    Let's not forget that the Sox scored most of their runs via extra-base hits, almost half of them coming directly via the home run. The Sox were not really any more small ball than any other team, they just marketed themselves as such. How many so-called small ball teams have seven 15-homer guys in the lineup?

    That's very interesting. I never knew that Burnett would like to be a Cub. Obviously, most players would at least entertain the idea of being a Cub but I definitely did not think Burnett more so than anyone else liked the idea. Unfortunately for AJ, the starting pitching is the one area that is least likely to be messed with for the Cubs this off season.

    I have a hard time believing that a) Dempster would be in a club in Denver and that b) if he was, that he would be leaking information about who the Cubs would be chasing in the off-season to someone he doesn't know.

    Giles is getting less attention than I expected. Much more focus on Furcal and Burnett. Hopefully this is a good sign as it relates to how much we'll need to get him. Hopefully no one lets Dusty see that Lenny Harris is available. :roll:

    Yeah, I was a little disappointed in that. Rocket's career was unfortunately derailed by injuries. I remember a brief period in the late 90's where he played for my Carolina Panthers and he was my favorite player in the world. My first college football memories are of the Rocket.

    Uh-huh. And how do you "know" that a real Cubs fan wouldn't vote to re-elect the mayor just because he's a Sox fan. I'm sorry, but we DON'T take it that seriously. Just because you work for ESPN, doesn't mean you know everything there is to know about baseball. Sox fans aren't real either. What the heck is this guy saying? How many people became Sox fans just because they got sick of the Cubs? I'd bet just as many as are supposedly Cubs fans just for the Old Style and Wrigley atmosphere. Scoop Jackson is mentally disabled if he honestly thinks Sox fans are somehow "real"-er than the Cubs' fans.

    Yeah. And it featured BYU going for a 2-point conversion in the 4th quarter to tie the game. Instead, the pass was picked off in the end zone and returned 100+ yards for 2 points. The episode also features some PSU player talking to Shamu. I attended a PSU vs. BYU regular season game in which Penn State destroyed the Ty Detmer lead Cougars. Good times This could be a good time to re-launch my "Rocket Ismail for 1990 Heisman" campaign. Seriously, that was pathetic. That was back in the days when Penn State beat every team with a Heisman winner on it. I remember I had a T-Shirt that said "Heisman Graveyard" with the Nittany Lion next to the headstones of Detmer, Vinny Testeverde and Herschel Walker It wasn't just PSU, Detmer was a product of the BYU system, as was exruciatingly proven in the NFL. The classic example came in the team's respective bowl games after the 1990 season, where Detmer threw five picks in his bowl game while Rocket was a BS clipping call away from a national title-reversing punt return for a TD against Colorado.

    If the cubs ever win, I won't be coming here, I'll be waaaay too busy partying. I agree, I would come on here later that night after a long night celebrating, but I would be gone at first if it ever happened.

    Prior's next random BS injury that proves that the Baseball Gods hate him is only a matter of time. Murton should be the left fielder without question. Giles should be the right fielder without question. The question is center field. Will the Cubs try to turn to Pie, will they give Corey another shot, or will they pick up a veteran to man the spot? That and the leadoff situation are probably the two biggest issues of the off-season.

    That was an idiotic move by Guillen. The fact that it worked out perfectly for him (like all his other moves this year) does not change the fact that demoting a lights-out closer is a stupid idea.

    Alan Grant fits that description too, but since he doesn't often write about baseball I will leave it. Scoop Jackson should be insulted by the empty bars. He should be insulted that not enough people in Chicago even care enough about his beloved White Trash to fill bars in Chicago. This fact proves what I already knew: even when you add bandwagon fans to the mix, there STILL aren't that many Sox fans in the city and there never will be.

    Are you saying the southside is going to try to secede? Cause I think we could take them. Don't underestimate the power of a large amount of ghetto trash. They've probably got many more guns than we do and they have the added benefit of having "street smarts".

Too bad I don't live in Chicago...I would have gone out as well, wearing my Cubs stuff proudly. It's a good thing Sox fans probably haven't learned to manipulate fire.     We never considered the Cubs "lovable losers". Was it easier to take losing when we had no expectations? Sure. But as heartbreaking, frustrating, terrible, nausea-inducing, and just overall depressing as it is when we lose now that we have expectations, it will be 1,000,000,000,000 times BETTER when we finally win it all. And when that happens, I'll be right here, celebrating with the greatest Cub fans on earth.

I know several cub fans in cramer, i wonder if ive met him before. by the way, nice picture. hell of a game this past saturday, wasnt it? you heading to lawrence this weekend? I was just wondering how many people here know someone else from the site but don't realize it. I'm sure there's at least one person who attends BSU on this site that I know in some form or fashion but don't know about it.
