I know I shouldn't be mad because he hit it hard, but it always irks me when a guy swings at the first pitch after a 4-pitch walk, especially against a good pitcher. At least give it one shot to see if he's losing his control.
I was thinking earlier today it would be very Cubs, and also very baseball, for them to lose the first series against a crappy team after playing such good baseball against OK to very good teams for a month straight
He's in this slump because he's 40 damn years old and isn't good at baseball anymore. I'm getting really tired of this annual ritual of letting completely toasted players waste outs for a month and a half.
Gangbusters AB for Berti.
I keep hoping these are 2016 "this team is really good and it takes stupid horsefeathers to beat them" losses and not 2023 "you're going to regret not banking wins when this not-that-good team played its best baseball of the year" losses
And no Turner. I'm mostly ambivalent about where Kelly hits, but dumping Dansby down and this seemingly tacit admission that Turner is a corpse are both welcome developments
I'm trying to take it to be more like 2016 than 2023 that it feels like an abnormally large amount of our losses this year have been really really stupid
