  1. Te'o is a huge get for Weis. This class is possibly his worst since arriving at ND, but Te'o makes it a bit better.
  2. For all the ink and bandwidth that's been used up about ND's recruitment of him (the leis when he came to the Syracuse game, Weis's special visit), they'd better get him.
  3. I really want to see you guys get one. I don't tend to care one way or another about IU or Purdue but this season is making me like you and dislike them (the reverse of what last year did).
  4. Bite your tongue. Lavin is actually a decent color man. Certainly compared to most.
  5. Well his nose got broke so I'm pretty sure he did get hit and wasn't flopping. I don't know how all of you can say he flopped when his nose got broke. That tends to make people fall to the ground. Harris shouldn't have been booted though. I could see a technical maybe, but not booted. I can't see anything. Harris was doing something every basketball player in the history of mankind has done when facing tough defense and Kramer had his face in the wrong spot. Absolutely ridiculous.
  6. Ok, I just saw the highlight of Harris's elbow. What a flopping little bitch Chris Kramer is.
  7. Ball State improves to 10-9 (5-2) by beating Ohio and takes sole possession of the MAC West division. That also eclipses their win total of either of the last two seasons (9 in 06-07 and 6 last year).
  8. Blair is underrated. Luke normally plays better, but the insane amount of threes we took made him a complete nonfactor until the late going. Notre Dame is just plain not good.
  9. They're not going to make the tournament anyway, but this is abnormal. They hit the first few, so they kept shooting it. If they don't start hot they usually start doing other things, but why not keep shooting it if you're putting it in?
  10. Wow, that'd be a nice leap for Provus. He's ok at play by play, but not great. I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for Cory's job if he leaves.
  11. It's a good thing a certain Bama fan friend of ours isn't an ND fan, because he'd have a very long response to this post. I hope we get this guy but he probably wouldn't be a RB at ND, since Charlie is averse to ever running the ball (but maybe with our crap OL coach replaced it'll be better).
  12. louisville/marquette is going to be a good one this year. its too bad we are only playing once this year, i'm just glad it's at our place. i am very interested in seeing how your coach deals with the pitino defensive pressure, now especially that you don't have any 6-10 guys who can hit the 3. Bum is not actually a Marquette fan. But that will be a very entertaining game and I'll be tuning in. It's pretty clear that UConn, Pitt, Louisville and Marquette are the big four in the league this year.
  13. Your team usually has to be, you know, good to win Big Ten POY. If Harangody leads the Big East in scoring and rebounding again (he's doing both rather easily right now) and doesn't win Big East POY, I'll be pissed regardless of ND's standing, and I'd imagine the same applies to Harris and UM. If Harris proves to be the best player, he should win the award. If not they should change it to conference MVP and be done with it. That said, I'm sure someone will prove to be at least as deserving for a more competitive team.
  14. ESPN Bottom Line had a blurb tonight that said DePaul's AD gave Wainwright a vote of confidence for 09-10.
  15. Fonzie is 38/47 in his Cubs career at stealing attempts. By all means, he should continue running.
  16. Ball State alum!
  17. that is one bear of a stretch. nationally-ranked g'town, then a relatively easy one with seton hall, but then four more ranked teams followed by 3 ranked teams and a road game against cincy. oh well, that's the big east this year (plus a random roadie against ucla) Yeah, this conference has been ridiculous ever since the mega-expansion, but this year is absolutely absurd. Ironically, I'd bet anything that most of the league's tourney teams will just totally be out of gas by the end of the year and make early exits in the tournament, leading to a slew of "the Big East was overrated" talk.
  18. And he's back to Tennessee, where he had originally committed. A bit of a "meh" commitment, to me, but we'll take him. Word is that Weiss pulled his scholly after he visited UT. So, it's not like UT stole him, though it is entirely possible that ND felt they were losing him anyway, so pulling the scholly looks more like ND cut ties than Oliver. They were probably losing him, but Weis is still doing his 'if you're looking, we're looking' thing, so it was probably a both-ways move.
  19. Georgetown loses again, making ND's only even semi-quality win since November even less so. Cuse loses to Providence 100-94. ND's next win will be Feb. 15 against South Florida. Pitt, Cincy, UCLA, and Louisville will defeat us in the interim.
  20. You don't have to tell me. I've been telling people this team shouldn't be ranked and probably wasn't going anywhere for two weeks now.
  21. so my theory holds for another game Sigh, I really don't want to buy that theory because things like "Luke shoots and makes turnaround fadeaway 20-footer over Hayward" just awe me, but you're probably right. Harangody seems to be ND's new Brady Quinn - denied his deserved accolades because of an incredibly disappointing supporting cast. Except while BQ tended to have worse numbers against better teams, Luke actually plays better against them.
  22. I wonder how many more games in a row we need to lose before it's obvious we won't get an at-large bid. We're not beating Pitt at Pitt on Saturday so that'll make ND 3-6 in the Big East. Luke goes for 29 and 17. Everyone else on the team shoots a combined 12/44.
  23. They're at least as likely to make the tournament as the other team I talk about, so why not? Notre Dame still ranked 22nd in the coaches' poll, which is a joke.
  24. Billy Taylor is executing a remarkable turnaround at Ball State. After recording two straight program-worst seasons the last two years, and after losing their best player, Anthony Newell, for the year with a broken leg in game one of the MAC season, Ball State is 4-1 in the league - 9-8 overall - and tied atop the West Division with Western Michigan (who they beat). The Cards beat Toledo today. The turnaround's probably been accelerated by the sheer horribleness of the MAC this year, but what Taylor's doing with a team full of JC transfers and true freshmen and sophomores is pretty awesome to see. Taylor is the nicest guy in the world based on my time covering the team last year, and I'm really glad to see him succeeding this early. He definitely would've had another year of honeymoon if BSU had sucked in the league again this year, but instead they could be a contender for the league title.
  25. Seton Hall upsets Georgetown today. Louisville and Marquette both unbeaten in the Big East, giving ND another game to lose tomorrow night (they host Marquette).
