    Len took some time to start doing that too. It wasn't until the Aramis game winner against Milwaukee (to me anyway) that he truly felt like our guy, and that was his 3rd year here.

    Boog is excellent at the job and he and JD are fun together. There's an ineffable warmth the Len/JD team brought that isn't quite there for me yet, and it's probably got a lot to do with the fact that I got so used to Boog as a national voice. But our booth continues to be among the best in the game.

    Fun and/or pointless fact: I covered the kid that put the ball in play. He went to a local high school. That team also faced Syndergaard yesterday. Talk about your 'welcome to the pros' moment for any first-timers in that lineup.

    Seems suboptimal that in the 8th inning of a close game we trail we have PJ Higgins and Eric Sogard taking consecutive at bats

    Cubs night games before Memorial Day and after Labor Day have been starting at 6:30 since 2019.

    He should be fired over this. Not remotely joking. But of course if this wasn't what Reinsdorf wanted he wouldn't have hired him to begin with.

    It's definitely 5-3. Not sure what's going on with MLB's real-time feed. Nico never hit a home run today. Not sure where that came from.

    What a stunning turn of events that leaving Zach Davies in to waste an out by bunting in the 5th resulted in him taking 3 damn pitches to give the one-run (could've been more without the wasted out) lead against the so-called softer part of the Nationals lineup.

    Holy hell. Got to be the best play he's made as a Cub.

    I'm not sure we ever found out. He went to the Dodgers as an off-field person in 2019 and when the Tampa Bay Times talked to him about it he just called it a "parting of the ways" and didn't go any further.

    I don't know which part you're being smart-aleck about, but I believe several if not all of those 8 had been vaccinated. 7 of the 8, last I had read, have no symptoms, and the 8th only mild ones, which of course is the point of getting the vaccine to begin with.

    Probably not great that I can easily pick moments he's come through because they stand out that much but 4 quick ones I can think of: -Walk off single against the Mets earlier this season -Go ahead 3 run HR off of Hader in the 9th of a game the Cubs were trailing -Walk off grand slam against the Phillies in 2018 -Game winning single in Jon Lester 1 hitter against the Giants in 2016 Yeah, considering how freaking terrible he has been for pretty much his entire Cubs career, he's come through probably more often than he should have.

    Davies took what 3 pitches to piss away that lead? (Of course, it's absurd that we only have 1 run to begin with.)

    Not nearly as good a fake rally as Sunday's

    And right on cue Duffy dumps one into RF for another hit.

    Hindsight is 20/20 but I'm not sure I'd put the inning in Nick Martini's hands there by sending Joc on 3-2 when Duffy and Rizzo are the next 2 up.

    Both broadcasts are using the same feed, and I'm not seeing anything, so it must just be something the network is doing.
