  1. Boy that was a weird mound visit, coming out in the middle of an AB, and Nico diagnosed it perfectly.
  2. Now Ohio State is claiming it's their understanding that FOX won't bring Portnoy into any B1G stadiums during the season, which makes absolutely no sense at all on its face. Color me pleased, though, that this ridiculous circus act didn't even get started before it got dumb
  3. H2H is first but since the Cubs and Padres split the 6 games they played it moves to the next one. As you alluded to, it would apply if it was us and LA, with a 4-3 H2H edge to the Cubs this season.
  4. PCA really needs to figure out how to hit lefties because I'm beyond sick of every opponent having a limitless supply of them ready to face him in the middle and late innings
  5. Is this like the 3rd time in a week Kittredge has come in and gotten lit up or am I just a meatball?
  6. Credit Adrian Johnson for coming up with a creative and new way to horsefeathers Seiya over
  7. LOL first batter ties it. Never change bullpen
  8. Big time pitching from Assad there, need more runs now
  9. Chafin has gone full Wilford Brimley. He should punctuate that K by talking to the camera about diabetes
  10. It helps when everyone has a lefty ready to roll every single time he comes up
  11. Serious question, who is beating Matt Shaw for the 3B Gold Glove? He's unreal over there
  12. That was a great catch and reminds me why I kinda like that we play in a park where only the wind can steal home runs
  13. I meant the B1G as a league could, but yeah, individual teams probably can't. It seems like the whole league is unified in thinking the SEC's cupcake week is some kind of crazy devious hack, though, so you'd think it wouldn't be a tough sell.
  14. Then you (PSU in this example) have the freedom to move your Villanova game to November if it's such an advantage. No one is stopping you. Personally, as a TV consumer, I'd rather teams play fun early games, then one clunker game later in the season when other conferences are providing options I can safely ignore them to watch, rather than having virtually nothing of significance to watch for an entire month as is the case with much of the B1G.
  15. Oh look, we found it! This is a public memo that there is no qualitative difference between playing crappy FCS teams in November or September, and if it's such an advantage, the beautiful thing about it is there's absolutely no rule against it so your team can do it too.
  16. I don't know what the next scheduling topic fans will obsessively complain about will be, but I'm confident they'll find one.
  17. As I saw mentioned elsewhere, people who choose this option also help goose the Ricketts' accounts ahead of the planned lockout. I imagine for that reason they won't be the only owners offering some sort of multi-year renewal incentive if they think they can pull it off.
  18. The TLDR is that MLBTV is probably going to get folded into the ESPN app. You'll have to have the expensive unlimited service to get it and the MLBTV part will cost on top of it.
  19. Aaaand now we see why the Ricketts wanted the All-Star Game.
  20. Yes, the report is that Tucker was told in June about this
  21. He did play really well in June, but the second the slugging stopped happening, which was way before now, something should have been done with an eye on the playoffs. Doubt he'll heal at this point, even if he actually did sit out long enough for it (which he probably would argue against anyway)
  22. I'm not letting myself buy a comeback yet, but at minimum I like the idea of playing the role of 2015 Cubs in a playoff series to the Brewers' version of that St. Louis team that might have peaked too early
  23. Doesn't seem like he can trust any one pitch right now, which isn't good
  24. Another big W for the Cubs' medical staff.
