  1. So Bob says the whole idea of 'stepping up' when a player goes down insinuates lack of effort, then says that it doesn't.
  2. Man I'm drooling over that showdown with Ball State in Detroit. I have no idea what to expect this year. Nothing between 6-10 wins would surprise me. The defense could be very good. WR/TE could be as good as we've had in a while. There's a lot of talent at RB but no experience. The o-line could be really good or medicore and we all saw how bad Christensen was last year. I'm going to assume this is sarcasm. Ball State could win 7 games, they could win 9, they could run the table. There's no telling. Even if they did run the table, though, their lack of a premier non-conference foe and their league would likely prevent any chance of sneaking into the BCS.
  3. So the message here is that no Cubs prospect is ever going to be able to cut it. I wonder how Soto snuck through.
  4. The outfield I want to see is Patterson/Fukudome/DeRosa. The offense will take a hit, but that's the best outfield we can throw out there to get as many fly balls as possible.
  5. Tell me about. We are looking at the brilliant "4 second basemen" lineup. We could push maximum density with 5 DeRosa-RF Patterson-LF Cedeno-2b Theriot-SS Fontenot? -3b Cedeno would be the guy at 3rd, Fontenot at 2nd. Ronny played some 3rd when Lou forfeited Thursday's blowout loss halfway through, so that lineup can be done.
  6. Absolutely. I don't drink much pop anymore, but Coca-cola > Pepsi. It's weird because now when I do drink pop it's usually diet, and I prefer Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke. I haven't drank diet in a long time, but I'm totally with you on both halves of this. Diet Coke might be the single worst mass-produced beverage there is.
  7. We're 1-5 since I got a new job, I think I need to quit to save the season.
  8. This never seems to end... Hopefully Aramis's issue is not anything that is tragic or anything like that.
  9. The game is tomorrow, 6/30. :D
  10. I'm still not worried but I'm getting pretty pissed.
  11. This is one of the worst-umpired games I can remember in quite some time.
  12. I'm annoyed but not worried by these games. The Cubs would have to do a lot different from April-mid June to not make the playoffs at this point, and while I don't think we're a 100-win team like we played like early on, we're not an 85-win team like last year either.
  13. Coca Cola is first, Mountain Dew is second, and there's a steep drop off from there. I like RC Cola too but almost never drink it because I prefer the first two I mentioned.
  14. And after this game, I saw Roast patrolling the players' parking lot while a decent-size gathering of fans desperately tried to get autographs. I saw a few players leave, which was kind of cool.
  15. I saw Roast trying to deal with a drunk Orioles fan out in the LCF bleachers in this game. That 9th inning was depressing. The Cubs saw, what, 2 strikes in the 3 batters after they loaded em up, and didn't swing at either of them while hacking at everything else.
  16. I'm going to the bleachers for this whole series. Hoping for more brooms.
  17. I don't care. Many Cubs fans don't. And that's the White Sox's worst nightmare - apathy from their so-called rivals. Let's just sweep their butts out of town and be done with it.
  18. That's my thought. I'll go ahead and predict that Edmonds and Aramis both go yard tonight en route to the sweep.
  19. I've never been more wrong about a Cubs move and I'm loving it.
  20. Put the White Sox in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg and get the sweep!!!!
  21. Pathetic part is that's down about 100 points from where it was only a week or so ago.
  22. No way STL wins this game.
  23. I'm convinced the 3rd base umpire called it a swing because he was aghast that McClelland didn't ring AJ up to begin with. That was obscene. Speaking of, how wasn't that Cabrera foul ball called a homer? It hit the foul pole...
  24. Aramis Ramirez is the #1 badass of the world. Fact.
