  1. Rany Jazayerli ‏@jazayerli now In 1982-83, McReynolds hit .372/.421/.689 in 243 games, albeit all in great hitters parks. Bryant's SLG looks like the highest in 30 years. Rany Jazayerli ‏@jazayerli 1m1 minute ago Thanks to everyone for your help. @EricMilburn found someone with a higher minor league SLG-as everyone guessed, it was Kevin McReynolds (!) As a kid my baseball glove was a McReynolds, and this is the first time I've ever seen him mentioned outside that context.
  2. He definitely did it, though. What a roller coaster that was. And then to find out after that Brey lost his mother. Heart wrenching. So thankful for what he's built this program to be.
  3. It seems like that guy has been there for 20 years. I think he was on the team that beat ND 3 years ago in the tournament.
  4. If you told me one 3 seed was going to lose by 3 pm, I'd have gone ahead and packed ND's bags for them.
  5. If I didn't listen to it, I'd have nothing to bitch about. Almost all of the music radio stations suck in Chicago, I don't have XM, and my car is from 2010, right before USB ports became the norm in cars. So basically its either sports radio, NPR or being forced to talk to my wife. I have one of those after-market stereos and an AUX cord. I haven't listened to the radio in a car I've owned in like 6 years.
  6. It was definitely mentioned with George Springer and Gregory Polanco last year, and I'm sure was played up more than we're aware of by local media types in those cities.
  7. Last year was the first time I assembled a not-terrible team, so expect a return to form this year. Group A: Giancarlo Stanton Group B: Anthony Rizzo, Andrew McCutchen Group C: Evan Gattis, Paul Goldschmidt, George Springer Group D: Bryce Harper, Jonathan Lucroy, Robinson Cano, Hanley Ramirez, Yasmani Grandal Wild Card: Will PM
  8. I took Kentucky over Duke, with Arizona and UVA in the final four. SFA, EWU and Buffalo upset picks, with SFA in the Sweet 16. Xavier is a minor upset pick in round 2 over Baylor and the same with UNI over Nova in round 3, but I went mostly chalk this year. Haven't watched a ton of games outside of ND.
  9. Yeah, it's not a great draw. WSU is underseeded imo. Also, we sorta suck. Bad recipe. I think ND has the best chance in the region to take down UK. My initial reaction to being in Kentucky's bracket was slight annoyance, but I have to admit, IF they could get to that matchup (which would require more tournament victories than the last 12 years combined), it would be an outstanding opportunity.
  10. I don't envy KU (Wichita) or Gonzaga's (Davidson) draws. ND as a 3 is just fine with me.
  11. Both already had them IMO
  12. Waited a long time to see those guys standing with a trophy on a Saturday night. Better late than never.
  13. ND probably ought to be considered for a 2 with a win tonight, but it's hard to find someone currently there to bump either.
  14. I don't know if I've ever seen a player get away with more fouls than Jahlil Okafor. And I watched Hasheem Thabeet. Winning that game 5 on 8 was immensely gratifying.
  15. They are playing basically exactly the opposite of what they did in the first half of the regular-season matchup, where they were hitting everything they chucked up.
  16. Figures that those happen on Gillispie's PBP inning.
  17. It's all the ex-Great West, i.e. worst teams in the NCAA without a conference right? Chicago State and...Utah Valley St? I know Grand Canyon is in it because there was a big hubbub about a for-profit university being in Division I.
  18. Stroman tore his ACL. Rough. [expletive] awful [expletive] pitchers. Mark Appel missed his most recent ST start due to arm tightness as well.
  19. MLB.TV or the Indians' RSN.
  20. God, CFB fans are just the [expletive] worst sometimes. Glad he appears to be mostly ok.
  21. At one point in 2004 we had 8 different players on the DL. Don't remember how many were good but it was a pretty ridiculous run of bad luck.
  22. Managed to grab 2 for the Sunday White Sox game. Saturday was sold out before I got there. If I end up averaging under $100 per for the two games I'll be happy.
  23. I couldn't believe that. How many drunk-driving deaths and arrests does that organization need to rack up before self-important blowhards stop writing articles like that?
  24. They'd probably offer him something like that this very instant if they thought there was a shot in hell he'd take it.
  25. I don't veto any deal, but that doesn't stop me and the other 11 people in my league from pointing out when one owner is ripping off another (which is generally one owner in particular who is obsessive about baseball to an insane degree and, more to the point, has tons of free time, so he's won 3 of our 4 titles). But no trade should ever be vetoed unless you can prove some sort of disallowed activity.
