I'd obviously want Carolina. Sportscenter just annouced James Laurinaitis will return to OSU in 2008.
  11. I'm not even remotely surprised that these two drafts have us taking a safety and tackle respectively. John Fox is talking about getting the team back to the kind of team they were in 2003, which means power running (that's right, DeAngelo will continue to get 5 touches a game) and defense. Ryan Kalil's good though, so I'm not against taking another USC lineman, and Kenny Phillips seems to be a guy people are high on. I'll take either.
  12. ? Having Randle chuck it with 12 seconds left off the inbound. That was terrible. Oh. Yeah, that was infuriating. I don't care either way about either team but I hate when bad plays get rewarded.
  13. wtg bruce weber
  14. Looked to me like it was off IU. Illinois got it back though.
  15. Like I said the Big Ten officials are a joke. They have to be the worst of any conference out there. How they dont call that as intentional, and miss Davis's 5 steps earlier just speaks how bad they are. I'm sure you mean just big conferences, but you haven't seen bad officiating until you watch a MAC game. Very surprised IU isn't taking Illinois to the woodshed right now.
  16. Ball State wins their MAC home opener over Central Michigan. If Toledo loses to NIU later today, everyone in the MAC West will be tied at 1-1.
  17. You seem to really dislike the fact that people in central Indiana like the Colts. Seems like something that would be expected. I don't dislike that people like the Colts. I dislike the fact that it's all anyone ever talks about. Even during the regular season. I dislike the fact that stupid girls who know nothing about football walk around in Brandon Stokley jerseys and watch the games and talk about hating the Patriots when they probably don't even know what SpyGate is. Today, I dislike the fact that 15 students came to a Ball State basketball game (normally we get at least a few hundred even when they're bad) all because of the Colts...I mean, there had to be a FEW people who didn't care about that game. Call me bitter, you're right. Too much homogeneity drives me insane.
  18. On the one hand, thank goodness I don't have to put up with the entire Ball State community talking up the Colts' chances against NE...on the other, too bad I don't get to see all that talk end with a complete obliteration by the Patriots. Either way, thank goodness I'm done with Colts football for another season.
  19. I may be wrong, but I don't think Georgia was locked into the Sugar. The Sugar did have second pick because they lost the No. 2 team, and chose Georgia, but I don't think Georgia was predestined to go there.
  20. I'm a fan of a team who lost to them by 3 in a freakin Super Bowl and I don't have a big problem with them. Sometimes I think everyone hates the Patriots, but in reality other than blind Colts/Jets/other rivals fans I don't think such a great many people do. Certainly fewer than hated the Bulls in their heyday.
  21. They paid for that. This is the damn NFL, not Florida vs. Western Carolina. Everyone's playing on the same playing field in the pros. Pretty sure that wasn't the Patriots that fined someone for going to a funeral. And I have yet to see Belichick be an outright jackass to anybody. Frosty perhaps, but not outright jackass. Because no other NFL team ever gets into shoving matches or confrontations of any kind. I don't recall one cheap shot by Tedy Bruschi. Ever. What exactly are you talking about? I've seen a lot of Patriots game and haven't seen one instance of Moss being anything but a damn good receiver this season. THEY'RE 17-0 AND HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY TESTED EXACTLY THREE TIMES. WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU WANT THEM TO SAY ABOUT THE PATRIOTS??? It's spelled bestiality, that's not funny anyway, and Brady doesn't try to play any role except quarterback of the Patriots from what I've seen. And this post is why I hate Colts fans. That and the ridiculous blackout rules that causes me to miss games I want to watch so we can all see Indy blow out the Texans again.
  22. It was tied at halftime and within 1 score nearly the entire game. The Jaguars obviously had a solid chance to win. Deep down I knew the Patriots would probably win, but its not like the Jaguars were terribly outmatched Yeah, Tom Brady had one of the best games by a QB in NFL history and the Jaguars were still in it until about 4-5 minutes to go. I think it's faulty logic to say the Pats would've had to play terrible to lose that game.
  23. What an incredibly well played half of football.
