  1. If Pitt and MSU make the title game, I'll probably win some money (even if Pitt doesn't win), but I just have a really hard time seeing MSU beat Louisville and UConn back to back.
  2. Color me jealous. You guys had a great run. There's very little more satisfying as a sports fan than seeing your team with little expectation have a great season.
  3. I'm thinking back to all those possessions in the first half where Missouri's press left Adrien wide open for easy deuces. A few of those are better defended and maybe this game would've ended differently. I really loathe UConn.
  4. If that ridiculous shot by Walker decides the game I'm going to punch something.
  5. Missouri's missed freebies are killing me right now.
  6. This game is really really fun, even though Bilas is all over Thabeet, never mind that the best thing that can happen to Mizzou is Thabeet seeing the ball on offense.
  7. 7/8 Elite 8 teams (my only major upset beyond the first round was Washington over UConn, oops), but I'm nervous as hell about Mizzou and Pitt tomorrow.
  8. Haha, Meeks takes THREE SHOTS in the first half in South Bend and gets benched but he's called selfish other times? This guy's a complete nutcase.
  9. Well, this session was a total dud. I'd bet any amount of money on the Kansas/MSU and UNC/Zags games being good since I work during them.
  10. I really like three: Jim, Andy and Creed. I went with Andy.
  11. There's really no way we are going to beat any of the top 3 seeds in the East, so hypothetically, it doesn't matter which of the 6-8 seeds we end up with. Still nice to see the Bulls playing really well.
  12. I was going to make a short post observing the cool fact that the Big East is almost certainly going to have half the Elite 8 - maybe 5, but I don't like Cuse's odds against the Griffin's - but loukycub took care of that for me. Purdue's game plan was horrible. It's like they bought all the ridiculous Thabeet hype. If they'd actually gone after him, they might've had a shot. But the only times I saw a ball go near Thabeet were when Purdue players were seemingly handing him blocks by putting up soft layups. I don't recall more than 4 or 5 times that JaJuan Johnson touched the ball. Since I have Mizzou in the Final 4, it'd be really nice if they didn't display the lack of fortitude in that area on Saturday.
  13. PSU likes to run, and they like to shoot 3's. Cornley is the only consistent inside scorer, and he's only 6'5" (but has a nice hook shot). They may need to pull a "hack-a-Shaq" on Harongondy while guarding the perimeter and hoping for the best. If ND can't defend the 3, they may be in trouble, as the Nittany Lions have 3 or 4 guys with NBA range from beyond the arc. Hack-a-Harangody isn't such a good idea as Luke shoots FT's pretty well, close to 80 percent I believe. ND is long enough to defend the 3 and does a pretty good job with it sometimes - Jodie Meeks didn't get an open look until the last half of the second half tonight - but they're inconsistent defensively. PSU's lack of size will be a big help, ND's biggest weakness is post defense, as Luke's too short to guard most big men and we don't have anyone else big that's worth a crap on defense.
  14. No reason at all for Pitino to leave Louisville for Arizona. It's probably a slight jump on the totem pole (depending on how good a coach you think Denny Crum was), but a step down in exposure and conference quality. Then again, he sometimes jokes that the reason he went to Louisville was because they were in C-USA at the time...
  15. I hope Brey makes a play for Seth Curry. He tends to have good luck getting transfers if he wants them (Dan Miller, Dennis Latimore, Hansbrough, Martin).
  16. That was about as much fun as it's possible to have at the NIT. Crowd was about evenly split, so the ND fans stepped their game up, making it much more exciting. It's too bad Big East teams know how to play defense, because if we'd gotten that many open 3's all year, we'd probably be in the big tournament right now. I'm looking forward to playing Penn State. I've watched very little of them this year, so I have no idea what they're best at doing, but if they like to run as Truffle/Derwood have said, I like the matchup. We thrive on fast-moving games.
  17. No doubt in my mind that Skippy and Mather will inexplicably be serviceable infielders and both have great offensive seasons as well. Cardinals will be 2nd place.
  18. Notre Dame hosts Kentucky Wednesday night in the quarterfinals.
  19. The first way is right, the second one isn't but is more likely to be used in the US, and the best way to say it is "He didn't need his umbrella".
  20. Group A: Ryan Howard Group B: Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder Group C: Carlos Beltran, Evan Longoria, Alfonso Soriano Group D: Justin Morneau, Geovany Soto, Chris Davis, Dustin Pedroia, Joey Votto Wild card: PM'd
  21. That was rude to not let Andy have this one. Good point, I'm sorry. God, that was fun. Jarrett and Green were on the team that went 24-7 two years ago and went to the WNIT, and I know how sweet that must've been for them. I'm still digesting that. And dew, Tennessee had never missed the Sweet 16. :D
  22. I think he knows that you can't tackle shooters. come on, the marquette guy clearly jumped into the defender trying to buy a call. i don't care if you hate mizzou, try to show some objectivity here. theres nothing more irritating than when an offensive player does this. good no call. I don't like it either, but it's always called. Except for when Mizzou's playing I guess. Or if it's Illinois doing it.
  23. The Sweet 16's by bracket: 1-2-3-12 1-2-3-5 1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4
  24. All that scariness but it looks like I'm going to escape these three games unscathed. I could've lost three of my Elite Eight and half my Final Four if it had gone the other way.
  25. Wow, unbelievable. How do you step over the line?
