  1. Would it be a biased pick or do you like Purdue less than Kentucky, Kansas and all the other possible 1 seeds? Both. The only Big East team that's been mentioned for a 1 that I don't really like is WVU (and that's probably colored by the fact that ND somehow beat them).
  2. He's not always as bad as he was tonight. That was some awful basketball by him tonight. He passed up several open guys in order to try to score over 3 guys in the lane as you said. At one point, Kirk put his hands up angry that Deng blatantly ignored him (Deng was looking in his direction before turning around and putting up a contested shot). To his credit, he's probably the teams second best scorer and he's been effective getting shots in the lane lately. And he probably thinks Hinrich can't shoot. Correction: He probably knows damn well that Hinrich can't shoot.
  3. Purdue getting a #1 seed would be great for them. Every year I talk myself into having an irrational bias towards a #1 seed (usually it's Memphis, last year it was UConn) and I pick them to be ousted fairly early in my bracket. That #1 seed never, ever, ever, ever gets knocked out early, usually winning at least three games. All this is a long-winded way of saying that Purdue would likely be that team this year if they're seeded 1, thus guaranteeing them a long tournament run.
  4. Change of scenery works
  5. Nothing 'sucking' is a fact. A generally-agreed-upon opinion is not a fact.
  6. Since when was figure skating all about jumps? I know absolutely nothing about judged figure skating but I know that Lysacek did a fantastic job and the Russian, apart from delivering a completely wooden performance, looked like a broken swivel chair on most of his jumps.
  7. Lysacek looks machine-like jumping. You almost can't envision him falling down. The more gold medals for the U.S. the better.
  8. Mike, as much as I have no love for Cleveland, I have less love for New York. It's bad enough that "The Raptist" headlines LA, we don't need LBJ headlining NY. I rather LBJ stay in Cleveland and the Bulls have to face him 4 times a year, instead of him going to NY. This is just ridiculous. The less we have to face LeBron, the better.
  9. What did I just hear? "The Hottest sport"? Hottest sport on ice. Yeah, no.
  10. Lady Gaga to promote ice dancing. Oh, boy.
  11. There is no rhyme or reason to whether crappy teams beating better teams in a league is viewed as being the symptom of a good/deep league or not. For whatever reason the Big East usually gets the benefit of the doubt there (not sure they deserve it this year).
  12. Wade hasn't been very convincing, even less so than LeBron, that he's staying.
  13. The Bulls are still a better spot then NY, imo. Hopefully a big-time FA agrees with you.
  14. Why would you want a shot at Boston. It's not catharsis, if they just beat you all over again. Troll all you want, I don't care, just want to see you in April.
  15. I want a piece of Boston, bad. If the Bulls can beat any of their possible 1st round opponents, Boston would be it. That being said, I'm 100 percent in favor of the trades today and if they make us miss the playoffs, so be it. I don't think they will, though.
  16. Salmons and Tyrus aren't garbage players, but if they're really good enough to carry Milwaukee and Charlotte over us then we weren't deserving of a playoff bid to begin with.
  17. Ty Thomas now headed for Charlotte for Acie Law, Flip Murray (both expiring contracts), and a first-round pick.
  18. What are the contract situations of those players?
  19. I blew off the Louisville game to watch Ball State because I knew that ND would either get run out of the gym or lose a heartbreaker. Notre Dame sports: finding ways to lose in my entire conscious lifetime. I'm reading a lot about how we got screwed by officiating, but having not seen the game I won't comment. Ball State beat Central 69-63 despite surrendering an 18-0 second-half run. The magic number is 2 to clinch the division and lock up a #2 seed in the MAC tournament.
  20. Should've gotten a goal out of that flurry of shots early on.
  21. Kevin Millar is all sorts of chunky.
  22. It seemed more exciting in Turin.
  23. As for my vote, I'm not really Big Ten savvy so I will abstain, though I agree with the consensus that on their face IU seems to bring the least to the league.
  24. Dick Rod is merely 2 years into his plan of turning Michigan into Further West Virginia, only with fewer wins. He's already got a football recruit who robbed 3 houses signed up. I'd say things are going swimmingly. Hey, not one person he's signed on that football team has a felony conviction. :)
  25. Is anybody here talking about Michigan, Minnesota or Iowa? No, because they aren't very good and aren't located in the Chicagoland area. If a cabal of fans means about four then OK. But It's not like we're crawling out of the woodwork here. The Purdue hate from Illini fans, or fans of pretenders like ND or BSU is very similar to White Sox fans hate for the Cubs. Did my team win today? Nope. Oh well, Purdue still sucks. Classy. In all honesty, this season has turned me around on the (we'll call it aggressive) Purdue defense. Sure as hell better than playing absolutely no defense at all like my squad and giving up 50 percent long-range nights to St. John's and Seton Hall every [expletive] game.
