  1. Bulls 46 Nets 46 at the break. Chicago shooting 45 percent from the field led by Ben Gordon who has 18 points already, and he hasn't even played the 4th quarter yet! Sweetney also has 10 for the Bulls.
  2. Bulls lead the Nets after one, 24-20. Starters tonight for the Bulls: Duhon Hinrich (yes he is playing) Nocioni Songaila Chandler For the Nets: Jason Kidd Vince Carter Richard Jefferson Jason Collins Nenad Krstic Gordon leads the team right now with nine points as he reeled off a bunch of them at the end of the quarter. Sweetney has six and Duhon has five. Go Bulls!
  3. How does a team stay unbeaten when they seem to fall asleep in the 1st half every week?
  4. ... :-s I'm weird, just leave it at that. :D For the first time since ND/Wash and BSU/WMU in Sept 2004, both the Irish and the Cards win in the same day. Hopefully we'll see it happen again next week! Now it's time for the Bulls game. What a day!
  5. Is it weird that I like to make Wookiee noises when similarly pronounced backup QB David Wolke enters the game for the Irish? Don't answer that... :D
  6. I think the fact that this is the most points scored against Tenn this year says a lot when you look at the other teams Tenn has played. Words fail me about the difference between this team and the 2004 team. 27 offensive points for the Irish today and, as Tom and Pat noted, it seems like the Irish have been "slow" offensively. If ND can routinely score 27 offensive points on a "slow" day, then teams will be hard-pressed to beat ND at all next season, which is why I said after the SC game that ND won't lose again till 2007.
  7. Tommy Z TD!!!!!! INT!!!! Game ball!!!!
  8. DJ with a FG to make it 34-21. I really doubt UT's anemic offense can score two TDs in 4 minutes.
  9. You skipped ND-Tennessee for Ball State football? I hate to question your loyalty, but...c'mon man! It wasn't an easy decision, but in the end I decided that ND was good enough that I need not worry about them. Also, I skipped the BSU/Toledo game in October for the ND/USC game (obviously not a bad decision) and it turned out to be the first BSU home game of my time here that wasn't either a Cardinals win or a really good game, so my superstitions played a role. I took the ND football shirt that I traditionally wear on ND football Saturdays to the game and had it over my shoulder the whole time, so you know my superstitions are king.
  10. I think ND has pretty good control of this one. Granted I didn't get back from the BSU game until it was 21-21 but since then the Irish have looked good. BSU beats Akron 23-17! INT in the end zone on 4th and goal with under 2 mins clinches it for the Cards, who are now .500 in the MAC after 6 games for the first time since who knows when.
  11. It's the bad part of the Big Ten TV deals. Obviously having a game on ESPN or ESPN2 makes it worth it, but it's just another killer for ticket sales. Of course, you could count the # of students who take the first available shuttle at 9 AM to line up at the gate for first row seats with your hands and feet (or hand on some days). On some days you could count the number of students that turn out for the BSU games (and stay the whole time) on your hand anyway. I remember last year, we came back from down 21-3 against Northern Illinois to force overtime before losing 38-31, but by the end there were probably 15-20 students in the crowd.
  12. The defense has turned it around a bit, but the turnover differential is what's keeping this team alive. It basically has to be +2 every game in order to have a good shot at winning. I'd look for each team to score right around 30, so it should be an entertaining one on ESPN. The wildcard is going to be how the offensive line bounces back. I have plenty of faith that the WRs will be fine, but Walker is replacing Belding (the center who had all the holds last week) with another young center who had a terrible case of high snaps to begin the season as the starter. If they can give Basanez more time in the pocket like they have been most of the season, the offense will be that much better. I will say that I hate having to get up at 8:00 for an 11:00 game, though. The great thing about being at a notorious party school like Ball State is that they absolutely refuse to schedule football games before noon because they figure any earlier and no students will be awake to come.
  13. If JH is doing that, and it works, he's a genius. However IMO there's nothing wrong with at least seriously considering the chase of Burnett if only to scare the living crap out of the rest of the NL at the thought of our staff.
  14. Hey, he just robbed the Padres of a decent starter and money in exchange for a guy who stopped being good five years ago. Not a terrible idea. Although I can't believe they wouldn't at least entertain chasing Theo.
  15. That rotation would be, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the best in the game. Do you have any idea how many teams would like to have Greg Maddux as their fifth-best pitcher, even an over-the-hill Maddux? I'm practically drooling just at the thought of this rotation. Of course, kowing our luck there's still the chance of Burnett, Prior and Wood crashing each others' cars together and all breaking their pitching arms beyond repair or something like that.
  16. Brian Lawrence is a pretty damn good young pitcher, and they ship him out for an old guy who's not that good at a position where they already have a solution (Burroughs)? This is a terrible move. Kevin Towers clearly has some sort of grudge against the organization or something to make this move.
  17. Why is the relative ability of the two teams defined as what happend in the last 7 games of the year. The Indians were better over the last 81, why not use that definition? They were 4 games better than the Sox in the 2nd half, and made up 8 games in pythagorean standings which are supposed to measure a team's true ability. The Indians will finish ahead of the White Sox next year barring injury problems. You forget how easy the Indians schedule was over the last month and a half. They beat up on the Rays/Royals/Tigers for a long time. Only because the Sox had been hogging all the fun in the first half of the season.
  18. My sentiments exactly. I don't trade Z unless someone absolutely bowls me over with an offer.
  19. I'd do it for Bobby Abreu and Brett Meyers. That would be a disaster of massive proportions for this team. I don't think it would be a bad trade. Zambrano is a great pitcher. Abreu is a great hitter. Myers has comparable stuff to Z (maybe better), strikes out a ton of guys, is the same age. I edited the post if you included Utley, I do it, you solve 3 problems. For a guy who still has control problems from time to time, and the big inning sometimes. Z's only 24. He'll fix that big inning problem in time and once he does multiple Cy Youngs could be in his future.* * If the media gets off their Wood/Prior fixation.
  20. The best part is that Gordon, Songaila and Piatkowski also had big roles in the comeback. I love this team. :D
  21. I agree with this. Especially since I've heard from a couple Phillies fans that Abreu doesn't hit in the clutch and his swing was messed up the entire second half from the home run derby. When is Zambrano scheduled to become a FA? Abreu hits "in the clutch". He had a poor second half by his standards, and that's apparently causing some things to be said about him(much like A-Rod) that simply aren't true. Zambrano is a Free Agent after the 2007 season. I'd expect an extension for Carlos before the 07 season unless he breaks down sometime in 2006 (which I don't think he'll do).
  22. *applause* :D
  23. Songaila Duhon Piatkowski Gordon Those are my idols. Duhon triple double, Songaila, Pike and Gordon with huge 4th quarters. I love this team!! Bring on New Jersey!
  24. This is AMAZING. Darius Songaila = Ben Gordon II Chris Duhon = 1 board from a triple double Ben Gordon = Reviving the 4th quarter magic. GO BULLS! Up 102-100 with 3 mins left in OT.
  25. Young has 700 fewer yards than Leinart, 4 TD less than Quinn and 2 more INT than Leinart. He's getting pub for torching the worst team in his conference after sleepwalking in the first half.
