  1. Panthers franchised Jordan Gross and are supposedly shopping DeShaun Foster (about effing time).
  2. BSU shot 13/24 from the free-throw line tonight and lost by 5. This team drives me insane.
  3. Paradoxically, I love the blues, hate the grays, but sort of enjoyed the 'white or gray' thing with no alternates last year. I'm a little conflicted at this news.
  4. The called shot, just because in actuality it probably never happened (Babe loved publicity and in all likelihood decided to play into the mythos later in his life when asked about it). Buckner. At that point in the game the Sox were losing no matter what happens. The number one overrated play of all time is that one foul ball that went uncaught about four and a half years ago.
  5. I am really getting sick of UConn playing like crap for 32 minutes, waking up for the last 8 and winning the game. They did it against USF and they did it tonight against DePaul. I guess I shouldn't talk considering ND's lucky escapes from Providence and Rutgers, but I would love a Big East title more than I can possibly put into words, and all these teams tied with us coming tantalizingly close to losing is making me crazy.
  6. 4th Rnd. 37. Justin Verlander 38. Erik Bedard
  7. 25. Derrek Lee 26. Russell Martin 27. Joe Mauer 28. Brandon Phillips 29. Brian Roberts 30. BJ Upton 31. Derek Jeter 32. Corey Hart 33. Josh Beckett 34. Manny Ramirez 35. Dan Haren
  8. Hey, Ball State's won 2 games in a row! 5-19 (4-8) Oh yeah, and ND barely escaped Rutgers 71-68 despite a complete stinkbomb from Harangody (he still had 10 and 8 but took 16 shots to get that 10). Tory Jackson, a dynamite point guard, had 17 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds in his best game as a collegian. 19-5 (9-3). That's not gonna cut it against Pitt, though.
  9. There wasn't much to argue about last offseason, to my recollection. Most of the moves Jimbo made were roundly endorsed or roundly criticized here.
  10. That's the first I'd heard of it. I'd thought he was a Purdue lean from the get-go.
  11. The 42 ticket limit has been around for at least a few years. This year will be the same as the last few and I don't think last year's division title will change much. I'd recommend seeing how far you can push your computer at 9:30 since you have 30 minutes before tickets actually go on sale. Install a tab manager like Tab Mix Plus, which will allow you to better manage a ton of VWR tabs in each Firefox window, and get a sense of what will work for your computer. If your computer gets really slow or crashes, you'd still have plenty of time to restart the test. Has anyone ever had luck with Firefox? I have never got through using them. Tried equal amount of windows of IE and Firefox last year. I never got through with Firefox. Could be coincidence though. I did pretty decently for myself through Firefox last year.
  12. 2nd Round 13. Grady Sizemore 14. Prince Fielder
  13. 1. Alex Rodriguez 2. Albert Pujols 3. Hanley Ramirez 4. Jose Reyes 5. Ryan Braun 6. David Wright 7. Chase Utley 8. Jimmy Rollins 9. Miguel Cabrera 10. Johan Santana 11. Matt Holliday
  14. OMG, so that's where our band got that insanely stupid "Boing! Boing! WOOO!" thing. That is the single dumbest thing I've ever seen/heard at a basketball game.
  15. Does Harangody have any chance to play at the next level? I haven't seen him enough to form a true opinion. He'll probably get a shot somewhere. He's too short to ever be a star (he's listed at 6'8" and that may be generous), but the fact that he can shoot the jump shot and his incredible finesse around the basket may get him a spot in somebody's rotation down the line. If he gets more athletic that would help.
  16. Notre Dame's RPI is holding steady in the mid to upper 20s after last night. The only other positive is that after Harangody's 32/16 effort against one of the Big East's best defenders in Thabeet (not to mention a guy who has at least half a foot on Luke), there's almost no way Luke doesn't win conference player of the year barring a catastrophic injury. Irish tied for 3rd in the BE...as long as they can stay 2nd or 3rd to stay away from Georgetown until the Big East final I'll be ok.
  17. Hey, Ball State won a game! Now we're 4-19.
  18. So Illinois finally beats a team with a pulse and now you're awful talky. ND loses to UConn 84-78 despite a Herculean effort (32/17) by Harangody. Not a bad loss, because UConn never loses at Gampel Pavilion, but god, I wanted that one.
  19. Who is so terrible in the Big East? St. John's, Rutgers, DePaul and USF have losing records overall. I don't think I'd call any of the other 12 teams bad, and even St. John's and DePaul have their merits. I'd say, by way of comparison, everyone behind Minnesota in the Big Ten (5 teams) is plain bad, and there are 5 SEC teams (Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, Bama, LSU) that are pretty awful too. The great thing about the Big East is exactly that there are hardly any gimmes, other than USF and Rutgers away from the RAC. I'd say the same about the Pac-10...other than Oregon State, there isn't a bad team to be found. Hell, Washington's 9th and they just beat UCLA.
  20. Pomeroy must love the Big East or something - 7 teams from the league in his top 26. As for the IU situation, hire Ray McCallum! :D
  21. These Purdue guys are pretty good.
  22. Did you mean he was going to vote for Clinton? If the thinks Obama has a better chance of beating McCain, why would he vote Obama? Because McCain sucks.
  23. ND/UConn will be on ESPNU tomorrow night while St. John's and Cincinnati play on ESPN2 at the exact same time. That makes sense.
  24. It's not that he called it with 0.1 seconds to go, it's that IT WASN'T EVEN A DAMN FOUL. Quite possibly the worst call I've ever seen considering circumstance, and in my case, it cost ND first place in the Big East.
