  1. i'd be so drunk, the sign would be upside down and i'd be in my birthday suit. I'd be upside down in my birthday suit.
  2. That was probably, between Mongo and the Gutierrez play, my 2nd-favorite regular season game of all time. The 1st, of course, being the division-clinching game in 03. :D
  3. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Bears saw replica sales of those stupid orange things and decided to wear them. I hate almost all alternate NFL jerseys.
  4. What he said. Name the last time Hendry traded the best prospect in the organization and got fleeced. (no, the Dontrelle trade does not qualify) Cruz for Pratt? If Juan Cruz is the best prospect in our organization, or if he ever was, then I shudder at the thought of the future of the Cubs. "Two years ago, Juan Cruz ranked with Mark Prior as the top prospects in the Cubs farm system. But Cruz has been unable to claim a spot in Chicago's rotation and the club tired of waiting for him to live up to his potential. On Thursday, the Cubs stopped waiting, trading him and minor league lefthander Steve Smyth to the Braves for two prospects, lefty Andy Pratt and second baseman Richard Lewis." From Baseball America. :| He was also the #6 prospect in ALL OF BASEBALL in 2002 according to BA, ahead of Mark Teixeira and Joe Mauer among others. I am intrigued as to what anyone in Baseball America saw in Cruz. Apart from his impressive first start late in 2001, he never once did anything close to living up to his potential.

Does anyone know if that pick is conditional? Like, if the Knicks get a top 2 pick or something, they keep it? I read somewhere it was conditional, but I asked the question on basketballboards.net's Bulls board (best Bulls message board out there btw) and they said it was unprotected I'm on that board as well, same name as on here.

Wow, please keep sucking Knicks. How awesome would it be to have a shot at having the first pick next year???
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if the calendar turns to 2006 before Giles has a team for next season. The longer he waits, the better our chances become IMO.
  8. pierre's doesn't look that good imo Pierre wouldn't look good in any uniform as long as he wears his hat sideways :D

  10. Whenever a white man wears a 'do-rag, it is a sure sign of comedy gold.
  11. Nobody is saying that the pitching wasn't much better in 2005 than it was in 2004. That certainly was necessary to accomplish what they did. But if you were to put the Sox's 2004 offense on the 2005 team, I don't think they win the division, let alone the World Series. I say this because the 2005 offense was much more consistent from night to night than 2004's higher-scoring offense that was often all-or-nothing. Didn't the White Sox win like fifteen 1-0 games this year? The only way the 2005 offense was consistent was in their mediocrity. edit - The Sox won 17 games this year in which they scored 2 runs or fewer. If they end up going 10-7 in those games rather than 17-0, they're not in the playoffs.

In a manner of speaking, we do. We can trade 1st-round picks with the Knicks in the 2007 draft if they end up with a higher pick than we do. Also part of the Curry trade. IMO if we use those draft picks well and Sweets keeps playing well, we could end up making out like bandits in that deal.
  13. I can't believe that: (A) this joke wasn't made before (B) I didn't think of that joke before you made it
  14. Dontrelle had more wins, and I thought that was the only important statistic. *sarcasm* Considering Carpenter pitched for the St. Louis Pujols and D-Train pitched for the Florida Fighting Lo Ducas that's even more impressive. He also had a lower ERA.
  15. This debate begins and ends with Mike Fetters. http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/4396.jpg http://starbulletin.com/1999/11/05/sports/artb.jpg http://www.subkorea.com/sports/baseball/chanho/2001/hu/p07ap2.jpg
  16. Agreed. Where would the Chargers be right now if Phil Rivers hadn't held out? After all, it was pretty much Rivers's job if he had just shown up.
  17. If Hendry knows we can get Bradley for little more than a mid-level prospect and maybe a Rule 5 arm, then he'd be absurdly dumb not to jump on it.
  18. Why is this good news? Cedeno might hit like Neifi and Furcal will be hard pressed to outproduce what Walker did last year. Since Neifi had a good year at short, on a net basis the Cubs will be no better off. If you sign Furcal, leave Walker at second, Neifi on the bench and Cedeno at Iowa. If I'm not mistaken, Furcal hit 15 homers last season and had an OBP as good or better than Walker. IMO it won't be all that difficult for Furcal to surpass Todd's rate of production from 04-05. Edit - It should be noted that I want a Furcal/Walker middle infield for next year. I just don't see it happening anymore. :(
  19. Good deal for both teams. Rowand could hit 30 homers in Colorado, the Rockies probably couldn't afford Helton going into his next contract anyway, and the Sox end up paying less to Helton than they would for Konerko for similar production.
  20. That's not terrible. Probably more than what Furcal is worth, but it's not grossly overpaying. I'll take it.
  21. How old is Pierre? I thought they have done many studies on "speedster single hitters" and how their production falls after a certain age. Pierre turned 28 in August, and is a free agent after this season. This should make him pretty cheap for the Cubs player wise...right? Cuse, they've been speculating all morning on the Score (take with a grain of salt) that they're talking up a straight swap of Patterson for Pierre. I'm not high on Pierre, but I would do that deal in half a second and walk away from the bargaining table laughing my head off.
  22. It seems inNeiffable :D that the Cubs will sign Furcal. I like the move if we don't give him TOO much money, but I expect a deal done by the end of next week at the latest.
  23. I'd like: Mackowiak, Wigginton, Helms, or Branyan I still think we're going to end up with: Macias/Neifi
  24. Good luck with that, Florida. I'm sure Hendry wanted Miguel Tejada for Sammy Sosa, too, but in a salary dump you can't expect to get back equal value, and Pie has a HIGHER trade value than Pierre. I don't blame them for throwing his name out there but they're foolish if they think we're throwing Felix at them.
