  1. maybe it's because i picked utah st to go 2 rounds, but i'd like to think they're a pretty good team. their 30-4 record coming into the tourney would at least argue that. Oh, I'm sure they were good, but they also played like ass for the first half. Marquette should have been up by more at the break. It was when USU started playing well in the second half that things got interesting.
  2. I'd like to thank Alex Ruoff for going absolutely nuts twice against Notre Dame to knock us out of the tournament, then crapping the bed when I pick WVU to win two games in the dance. Thanks, punk. The Big East is 6-1, but 5 of the wins were slam-dunk picks and the 6th was Marquette playing like crap against USU. Round 2 should shed a little more light on things.
  3. I have Michigan State in the title game, but I'm starting to think Louisville will have to lose before the Elite Eight to make that happen.
  4. Double post
  5. Well, as much as I'd like to take a QB here, I think Carolina moves to replace recently-released Ken Lucas. So Carolina chooses CB Cary Harris from USC. Dew, you and Skyballer are on the clock with the Giants.
  6. Am I picking what I want them to do or what I think they will do? I have a different vote for each.
  7. If you are going to pick a Big Ten team to do well don't pick the one that just lost a starter. I didn't know that when I picked and I'm too stubborn to change my bracket. And I would've picked your Boilers to go farther if they weren't playing a Pac-10 team out West in round 2.
  8. ND pulls an escape on a Tory Jackson layup with 2.2 seconds left. Hopefully, Kentucky beats Creighton - Kentucky at ND would actually be interesting enough for me to go, even in the NIT.
  9. I had Illinois in the Sweet 16 by default (I was going to have whoever I picked from that game to beat Gonzaga). This sucks.
  10. Yeah, retiring this number for Maddux is absolutely stupid.
  11. We get another one on Thursday. An equally exciting matchup with New Mexico.
  12. I wouldn't have UNC in the Elite 8 in any other region. But they drew, in my opinion, the weakest region by far. I don't think anyone besides Oklahoma in that region can beat them unless something abnormal happens.
  13. I don't either, but I don't distrust them THAT much. I have them in the 16, but only because I have Temple beating ASU.
  14. I'm pretty sure he always does.
  15. I'm reminded: Are we going to do an NSBB Facebook bracket group this year as well?
  16. I lack any seeds below 6 (WVU) in the Sweet 16 and any seeds below 4 (Washington) in the Elite 8. This unnerves me. I picked one 12 and 11 apiece (Arizona and Temple).
  17. If the Netherlands made a run, Matt Lindstrom was on his way to being deported.
  18. Exactly. No one is going to go to this game. It's going to be embarrassing. No one wants to go watch a group of ridiculous underachievers bow out against one of Memphis's C-USA punching bags. I'm going to be at work so I won't even be watching. I can't even describe my level of dumbfoundedness over that blog rant, as if the NIT means even one tiny little thing.
  19. I have Nova in the Elite 8 and thought harder about having them knock off Pitt (my champ) than any other matchup for the Panthers.
  20. A) The NIT is not a meritocracy. B) You can have our 2 seed and play UAB, ranked 42nd by Pomeroy, and we'll play Tulsa, ranked 58th. (Again. Not a meritocracy.)
  21. Usually later tonight. Does anyone have a link for what site each set of games is played at? The bracket on NCAA.com has the site next to each pod.
  22. Cue the "this looks like a real Marlins game" joke. Not a ton of people there. Brian Roberts taking Chipper Jones's spot on the roster.
  23. Here is an NIT bracket projection: Link
  24. Notre Dame played six games against the four #1 seeds (playing all four), plus 2 against 3 seeds. Even with everything else that went wrong, they might have been close to the bubble if Mike Brey could game the system correctly and play a bunch of 170 RPI teams in nonleague play instead of the 250 or worse that we routinely do.
  25. We'll find out shortly, but I'd bet anything on one of the showcase teams going to Greensboro. Gus Johnson will probably end up in Portland, where there are two 5/12 and 4/13 games each, hence more potential for upsets.
