  1. He's probably better than he was being given credit for when we were bragging about the pitching advantage, but we definitely had some bad luck.
  2. Get this [expletive] moron Pappas out of the radio booth
  3. No such thing as a real jinx, of course, but I still feel I should blame you for this.
  4. lol what? Told the Reds' audience at least twice that the RF bleachers would be closed until next season. Waiting for him to go there again tonight. Chip off the old, mentally deficient block, that Thom.
  5. Played this game in college on XBox for hours against guys on my floor. is that the one with don't look at me that wayyyy, it was an honest mistaaake or he rocks his iroc-z, he rocks it well...something something finger tapping yeah van halen is the man? Yes it is. The MVP mod soundtracks are pretty bad though. They have horrible selections, though I'm assuming it's comprised of song selections from each of the contributors rather than a moderator of good taste. It';s not that the songs are bad, per se, but the original MVP games, somehow, always picked really good songs that seemed to fit well with the feel of the game. The MVP 14 mod was basically a bunch of EDM and dubstep and like a Bonnie Raitt track thrown in there or something. Tessie, enough said McGravy shouted. Or something like that. Tessie is a karaoke bar staple when my best man and I get together. All those songs are terrific. I have most on my phone.
  6. This could be my favorite roster move of the Epstein era. The bullpen is a bit taxed from a series of short starts, and 3-4 days from now, they can call up Bryant completely for baseball reasons. I'm not saying Theo intentionally managed to get Olt and La Stella to get hurt somehow to give him a convenient excuse to get Bryant up on the first day possible, but I'm not NOT saying it.
  7. No way. Bryant will be up by 7 days from now. Russell won't be unless snakes devour all our current middle infield options.
  8. This might belong in the video game thread, but a great Grantland article today about obsessive types who are constantly working to keep the PC version of MVP Baseball 2005 up to date.
  9. This pick basically comes down to OT or WR. Health has been a concern for Florida OT D.J. Humphries, who's the top tackle on the board & has top-flight talent. I'm loath to take a shot on an injury risk, though, so I'll go WR here. Carolina picks Jaelen Strong from Arizona State.
  10. Lester's not throwing it anymore. Ross is still out there though.
  11. So the personal catcher can't be counted on to catch the ball either.
  12. Coghlan continuing to be pretty useful would be an excellent development.
  13. The same guy in my keeper league who drafted Trout, Stanton, Goldschmidt and Kluber all right before they became superduperstars drafted Betts and traded for Arenado this year, so neither of their huge starts have surprised me whatsoever.
  14. I'm against exploding scoreboards because they're dumb, not because it violates some old-man edict.
  15. I'm really over this David Ross thing. He's going to retire at some point during Lester's 7-year contract, I think, so he'll have to pitch to someone else eventually.
  16. I could give a rip about the White Sox either way now, but I irrationally hated that 2005 team. I spent a lot of time wondering how the hell they got the rough equivalent of prime-era Pedro Martinez innings out of the trio of Neal Cotts, Cliff Politte and Dustin Hermanson, 2 of which were out of baseball within 2 years. And, of course, Pierzynski.
  17. McDonough, Raftery, Len, Bilas, Michaels, Collinsworth, Van Gundy
  18. Feel weirdly good about today. I predict at least 6 runs and a win.
  19. Well, he did probably have plenty of time to concoct that story since the Steelers told him to leave months ago.
