  1. Murton really has value. I wish he would play here, but I get why they are dealing him. He'll likely be part of the package that lands Hendry Brian Roberts. I'd prefer him and Gallagher go toward landing us Blanton, and Pie and Hill and EPatt land us Roberts and Bedard, and Dempster and Marshall and Derosa land us Burnett. (Just listing some of the rumors in this thread!) Imagine, if you can... Zambrano Bedard Burnett Lilly Blanton  =D> \:D/ :pig:   That could theoretically work. Yeah, it could, though it would empty the farm, and would still leave us short two OF. (A CF and a 4th OF) But, heck, with that rotation, an NL Pennant would seem to be virtually assured. Virtually assured? How about this rotation: Prior Wood Maddux Zambrano Clement What are you talking about? Alluding to the 2004 rotation that was popularly thought good enough to win a pennant by itself.
  2. I've never followed a better pitching season than Mark Prior's 2003. At the time I thought he could be the best ever.
  3. How reliable is this insider? I don't know if it's the same one, but I believe the Tejada deal earlier today was broken by one of them.
  4. I'm pretty sure blind men in India have seen pics of OMC's girlfriend by now
  5. Really? Those were like the first books I ever read. I wore "Soccer Halfback" out from reading it so much.
  6. THE BRUINS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!!
  7. I like PTI, mainly because Kornheiser and Wilbon aren't prone to sweeping generalizations, stupid statements and general d-baggery like the ATH guys.
  8. Washington State went with Eastern Washington's coach instead of Brady Hoke. Michigan's now the only job he's been linked to, so if they don't hire him, we get to keep him for at least one more season.
  9. The heck with that, I want one with FUKUDOME on the back
  10. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/fukudomania.jpg FUKUDOMANIA!!!!
  11. It's worth noting that 4/48 is an absolute steal if true. Free agents are almost always obscenely overpaid, and the Cubs probably got close to equal value, if not better, for Fukudome. Back to your regularly scheduled FUKUDOMANIA!!!
  12. :D It's back!
  13. True. Even if it made sense to do that, they wouldn't, they'd rather draft kick returners and then pick 25-year-old Mormons at the position they should've drafted for.
  14. No, Miami gets to draft Darren McFadden. We're going to pick somebody like Overrated Big Ten Defensive Back (Gamble), Talented Running Back We'll Never Use Enough (DeAngelo), Half-Decent Left Tackle (Gross), or Chronically Injured Linebacker (Morgan). You might be able to tell my antipathy for the Panthers is reaching new heights.
  15. Carolina might start Matt Moore Sunday against Seattle. Why the hell not? He'd be the 4th different starting QB for the team this year. What a mess.
  16. Can you say "Way around the word filter"? I wonder how many 'inadvertent' c's will find their way into 'Fukudome'.
  17. foo-koo-doe-may is technically the correct pronunciation of Fukudome's name, but Cub or not, I know no one here will follow that.
  18. from the "this barely qualifies as news"-thread. Yeah, this and every other post made about a team hardly anyone cares about, which is about 55 percent or more of them.
  19. It's two weeks until Notre Dame plays again...they're all I've got right now so that pretty much sucks. They blew Northern Illinois out of the building last night but I want to see Harangody against the Big East.
  20. I'm honestly wondering what the Browns would be asking for Brady Quinn this offseason. Trying to set aside my obvious bias as much as I can, I still think he's a much better QB option than Andre Woodson or Matt Ryan or Colt Brennan or whoever else in the draft. Not that Carolina would make a deal anyway because they're scared of taking any offensive skill position player high (and the Dwayne Jarrett era won't embolden them any).
  21. Yeah, I don't like the NFL that much either. It's lagged in a distant third behind college football and baseball for some time for me and it's in danger of getting passed by college basketball too. Maybe I'd feel differently if my team wasn't completely inept.
  22. While I knew he was sitting out last season due to a transfer, I forgot Maurice Acker transfered to Marquette from Ball State. I don't know if you were there when he was, but what's his potential? He's doing well in a limited role this year. He was MAC freshman of the year the one year he was here, my sophomore year. Not that it's saying much, but he played the point better than anyone I've seen here in my four years. He was a good distributor and a decent shooter. We could use him right now.
