Had the game on for like 4 pitches before Sal Frelick got a hit on a pitch at his nose. These guys are the most annoying bunch of players

Good lord, even when the Cubs are atrocious like the Mets are now you can rarely get in the park for less than 4 times that.

They are really poisoning the well by presenting utterly absurd proposals. I know you start with your wish list in negotiation and work your way from there, but by leading with such transparent garbage, I have to think they're emboldening some in the union who might have been a bit more pliable to say 'horsefeathers off' to their cosmetic givebacks that will come later.

Regarding the being outhomered by 4+ discussed earlier, I believe Boog said at some point that the Cubs are 1 and some very large number (60 or so?) going back a while when that happens, so it is not unprecedented

15 RBI in 2 days LMAO

Nights like this you really appreciate the Cubs defense a bit more

Don't look now but Dansby Swanson is starting to hit like a major leaguer again

Until Boyd actually pitches I'm not penciling him back in there.

Unfortunately there is no magic way to escape giving up 400+ foot moonshots

These super-enthusiastic Norwegian fans in the outfield bleachers might end up the highlight of the day

The Cubs have 9 SPs listed on their MLB.com depth chart and 6 are currently on the IL, 2 of them for the second time. Plus 4 relievers.

Ronny Cedeno vs St. Louis in 2006. Same thing. I was horsefeathers livid.

The thing is, though, it's an opportunity cost. The Cubs could have gotten basically what Bregman has provided from a guy they already had for really cheap (Shaw). Outside of the money, which as noted was pretty much the same, the opportunity cost of Schwarber's ABs were the ones that would have gone to Mo Baller or the rotating rest slot the Cubs are largely using the DH for right now. Probably a shallower opportunity cost there. Maybe Bregman starts hitting like he was expected to, but if he's going to be a good-glove guy who doesn't hit like a star, the Cubs already had one of those guys at third base.

Less fun is Cody Bellinger, who we gave away to make room for Tucker, sitting at 2.7

In this guy's defense, baseball started like 3 weeks later than it should/could have because the owners were trying to bully the players into an absolute garbage deal to play the season, so we did get hosed a bit there

For me Coomer is the tiebreaker so it's audio overlay. Pat left the booth midgame on Monday and hasn't been back, I hope he's alright

I am so damn sick and tired of hearing Zach Zaidman say that every single batter hits out of a crouch

Jed has told us every year how stupid it is to devote resources to the bullpen and by only doing so with utter catastrophes like Maton, Ryan Pressly and Hector Neris, he proves himself right over and over again

I thought back to the 'purposely put the first 2 Cubs on' strategy in the 9th last night, but it actually did not work (albeit mostly because the Rockies kept walking people)
  20. Andy
And predictably, no runs score in the inning
  21. Andy
Seiya double bounces over the wall, ensuring the Cubs will need another hit to score in this inning
  22. Andy
102.7 mph when the wind is supposedly blowing out...caught.
  23. Andy
It was pretty obvious Cabrera didn't want to leave the game, FWIW
  24. Andy
Cabrera injury announced as a right hand cramp, which I guess is about as good news as you could ask for there
  25. Andy
The difference between his approach (and obviously his results) in his AB that tied the game last night and those we seem to see a lot from Nico, Dansby and Bregman was jarring
