  1. Also lost to the Brewers a couple of times the last weekend of the season to help facilitate the Mets' collapse. Which ended up screwing us in the end because we drew the hotter-than-the-surface-of-the-sun Mannywood Dodgers. That made me mad even as it was happening because the free-falling Mets were so obviously a better matchup.
  2. This was being discussed in another thread (a game thread, I think?) and I believe your conclusion here is correct. SD catching the Cubs would necessitate them winning the tiebreaker.
  3. Sounds like bad news is coming regarding Cade Horton
  4. 2nd time he's called him Matthew Busch. Dude is flat-out not paying attention And now Perez just did it too
  5. Karl Ravech has called Busch "Matthew Busch" tonight and I'm pretty sure he just called Starling Marte "Martin-ay" twice in the same at-bat.
  6. i hope I'm the first person to make the joke about being surprised Matt Shaw deigned to hit the ball hard to left
  7. Given the character issues surrounding him I would be surprised if we saw much more of him. He also started sucking as a baseball player pretty quickly after the title, so it's not like he has a rich history of great play for fans to look back on fondly.
  8. A friend of mine got in there for the 2015 NLDS, or he went to the clinch game at least (I assume he must have been picked).
  9. Odds are the Cubs will win again in 2025. I think.
  10. Mortal lock Kelly would swing at some crap after that foul ball
  11. I'm guessing you already know, but this is what MAGA is. They can hold whatever views they want (even those that change on a dime, i.e. going from Trump's Operation Warp Speed to "vaccines are poison and murdering people") and anyone who opposes any of those views, even in the most benign way, is a cuck/Communist/crybaby/whatever epithet their pea brains are thinking at the given moment.
  12. Dan Campbell rules
  13. His kid is expected to be the interim. If it was something he did, I can't believe that would be happening. Looks to me like it's the old "Whoopsie, I quit and it's too late for you guys to go through a hiring process, guess you'll just have to let the guy I wanted to be next take over" move that we've seen a few times already (Virginia, Wisconsin).
  14. I doubt the Ricketts' permission was an issue for Fox News. If the Cubs for some reason had forbidden it and Shaw had gone Snake Plissken Escape from Cincinnati and battled his way past 4 or 5 armed staffers on the way out to go to the funeral, they'd have loved that too.
  15. Just so it's on the record, Shaw is several years younger than Kirk and they do not share hometowns or any other connection to suggest they were actually personal friends. Not saying it's impossible, there's just no evidence of it.
  16. The Athletic is reporting the funeral was Kirk's.
  17. You got leapfrogged by a Miami team with 3 wins that are somewhere between 'good' to 'very good.' It frankly should've happened already.

  19. Luke Fickell being at least quite solid at Wisconsin felt like a really easy bet a few years ago and it just has never gone well at all. Very hard to believe.
  20. CBS' game presentation has long been the gold standard for me. They do a great job. It's a pity they usually don't get the caliber of games to live up to it these days.
  21. So Clemson is straight up atrocious now huh?
  22. I believe it was. That was an excellent weekend.
  23. I agree, feels like avoiding lefty-stacked rotations as long as possible would be the best situation.
  24. I've thought this basically since the beginning. I do think I heard somewhere that TMac is friends with him and that's what we're picking up on, but I can't find a specific source on that.
  25. The last time an 0-2 team was ranked at all was 1988 Michigan (lost to ND and Miami at the buzzer to start the season), and they didn't lose again and ended up winning the Rose Bowl. I'm hoping this is a good omen. I couldn't possibly care any less whether or where ND is ranked because unless several of their future opponents end up much better than they're projected to be, I don't think they're making the playoff anyway. The power structure of the sport feels determined to rectify whatever strength of schedule "glitches" (I use this in quotes because I had no problem with the field) gave us SMU and Indiana last year.
