That's what they did the first year they had this expanded playoff format, too, so it's not like they can't do it. They just want more cash.

BREAKING: Cubs Sign Third Baseman Alex Bregman to Five-Year Deal

Yeah he always annoyed me the most of all the cheating Astros, but I loved Edmonds by the time he was done so if he hits I'll be fine -
Being in at all was a gift (and kinda a joke, TBH) so getting an actually fun game out of it was a bonus. I'll never really trust Bryce Young but that was a really good game for him on the whole.
-
Talent identification and coaching obviously huge factors. Everyone is portaling and dropping bags, but IU is by far hitting on their acquisitions more than anyone else and that's a tribute to scouting and coaching
-
As it turns out, IU might have been the only team worthy of a playoff spot this year
-
They definitely are dropping boatloads of NIL money. That's the only way to get players now, really.
-
I wasn't saying the format was a reason. Just that maybe, NIL or otherwise, however the field is determined should not be bending over backwards to protect their teams like what happened this year.
-
Two years in this format and the SEC is 3-6 when not playing SEC teams. The highest ranked opponent among those 3 was #12. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned.
-
Truly the stupidest possible way to make the playoffs but whatever, at least I get to kinda care about football another week.
-
I doubt that will be much of a factor. Last year ND had a 2-day rest disadvantage in the semis vs Penn State and won, then had a 1-day rest advantage for the title game vs Ohio State and lost.
-
And to think they had both in their arsenal and went to those alarm-clock monstrosities for 6 years
-
They 100% do but they won't. One scoring drive, of 19 yards, in the first 55 minutes of this game is just atrocious. Not in position to draft anyone, either.
-
I'm so sick and horsefeathers tired of rooting for this franchise
-
I thought they'd both get smashed. Egg on my face there.
-
Miami could've saved everyone involved a lot of bloviating and controversy if they had played weeks 2-7 like they've played the last 6 weeks.
-
If the last couple years are any indication they're going to change the format no matter what happens
-
Neither did Missouri. Yet it took until the very end of the season for either of them to stop being ranked.
-
Oh I've long since accepted that this run will result in 2 more years of Bryce
-
Seattle is a terrific defensive team and all but what a massive turd bucket of a game on offense by Carolina
-
The "game-winning drives" stat is kinda voodoo anymore especially with how good kickers are, but Bryce Young has an awful lot of them. (This is not an endorsement of Bryce Young as long-term Panthers QB - just an interesting factoid.)
-
Well, hope you guys enjoyed the small conference teams having playoff bids, because the SEC and B1G are going to spend the next 8 months screaming at us about how these results illustrate why those bids need to go.
-
The Saints have 4 wins and 3 of them are over the two teams tied atop the division. I'm starting to wish Carolina had just sucked again. Having being a playoff team, even one that's destined to get crushed by some NFC West wild card, being repeatedly yanked away when it's been forever since the team wasn't a joke is cruel.
-
Transfer portal departures and arrivals have really limited the utility of those practices. Your starting team at the end of a season is almost never going to look that much like the one that takes the field for spring practice.

It sounds like he broke into the mistress' house and was expressing suicidal tendencies? Not a good situation all around.
