  1. Not that I want to see it on the list, but the Bush Push game could just as easily be on it, and I'm sure there are a slew of examples that fans of other teams could come up with too.
  2. The Big Ten's official statement on expansion is at this link. Basically, it says "we are going to start looking around to see who wants to join and if it's cool with our presidents if they do".
  3. Compensation pick? What sort of devilry is this? How in the world do teams go about getting crazy things like compensation picks? /sarcasm
  4. Yay for completely meaningless prime-time games...beat Favre I guess.
  5. Please oh please sign that deal Matt Holliday. That would make it a hell of a lot harder to lock up Pujols.
  6. The Pac-10 was better than the SEC this year. Significantly better, actually.
  7. plus, i mean, it's ball state Exactly, it's Ball [expletive] State, and because it's Ball [expletive] State, 12-0 will never, ever happen again. I'm really not sure why bitterness about the way that ended is so surprising.
  8. The Prairie View A&M head coach really needs a promotion quickly. PVAM lost some 80 straight games and their worst loss was 92-0 in that stretch. They rebounded and won the SWAC championship this year. But yeah, Gill is a very good hire and, I think, is a very good coach. Al Golden should be getting a lot of interest quite soon as well if he can keep Temple in the 6-8 win range. Joe Schad reported that Notre Dame actually interviewed Golden. Granted it was almost certainly a "let's get acquainted with this guy just in case he keeps doing well and we need a coach again in 5-7 years" type thing, but his name is definitely out there. I'm guessing he's gone from Temple after 2010.
  9. Gill probably is a good coach and I certainly have nothing against him apart from ruining last season for me, but if "the program was epically bad before he got there" is being used, then maybe KU should have pursued Al Golden, who took Temple, a program just as bad as Buffalo at one time, to 9 wins this year, more than Gill ever got at UB.
  10. Like Roy Williams, I don't give a [expletive] about North Carolina. Ok, but seriously, it's garbage like this that makes UNC so easy to hate. The reason all Heels hate Duke is garbage like this, but at least most Dukies embrace that identity. UNC hates Duke for being exactly what they themselves are like, basically.
  11. Hey, if it was so obvious he's quitting, why don't you not give up a 96 [expletive] yard touchdown drive to essentially lock up the game for New England? This may well be completely true, but to me it comes off as sour grapes. If it was so obvious he quit then you should have been able to stop New England...you know, ever, in the second half.
  12. I'm going to go down in the first round of the playoffs with the highest-scoring team unless Fitzgerald absolutely goes crazy. Go figure.
  13. Gill had 1 good season, got to the MAC championship game only because of a miraculous Hail Mary against Temple, won it only because Nate Davis got the flu and Buffalo had two long fumble returns for touchdowns (at least one of which happened only because a hideous replay overturn took a Ball State TD off the board), and is 20-30. I'm biased because his 'legend' is basically built off a fluke game against my team, but I have no clue how he's gotten so much attention two offseasons in a row. Best of luck to him I guess.
  14. I think the Heisman 'curse' has more to do with the Heisman continually going to players that everyone knows aren't going to be worth a [expletive] in the NFL than anything. It's not like Smith, White, Weinke, Crouch, etc. were drafted high and had bad things happen to them, they just plain aren't NFL players. FWIW, I don't think the same thing will happen to Mark Ingram, who looks like he could be a solid NFL back.
  15. This has been a really crappy weekend for the entire conference. Think CBS wants a 'flex' option for that craptastic UCLA/ND game they are airing next Saturday afternoon?
  16. Does Dallas really have THAT many more fans than every other team that they have to be on essentially national TV every week? I know they probably have the most fans of any NFL team but I never got the impression that it was that big a difference.
  17. The Panthers rough the punter on their very last chance to get into the game, a poorly-run defensive play turns a 52-yard FG into a 47-yard one later, and now it's 20-10. Time to start calling Bill Cowher, because mistakes like this are inexcusable and they happen to Carolina every week. The Panthers have never had back to back winning seasons.
  18. New England going 96 yards for a touchdown on that drive was basically preordained.
  19. In two plays, the Panthers manage to commit two illegal shifts AND an illegal formation. Unreal.
  20. Denver picks off a tipped pass at midfield with 29 seconds left in the half, then commits an unsportsmanlike penalty. Why are football teams stupid?
  21. Notre Dame loses to LOYOLA [expletive] MARYMOUNT. Somebody please uncover NCAA violations by Brey. PLEASE.
  22. Army looks really good right now. I'm sure Raisin is the biggest Navy fan on the board today.
  23. Our I-Bowl was Jan. 5th so we didn't get to do the New Year's Eve thing. Have fun up there - Toronto is so awesome.
  24. You may not like divisions, but the Big Ten will need them if they want a championship game. What do you call the conference then? I like "Big Tweleven".
