  1. Corwin Brown - late of the ND associate head coach/secondary coach position - supposedly interviewed at Buffalo to replace Turner Gill.
  2. Surely they have a few bucks laying around. Have they really splurged on anything since Miguel Tejada? Was it Baltimore or Washington that made a massive offer to Teixeira last offseason? I think it was the Orioles, but I'm not sure. They both did IIRC.
  3. Missouri released a statement today saying they'd evaluate the idea if the Big Ten approached them (but they haven't yet).
  4. I'd say winning at Philly is more like a colossal if than merely a big one. Philly might be the 2nd best team in the NFC, depending on one's opinion of Minnesota.
  5. TCU would make a ton of sense for the Big 12. Weren't they the team that got passed up for Baylor when the SWC/Big 8 merger happened? It'd be poetic justice in a sense.
  6. Poor guy has a look on his face that screams, "Dear God, I hope this doesn't get on the Internet". Probably praying to get drafted by a warm weather team.
  7. Looks like the Panthers have a shot at 2 Sunday Night Football humiliations in 3 weeks if the Saints get to 15-0.
  8. Never heard either one described that way. Always heard IU and Wisconsin, sometimes Ohio State.
  9. Michigan at the end had a wild lateral play and Nebraska's entire team ran onto the field before the play was over, which probably should have resulted in a penalty.
  10. Unknown whether Dan LeFevour left a team meeting early and popped off to the press about Jones 'leaving for the money'. I wonder who Central will get now.
  11. This would be the best move. They could move it between Ford Field*, Lucas Oil and Soldier Field. If they wanted to branch out further they could include the Bengals' stadium, the Browns' stadium, and/or the Metrodome into that rotation. * There is the MAC title game there so that could create some conflicts, but the MAC should be holding their title game elsewhere anyway, and I'm sure Ford Field would jump at the chance to have a Big Tweleven title game.
  12. Not that I want to see it on the list, but the Bush Push game could just as easily be on it, and I'm sure there are a slew of examples that fans of other teams could come up with too.
  13. The Big Ten's official statement on expansion is at this link. Basically, it says "we are going to start looking around to see who wants to join and if it's cool with our presidents if they do".
  14. Compensation pick? What sort of devilry is this? How in the world do teams go about getting crazy things like compensation picks? /sarcasm
  15. Yay for completely meaningless prime-time games...beat Favre I guess.
  16. Please oh please sign that deal Matt Holliday. That would make it a hell of a lot harder to lock up Pujols.
  17. The Pac-10 was better than the SEC this year. Significantly better, actually.
  18. plus, i mean, it's ball state Exactly, it's Ball [expletive] State, and because it's Ball [expletive] State, 12-0 will never, ever happen again. I'm really not sure why bitterness about the way that ended is so surprising.
  19. The Prairie View A&M head coach really needs a promotion quickly. PVAM lost some 80 straight games and their worst loss was 92-0 in that stretch. They rebounded and won the SWAC championship this year. But yeah, Gill is a very good hire and, I think, is a very good coach. Al Golden should be getting a lot of interest quite soon as well if he can keep Temple in the 6-8 win range. Joe Schad reported that Notre Dame actually interviewed Golden. Granted it was almost certainly a "let's get acquainted with this guy just in case he keeps doing well and we need a coach again in 5-7 years" type thing, but his name is definitely out there. I'm guessing he's gone from Temple after 2010.
  20. Gill probably is a good coach and I certainly have nothing against him apart from ruining last season for me, but if "the program was epically bad before he got there" is being used, then maybe KU should have pursued Al Golden, who took Temple, a program just as bad as Buffalo at one time, to 9 wins this year, more than Gill ever got at UB.
  21. Like Roy Williams, I don't give a [expletive] about North Carolina. Ok, but seriously, it's garbage like this that makes UNC so easy to hate. The reason all Heels hate Duke is garbage like this, but at least most Dukies embrace that identity. UNC hates Duke for being exactly what they themselves are like, basically.
  22. Hey, if it was so obvious he's quitting, why don't you not give up a 96 [expletive] yard touchdown drive to essentially lock up the game for New England? This may well be completely true, but to me it comes off as sour grapes. If it was so obvious he quit then you should have been able to stop New England...you know, ever, in the second half.
  23. I'm going to go down in the first round of the playoffs with the highest-scoring team unless Fitzgerald absolutely goes crazy. Go figure.
  24. Gill had 1 good season, got to the MAC championship game only because of a miraculous Hail Mary against Temple, won it only because Nate Davis got the flu and Buffalo had two long fumble returns for touchdowns (at least one of which happened only because a hideous replay overturn took a Ball State TD off the board), and is 20-30. I'm biased because his 'legend' is basically built off a fluke game against my team, but I have no clue how he's gotten so much attention two offseasons in a row. Best of luck to him I guess.
