  1. Please let that inning be an indicator of absolutely nothing, Craig
  2. I've heard him call himself Boog, but when he opened the broadcast the other day he said Jon.
  3. Adding to what UMFan said, MLB Network is running a number of spring training broadcasts either live or on delay, so you'll probably be able to pick up several non-Marquee games that way, including tonight's against LA.
  4. Whatever you call it, that was a really pretty full-extension swing and a nice AB to get from 1-2 to 3-2 leading up to it
  5. Not that there was any reason to think otherwise, but Boog and JD sound good together.
  6. Proud card-carrying member of the Always Liked Jason Heyward club. It was depressing when he was sucking and I thoroughly enjoy not dreading his at-bats.
  7. Yeah I assume this is on the Padres. I'll never understand why teams don't heavily prioritize the first few ST games though. Like I'm sure there's some considerations I'm not thinking of, but what could they be that you'd rather air a 30 year old episode of bass masters or whatever horsfeathers RSNs typically air on Monday afternoons? Especially when no one is going to get on your case for having the broadcasters do the game remotely.
  8. Isn’t that all sorted out in market? They’re with all the providers, even streaming services, aren’t they? Out of market you still need MLB TV to watch them or Extra Innings (or whatever it’s called if your cable/dish provider has it). No, I believe it was never on YoutubeTV and Hulu dropped it after the season. I think you can rule out YTTV. Neither side seems to have any interest in a deal there. YTTV has none of their RSNs.
  9. Marquee announced today that Chris Myers, Pat Hughes and Beth Mowins will rotate filling in for Jon Sciambi when he is on ESPN duty.
  10. Take it FWIW, but one reporter (can't remember which) said that he actually had better offers and chose this one instead.
  11. Give me 1 or 2 throwback nights at Wrigley where he's got it working like 2015-16 and I really won't care much what else happens from this.
  12. Nothing sums up MLB like keeping the 2 stupid-ass rule changes from last year and not keeping the one that actually made sense.
  13. A lot less than you think. Which isn't a knock on Brady. He was smart enough to know Tampa Bay was the best situation available (certainly way better than New England) and took it. Top of my head TB, Buffalo, Miami (with all their draft and spending capital), SF, both LA teams, Baltimore, Saints, Broncos, and Indy? I'm not sure about Miami or Denver, and maybe not Indy, but all the others, yeah, there'd be a chance. And who am I to say he couldn't do it with those 3

  15. Literally nothing else matters this off-season now
  16. The owners' current offer seems eminently reasonable outside of the expanded playoffs thing. The players absolutely should fight that. Not even as much about the money, though as Tom points out that's clearly ridiculous too, but because they know damn well what the result would be in terms of owners trying to field good teams.
  17. Thank you for saving Carolina from itself, Rams (and Lions)

    Bulls '20-'21

I don't know how this works exactly but The Athletic's Bulls writer said she is one of the few non-staff (whatever that means) refs working games this season.
  19. The problem is the whole NL Central is a dumpster fire, regardless of this move. It’s a race to 85 wins +/-. The 2005 Padres won the west at 82-80, and that appears to be the lowest wins for a division winner ever in a 162 game season after a quick google search, the NL central may challenge that this year. The 2006 Cardinals went 83-78 to win the WS. I’m still pissed about it 1994 AL West would've shattered this record had the season been completed. When the strike occurred, Texas was leading the division at 52-62.
  20. I'm sure someone STL has given away in one of these trades since Dan Haren in the Mark Mulder deal has turned out to be pretty good, but I don't remember any of them.
  21. If only we could count on that, but it's been well documented that the wildly different things the ball does in Colorado screws with guys when they're away from Colorado, so he'll probably be awesome.

    Joc

Supposedly his contact profile is slightly better. And he's likely going to be better in LF than Schwarber. So it's a small upgrade, I guess. Personally, I've always liked Joc, so this is all fine.
  23. I don't think they can actually make any trade right now right? They can't be officially processed until March but they can be agreed to at any time.
  24. I'm ashamed of myself that this actually surprises me. MLB owners aren't just acting cartoonishly evil, they are so horsefeathering stupid. (And to be clear, it's possible the health situation really should force a postponement of spring training, but we all know MLB owners would give two shits about that if it weren't for the fact that they can slice players' paychecks by doing so.)
