  1. I'm doing Gameday Audio this year. I'm blacked out of Cubs games anyway. Why don't you watch it on TV or do you not have cable or satellite? CSNC is the RSN in this area and I am able to watch all the games (except WCIU because it's too much of a pain to switch over to an antenna to get it on channel 69). MLBTV blacks out in market subscribers which is why you cannot get the Cubs games (nor Sox, Tigers, Reds). So I am going to assume this is for when you are working. When I'm working will be nice, but I also don't get CSN+, so that's a fair few games I can't otherwise watch. And like last year I'm sure I'll be wanting to follow other teams' games too.
  2. I'm doing Gameday Audio this year. I'm blacked out of Cubs games anyway. MLBTV follows blackout rules too? I only want it for Cubs games. If the Cubs will get blacked out then forget it. You bet they follow the blackout rules. Can't miss more chances to screw over baseball fans.

  4. Well, I couldn't have asked for much more as a completely biased observer. Thabeet comes up short big time in UConn's biggest game yet. DeJuan Blair is and continues to be a monster.
  5. Wow, DeJuan Blair damn near broke Thabeet's arm.
  6. I see the Cubs finally stopped stacking the early spring with night games.
  7. Yeah, St. John's should never have happened. They'd be just fine without that loss, even now. I figure 9-9 with 2 BET wins would get them in, or 10-8 with 1. 9-9 with 1 BET win or 10-8 with zero would be bubble at best.
  8. Notre Dame played a stretch of 8 games where they played 7 teams who were ranked in the top 10 at some point during the stretch (Cincy was the exception). That may be the toughest stretch any college hoops team has played in decades. Brey should be hammering this point home every time he talks to the media. Politicking works. I will reiterate this point when Hasheem Thabeet wins Big East POY over Harangody - Calhoun's been all but carrying signs. Anyway, ND had some issues with South Florida today - they always do - but managed to win 67-57. I was really impressed with our defense in the second half. Harangody had 19 and 11, but KMac was the big deal - hitting five treys. He's finally getting his shot back, and just in time. West Virginia on Wednesday night will be huge. With the reconfigured Big East tournament, seeds 5-8 get a bye and play a 9-16 seed team in their first game, so getting to the 5-8 mark would help immensely. Ball State scored a huge victory today at home over the MAC East leader, Buffalo, 53-51. The Bulls had won nine in a row. Ball State's alone atop the West at 6-5 and gains a ton of confidence for if the two teams meet in the MAC tourney.
  9. This is probably my favorite Cubs' moment. I still get chills every time I watch that highlight. which game was that from? the hr in the 9th against the brewers? That one was the White Sox walk-off homer this last year.

  11. I exaggerate not one iota when I say there was not one even 5-minute period of this season before tonight where Notre Dame looked remotely like a team that could beat Louisville 90-57 under any circumstances. Luke 32 and 17, though I fear that the ridiculous Thabeet love combined with UConn's superior record is going to snake Big East POY from him. That is simply the best we can play. Dim tournament hopes still alive, I guess.
  12. the hats in the pic above are from the 4th of july or another american holiday. they aren't what the cubs will be wearing on the road. They introduced the darker hats a few years ago - as BP hats. I love mine! The typical "Cubbie-Blue" is a very harsh color (in my opinion). The darker blue is just simply a better looking hat . . . I know and love the hats of which you speak (I own one too), but the BP hats we have now are even brighter than the regular ones.
  13. Tyler Hansbrough remains a girl after falling down like a concussed man after receiving an elbow to the side of the neck (not the face). Oh, and Ty Lawson is much better than Hansbrough is. Lawson's the best PG in the nation by some margin.
  14. I'd say nothing, because, and I have no idea who originally made this point, but someone said something that made sense to me. Who's going to be leafing through baseball records without knowing context? I think any reasonable baseball fan knows to take these numbers with a grain of salt. Why mess with the numbers? You leave them there, and everyone knows the truth anyway.
  15. Apparently Tony La Russa's insane "if you can play infield, you can play outfield" statement is true in reverse too. This is comedic.
  16. With the exception of Outshined, who spent months campaigning for it, it seems the mods basically get together whenever they decide we need new mods and decide who would make good additions, then ask the people they decide on if they're interested. That'd be my guess, anyway. Oh, and yay for two ND fans in the mod ranks.
  17. It wasn't just that he hit 73, it's that if pitchers hadn't started walking him all the time halfway through the season he'd have hit 100. Same for if he hadn't been walked a gazillion times the next couple of years.
  18. Z withdrew mostly because he didn't like how he played in the early 06 season after pitching in the WBC.
  19. I've seen that picture of Sammy numerous times and I'm starting to wonder if it's modified in some way. I've seen many pictures of 'big' Sammy and none where his arms looked like that.
  20. Al Jefferson is all T'Wolves got. Everybody else was spare parts. Al Jefferson is a more valuable player at this point vs Garnett. The fact that Ainge and McHale are friends I'm sure helped facilliate the deal, but it was far from some lopsided exchange. Not only did it help facilitate the deal, but it was pretty widely reported that McHale passed up better offers for KG to get him to Boston. Naturally, Celts fans spent three months pissing and moaning when the Lakers got a similar lucky break with Gasol. I really hate Boston sports fans, by the way.
  21. That's an interesting thought. It's possible. Sosa was on that list, I believe.
  22. Ball State lost to the class of the MAC (yeah, not saying much) Kent State 63-56 today. No big surprise. Still leading the West, and we're looking in good shape for a MAC tournament bye if we continue our good play vs the West when the East is done beating up on us.
  23. wait, they used a replay for that? i thought they just missed the call live , and the tv guys were rehashing it. Nope, they looked at a replay.
  24. Maybe he used, maybe he didn't, but I find it telling that he's one of the guys whom everyone wants evidence about, and none has ever come up.
  25. I don't understand this at all. Brey has to be feeling a bit of heat. Every year it seems his teams underacheive. I'm not understanding how we came to his teams underachieving every year (he won back to back Big East coach of the year awards because his team did the exact opposite), but our abject refusal to play defense, ever, has clearly caught up with us. I guess it isn't every year, but his teams with Chris Thomas never did as well as they should have. This years team is easily a top 15 team, but they sure as hell are not playing like it. He seemed to do better with less talent during the Chris Quinn era. Yeah, I've had that thought before. I thought his best coaching job was just to keep his team from committing suicide in 2005-06, when he took a band of nobodies (led by Quinn) and they at one point were 1-8 in the Big East despite outscoring their conference opponents (they had a 27-point win and lost the 8 by a total of 24 points). I'm guessing there will be a little heat on him entering into 09-10.
