Well, ND had to beat UCLA and they did. Sluggishly, but they did. Barring a disaster against Bucknell, 11-2 OOC. The Northwestern loss doesn't look so bad anymore, though I'm still annoyed about it. I'm not too worried about whether ND makes the dance or not. I'm just excited to watch some conference basketball.

I'm going to guess this is a joke account, but it's worth noting that the worst Cubs team of the last 6 years 'had speed' in the leadoff role. -
I mentioned this last week. It's a little annoying, but if they're good games (and this season, most of them have been), I can live with it.

The black X over the silver lining is that the team could luck into an 85 win season where they contend based on weak opponents and everybody will applaud the move and pressure them to keep Hendry. After we replace Bradley with Podsednik, there is no level of weakness of competition that could get this team to 85 wins.

You'd be hard pressed to find either of them throw a temper tantrum. Wouldn't surprise me to see Pinkel retire earlier than he intended if Mizzou were to move to the Big 10. Anderson would be able to land a job at a major basketball program, and while he may have no interest in it now, I could see him pursuing it more if Mizzou switched. But yes, lolz temper tantrums. Why would Anderson leave? The Big Tweleven would be a much better basketball conference than the current Big 12 which you'd think would increase Missouri hoops' potential for big things.

The 2006-07 Colts got Bob Sanders back before the playoffs and suddenly had a defense again. You think they win that Ravens crapfest without him? So this current 14-0, +146 point differential, 5th ranked defense Colts team is going to lose in the playoffs because the 2006 12-4, +67 point differential, 23rd ranked defense Colts team might not have won one of their playoff games without Bob Sanders? My point is when the 06 Colts 'played with fire' they became a better team in the playoffs because they got their best defensive player back. That isn't going to happen this year which makes the comparison invalid.

It's only been 45 years since the Lou Brock trade. I'm not saying Milton Bradley is a Hall of Famer but intentionally taking on the Carlos Silva contract... it has to be a cry for help. Someone should institutionalize Hendry for his own benefit. Lou Brock was shitty as a Cub, I've seen the numbers. The fact that he went HOF for the Cardinals really wasn't the Cubs' fault. This trade absolutely is.

I seriously may not watch this year. You have to be intentionally sabotaging the team to make this trade. This is one of the worst trades ever, period.

No 'probably' about it. ND makes significantly less money as an independent than they would in the Big Tweleven. Jack Swarbrick even said so. when they were in BCS bowls, they had a leg to stand on (not having to share their take) but now that they're turning down the pizza bowl, I'm sure they'd love to have a 1/12th cut of all the big Ten bowl payout The previous AD made the genius move of negotiating it so that ND receives about a third of the money they used to when making BCS games but receives about twice as much as it used to when it doesn't. I think ND's decision on whether or not to join the Big Ten would have a lot less to do with football than it would with academics and such. It's supposedly the ND faculty and some of the administration that most wants to join the league for academic benefit (basically the ones that are annoyed that Notre Dame has a notable football program and yet reap financial benefit from said football program), but the alumni and most of the fans are vehemently against it.

Surely they have a few bucks laying around. Have they really splurged on anything since Miguel Tejada? Was it Baltimore or Washington that made a massive offer to Teixeira last offseason? I think it was the Orioles, but I'm not sure. They both did IIRC.

I'd say winning at Philly is more like a colossal if than merely a big one. Philly might be the 2nd best team in the NFC, depending on one's opinion of Minnesota.

TCU would make a ton of sense for the Big 12. Weren't they the team that got passed up for Baylor when the SWC/Big 8 merger happened? It'd be poetic justice in a sense.

Michigan at the end had a wild lateral play and Nebraska's entire team ran onto the field before the play was over, which probably should have resulted in a penalty.

Unknown whether Dan LeFevour left a team meeting early and popped off to the press about Jones 'leaving for the money'. I wonder who Central will get now.

This would be the best move. They could move it between Ford Field*, Lucas Oil and Soldier Field. If they wanted to branch out further they could include the Bengals' stadium, the Browns' stadium, and/or the Metrodome into that rotation. * There is the MAC title game there so that could create some conflicts, but the MAC should be holding their title game elsewhere anyway, and I'm sure Ford Field would jump at the chance to have a Big Tweleven title game.
