  1. I meant MLB as the company line. I'm sure the Ricketts would rather have the extra 4 innings of gameplay over these 2 games. But I'm pretty sure 7-inning doubleheaders will never go away now.
  2. Every team's fans feel like this, probably, but it's incredible how none of the Daniel Descalso types ever seem to get hurt but our only semi-reliable veteran starter and the non-Bryant guy providing the biggest jolt to the offense go on the injured list on the same day.
  3. Drop Hiura at DH, add Shohei Ohtani. Bye-bye to my first-half transactions. Still at $1K.
  4. No idea how the tickets work but think they kept the 7-inning DH thing to help limit pitcher innings/fatigue off the shortened year. That's the company line. I wonder what the company line will be next year when they're still here.
  5. Not one tiny bit. I can't know for sure, but I honestly think that and the 7 inning doubleheader crap are part of the reason I'm slightly less into baseball. Like if they're not going to take the sport seriously, why should I.
  6. I don't know that he's much of a pro QB, but I also didn't think he was much of a college QB and he proved that loud wrong. Chances are he never starts a game barring injury but I can't imagine a QB room is worse for having him in it.
  7. He just started yelling at Rizzo after he struck him out. Just clown behavior. It wasn't Rizzo who objected to it, it seemed like, it was Javy (who of course has his own problems with Garrett).
  8. I'm really tired of Garrett and his antics. Prance and preen all you want after you strike a guy out, but yelling directly at a guy like some tough guy is some [expletive].
  9. By lollygagging around 2nd. Christ it's not like Castellanos flubbing the ball is some miraculous occurrence.
  10. Nice baserunning, you moron
  11. I'd agree as a MAC fan. Obviously this isn't the first time they've hired a Buffalo guy, but Turner Gill wasn't really even very good at Buffalo except for getting piss lucky in one MAC title game at 7-5 (speaking as an alum of the team he got piss lucky against); Leipold turned Buffalo into a consistent MAC threat for 3 years running, a pretty remarkable feat, and has a strong resume at UW-Whitewater in D-III to back him up. He may or may not end up working out, but it was the right decision.
  12. I swear I'm not pandering, but if Carolina wasn't going to take the shot at Fields (they really seem to like Jaycee Horn and I'm guessing they were concerned if they traded down they'd lose him), I'm glad he's in Chicago. That franchise really needed a jolt of excitement.
  13. And right on cue, The Athletic has released a report today saying that a 12-team CFP with 4 byes is gaining support. 12 teams? They would somehow still figure out a way to include a 9-3 SEC team over an 11-1 Group-of-Five team A 12-team format would likely include 1 guaranteed G5 spot. However, with 6 at-larges, you're not wrong about the SEC part.

  15. Starting to think Brandon Workman might not work out.

    Bulls '20-'21

Unless I missed something, both the '21 and '23 pick are top-4 protected, although I haven't seen anything on how those picks are conveyed if they fall in the top 4.
  17. I thought he was DFA'd?Passed through waivers, was brought back today because Romine is hurt again.
  18. ICYMI, and they hope you did, the CFP people said they played around with dozens of potential expansion scenarios before saying they're happy with the current one, which essentially confirms that they're expanding the thing by the time the current contract ends, if not before.
  19. Remarkably rude of Anderson to get himself injured before the Cubs can tee off on him any more than they did in that 1st inning.
  20. The answer is zero. Zero chance. They'll never get rid of it, and I suspected as soon as they implemented it in the minors that they were probably going to shove it into MLB at some point. Frankly, I'm less than 50/50 that they'll even get rid of 7-inning doubleheaders now.
  21. Bryant steals 2nd but gets dinged by the split-second he might have possibly been not touching the base. That rule needs to get junked (with the requisite caveat that we probably won a playoff series because of it)
  22. Like Boog said, the ump should have made no call if anything, but Alonso did brush the base on the stretch for the ball. No challenge for the Mets, so Cubs got a break. Luckily, Joc and Javy bat right behind KB right now, so no harm done for the Mets.
  23. Screw it, drop Baez, add Tatis, and next time someone suffers a seemingly crippling injury it better actually be one.
  24. First elite fake rally of the year.
