  1. Miguel Montero spawned the coolest hashtag of the season. Love when random stuff like that happens. Justin Grimm used it tonight, too. #WeAreGood.
  2. He literally had a clutch hit like 20 minutes ago Relax, Jake, it's the game thread CUBS LEAD
  3. Holy [expletive] they did it again
  4. That was a good 3 days where we thought our bullpen wasn't going to take a [expletive] blowtorch to our chances in April for once in our damn lives
  5. We could win 110 games and those bastards wouldn't let us win the division by 10 games, unfortunately.
  6. This will be first year in like the past 5 years where I care about what the cardinals are doing. Yeah, I was going to say something like this. I [expletive] hate them always, but their results should actually be relevant to us too.
  7. I haven't been loud, but it would really, really help if Bryant can stick at 3B.
  8. Remember last year when we first got Russell and everyone posted dream infields? Bryant-Castro-Russell-Rizzo. There's your dream infield.

  10. Googled it. My first avatar was then-Panthers WR Keary Colbert. It's been a while.
  11. Besides 60-daying Olt and DFAing Villanueva, Beeler is a candidate for the 60-day. Who goes down is another question. Do they send down a pitcher (Schlitter hopefully) or do they send down Alcantara - the only issue with sending down AA is that he is currently their 5th outfielder, but I bet Herrera could fill in in a pinch. Muskat already said Alcantara is going down.
  12. It's just something their fans do, and it's really, really, really stupid.
  13. This too. Theo could really respond to that idea by just pointing out that our priorities have changed, and this is consistent with what he said the Cubs would be doing once that happened.
  14. I would give almost anything for Theo to respond to such a question by just sitting back and saying, "Dongs."
  15. i'm awfully tempted to trade for a left fielder instead. let's just score every run. f pitchers. Yep. Our staff is fine. Score every run.
  16. @#$! Theo for blowing off three full seasons to do it. And all it would have taken was for the Astros to take Bryant and leave us with Appel and Beane not going nutso and we'd still be talking about how he hasn't had enough time to fully implement his plan. I'm going to enjoy every second of this *and* refuse to give Theo any credit, and all ya'll can just deal with it. You have a fair point, but part of this stuff is luck, and I don't think Theo (or anyone now celebrating him here) would say otherwise. And he hit enough unequivocal home runs over the last couple of years to get a good deal of credit. And this is coming from one of the most anti-tanking people on this board. It sucked. But this team might just be really [expletive] awesome, and it definitely is really [expletive] fun. Can't help but credit a fair bit of that to Theo.
  17. I JUST SAW THIS AND OH MY GOD. YES YES YES
  18. It's worth pointing out again that Arrieta and Strop for half a season of Scott Feldman is the most hilariously one sided deal in recent Cubs history. This team is fun. They may or may not make the playoffs this year. But they're fun.
  19. I watch PTI because Kornheiser and Wilbon are funny together (and the replacements, except for Bob Ryan and the horrible human being Jason Whitlock, are generally entertaining when they have them as well) and to make sure I didn't miss anything while keeping Twitter open during the day. Outside of that I don't watch sports shows, just games.
  20. Generally yes, although Cespedes was not one when he won the Derby, IIRC. I think they may have relaxed the 'you have to be an All-Star' thing when they started having team captains and AL vs. NL.
  21. The idea of all the other guys sort of begrudgingly getting involved just enough so that Rizzo doesn't suspect how stupid they all think it is makes me chuckle.
  22. fixd DID YOU KNOW: Ross leads Cubs catchers with a .370 wOBA, 2nd only to Bryant for players with 10+ PA. entirely on the back of intentional walks and unintentional intentional walks, don't care at all You'd rather have had him expand the zone and ground out/pop-up weakly? Ross was my least favorite move of the offseason, and I really hope they stop using him as Lester's caddy the moment that Castillo is gone. But I think some are so predisposed to hate him that the fact that he's been fine so far is being cast aside as irrelevant. Any chance of that? I get the impression Ross is taking starts from Montero right now, not Castillo, and don't see any reason that would stop - if anything, him catching Lester after Castillo is gone seems more likely to me.
  23. Yeah, that's not going to happen, and you shouldn't want it to happen. The sooner Russell is up here and Jonathan Herrera isn't getting starters' ABs, the more games the Cubs will likely win.
