    Jayson Stark just said that he expects Bradley to be a Cub. "Maybe not this week", said Stark, but he thinks Bradley will end up on the North Side.

    Damon Buford? No no no. If anything, the number should be retired in honor of Scott McClain. :wink: That said, the number should be open for Pierre once he gets around to picking his Cubs uniform number. Henry Blanco, Jody Gerut and Scott McClain all had flings with the number 9 last season. But Pierre will get his 9.

    Probably a decent move by Tampa. Brazelton has shown little more than flashes in the couple of years he's been with the big club. Most likely, it's just trading damaged goods for damaged goods, though.

    I think that if SF can come within two of the Seahawks, then the Colts can certainly beat Seattle.

    What was the biggest reason DLee and Co. couldn't drive in more runs for the Cubs: Answer: There was never anyone on base. What does Juan Pierre specialize in: Answer: Getting on base. This is a good move.

    At this point, that's the best lineup we can realistically hope for. I think with our three horses all allegedly healthy, that offense would be more than enough to have a realistic shot at contending.

    I'm going to guess Washington. Bowden loves toolsy guys. Any confirmation on whether a pitching prospect is actually included or not? Cubs.com disagrees with who is included in the deal. They say that it's only Pinto and Nolasco and the Marlins are sending a prospect back. ESPN.com says it's all three with no prospect coming back. Time will tell...

    I'm buying the official Cubs.com article over an ESPN.com article. The Cubs.com version sounds better anyway. :D NSAvenger, if Hendry somehow comes out of this with Vargas, I will remove my I Hate Jim Hendry BandWGN and vow that it will never return.

    Just in case you missed, he wasn't implying they aren't studs, just thought (as did I) that it was funny that a professional web site would refer to players as studs. I could've sworn that the term "young studs" was pretty normal in baseball journalism. In opinion columns, but not on official "corporate" web sites. Ok, this is way too off-topic. Back to the topic at hand - does NSBB officially endorse this deal or not? :P

    This is what I was referring to. A professional web site using "studs" is a little off. "Highly rated prospects" is one thing, but I still think it is funny that a professional website is talking about "studs" in the minor leagues. Of course, they have to keep their few fans' interest somehow I guess.

    That's what I was referring to. Jim's pretty good with scooping up good prospects from other teams...I'll bet whoever it is, has a decent shot at one day playing big league ball at a high level.

    No it is not old, and that is REALLY GOOD news...the best part is this blurb: Not only would we not have to give up more than two prospects, but Hendry looks to squeeze a pitching prospect out of Florida. I'm not a huge Pierre fan, but I really like this deal if it happens as printed.

    Wow, I want to see something done but we shouldn't need three highly rated prospects for a one-year rental from a team selling their team for spare parts. Again, Cub fan myopia. "Highly-rated prospects?" Here's Rotoworld's take (boldface is mine)-- The Chicago Tribune believes the Cubs are offering pitchers Sergio Mitre, Ricky Nolasco and Renyel Pinto to the Marlins for Juan Pierre. Not bad, though the Marlins could try to do better. If acquired, Mitre would go right into Florida's rotation. The other two should probably begin the year in Triple-A. Dec. 7 - 12:53 am et Yep, Cub fans wearing Harry's glasses might be a more accurate phrase. Like Choi, and Cruz, and Hill and countless other crappy prospects traded away when Cubs fans thought they were sooo good. Just make the trade and get someone who will be guaranteed to be our leadoff guy and then gocus on SS/RF. None of the pitchers mentioned have a higher ceiling than #3 and that's only one of them perhaps. They aren't as good as we think they are. If I'm wrong, I'll eat a lot of crow. As I recall, Choi got us DLee, Hill helped us get Ramirez, and before the 2003 season I remember reading (in SI, not just a Chicago-based publication) we could have traded Cruz straight up for Shea Hillenbrand if we'd wanted to. That to me sounds pretty good.

    I will refrain from making comment$. That's ridiculous. 1400 dollars of DVDs? How does any college STUDENT have that much money, let alone a football player that doesn't have time to get a fulltime job in the summers?

    Tough call. I'd give the edge to the Colts just because the media jumps all over any team that starts 8-0 or better, adding more pressure. The Colts also don't have the luxury of recruiting all the best college players just to be backups for them. (No I'm not bitter.)
