  2. They would have been in anyway. That ridiculous play just freed the committee from being hypocrites about the importance of conference titles.
  3. I think it's $6 million the ACC, who employs all those officials, gets when Clemson gets into the playoff. So Clemson vs Oklahoma and MSU vs Bama is pretty much a lock, I assume. Are you assuming Clemson drops to 2 or MSU jumps OU? The latter. I'd actually have MSU at 2 (they have FOUR better wins than Alabama's best one), but that's irrelevant.
  4. One of the tightest Heisman decisions in a while. Watson, Henry, McCaffrey all deserving, and Dalvin Cook is as good as any of them. McCaffrey should win it, Henry will win it. I would agree on both counts.
  5. I think it's $6 million the ACC, who employs all those officials, gets when Clemson gets into the playoff. So Clemson vs Oklahoma and MSU vs Bama is pretty much a lock, I assume.
  6. 22 PLAYS! Unbelievable.
  7. One of the tightest Heisman decisions in a while. Watson, Henry, McCaffrey all deserving, and Dalvin Cook is as good as any of them.
  8. Florida is [expletive] horrible.
  9. USC was "in disarray" by your standard the whole rest of the season too and can win the Pac 12 tonight. But I'm not sure why ND is part of this discussion anyway. My opinion that you are spectacularly overrating Ole Miss has nothing to do with them.
  10. Advanced stats think USC is pretty damn good, and Navy is better than either of those 2 also. LSU and Mississippi State have combined to do basically nothing. The Alabama win was great and all, but the Tide sleepwalk their way into a loss to some team every year. It doesn't make Ole Miss great.
  11. LSU and Mississippi State are not good teams, Ryne. What's the best win between the two of them? Texas A&M? I guess? They're ok. Not good.
  12. Just wait for an Iowa v Bama game. ZZZZzzzz God that would be just sad. And yet could be the national title game in a month. Haha.
  13. Correct, normally it'd be TCU, but the Big 12 uses its own tiebreaker to determine the Sugar bid. OK State vs Ole Miss is probably the most uninspiring major bowl matchup since Michigan vs VA Tech.
  14. I'm really, really, extremely not high on the idea of paying for an old pitcher coming off a career year driven by outperformance of his peripherals.
  15. 30 teams go back and forth, but the Browns and Lions are forever.
  16. They shouldn't. Stanford played a grueling schedule this year while UNC was beating 2 FCS teams and losing to horrendous South Carolina. Ohio State would have a better chance than UNC.
  17. MAC Championship Game in Detroit (8 pm Friday, ESPN2) Bowling Green vs Northern Illinois American Championship Game (12 pm, ABC) (22) Temple at (19) Houston Conference USA Championship Game (12 pm, ESPN2) Southern Miss at Western Kentucky SEC Championship Game in Atlanta (4 pm, CBS) (18) Florida vs (2) Alabama Mountain West Championship Game (7:30 pm, ESPN2) Air Force at San Diego State Pac-12 Championship Game in Santa Clara, CA (7:45 pm, ESPN) (20) USC vs (7) Stanford ACC Championship Game in Charlotte (8 pm, ABC) (10) North Carolina vs (1) Clemson Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis (8 pm, FOX) (4) Iowa vs (5) Michigan State Top 25 games ------------------------------ Texas at (12) Baylor (12 pm, ESPN) Other nationally available games --------------------------------------------------- Georgia State at Georgia Southern (2 pm, ESPN3) New Mexico State at UL Monroe (3 pm, ESPN3) Texas State at Arkansas State (3 pm, ESPN3) West Virginia at Kansas State (4:30 pm, FS1) Troy at UL Lafayette (5 pm, ESPN3) Appalachian State at South Alabama (7:30 pm, ESPN3)
  18. And can clinch the division with a win next week. This has been a fun year.
  19. I imagine the committee would use the conference champion justification to vault Stanford past them if they beat USC. So they'd probably need 2 upsets. But Alabama is going to beat Florida by 100, so I wouldn't worry. Thanks to the Sugar Bowl's SEC/Big 12 deal, Ole Miss will probably get a major bowl again, so that's kind of neat for them even though it sucks for whoever finishes in the last spot out of the NY6.
  20. I think that's how it should go, but I'd bet UNC would take Clemson's spot, and wouldn't be shocked to see Florida or Stanford take Bama's. Stanford takes Bama's. Florida is flat-out bad and shouldn't be in the playoff even if they somehow stumble ass over tea-kettle into a win over a sleepwalking Bama.
  21. I don't think there's ever been an unluckier 10-win team than ND this year. After being given a few minutes to let it sink in, I even can somewhat appreciate the way the college football gods trolled ND by having them be hurt by seemingly benefiting from a strange replay decision at the goal line against Stanford - especially since ND's bowl destination was changed in absolutely no way by what happened in this game. They were going to a non-playoff major bowl before, and because everyone behind them got [expletive] destroyed today, they will be going to a non-playoff major bowl now. I just hope Temple beats Houston so they're not stuck playing a non-P5 team that will enable the CFB world at large to completely ignore anything they do well in said bowl.
  22. Because they have 6 points on 3 trips into Stanford territory.
  23. If only Brian Kelly had already [expletive] lost a game this year in large part because he went for 2 well before he needed to. ND is playing the most dominant offensive game I've seen in a really long time, and they're going to be down by 6 in about 45 seconds. Unbelievable.
  24. Eh, I'm the first to go conspiracy theory via conference affiliated referees, but Muschamp was behaving like a lunatic and assistant coaches never get much leeway anyway. Also, Jeremy Johnson is an AWFUL quarterback. Couldn't throw one within 2 feet of anyone all day.
  25. I lost count of how many times Armstrong threw ridiculous desperate chucks into multiple defensive backs
