  1. It's definitely 5-3. Not sure what's going on with MLB's real-time feed. Nico never hit a home run today. Not sure where that came from.
  2. What a stunning turn of events that leaving Zach Davies in to waste an out by bunting in the 5th resulted in him taking 3 damn pitches to give the one-run (could've been more without the wasted out) lead against the so-called softer part of the Nationals lineup.
  3. Holy hell. Got to be the best play he's made as a Cub.
  4. I'm not sure we ever found out. He went to the Dodgers as an off-field person in 2019 and when the Tampa Bay Times talked to him about it he just called it a "parting of the ways" and didn't go any further.
  5. I don't know which part you're being smart-aleck about, but I believe several if not all of those 8 had been vaccinated. 7 of the 8, last I had read, have no symptoms, and the 8th only mild ones, which of course is the point of getting the vaccine to begin with.
  6. Probably not great that I can easily pick moments he's come through because they stand out that much but 4 quick ones I can think of: -Walk off single against the Mets earlier this season -Go ahead 3 run HR off of Hader in the 9th of a game the Cubs were trailing -Walk off grand slam against the Phillies in 2018 -Game winning single in Jon Lester 1 hitter against the Giants in 2016 Yeah, considering how freaking terrible he has been for pretty much his entire Cubs career, he's come through probably more often than he should have.
  7. Davies took what 3 pitches to piss away that lead? (Of course, it's absurd that we only have 1 run to begin with.)
  8. Not nearly as good a fake rally as Sunday's
  9. And right on cue Duffy dumps one into RF for another hit.
  10. Hindsight is 20/20 but I'm not sure I'd put the inning in Nick Martini's hands there by sending Joc on 3-2 when Duffy and Rizzo are the next 2 up.
  11. Bryant out of the game for some reason
  12. Both broadcasts are using the same feed, and I'm not seeing anything, so it must just be something the network is doing.
  13. Without looking it up I'd say it's damn near impossible because it wasn't until this century that guys were signing long enough contracts to keep getting run out there long after they stopped being any good.
  14. The rule is dumb but that was a hell of a sweep. 3 of the best pitchers on the planet and we win with Hendricks, bullpen day and Alzolay. Golden opportunity to get some momentum going against Pittsburgh.
  15. Bold strategy by Kyle Ryan to pitch like he's terrified anything in the zone will be hit out of the park
  16. No more hats to the left, for now at least.
  17. It's watermarked now, but still floating around the Web http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg This is taken from a 2008 game thread that was 41 pages long.
  18. Bote flashing some major leather over there at 3B tonight. Andrew Chafin continues to be awesome.
  19. I don't think I've ever seen that contact play work. A guy either would've scored anyway on a base hit or he gets thrown out by 10 feet like Rizzo just was.
  20. I don't live in the area anymore and don't get Marquee but Len was a mercenary just like everyone else. I remember him doing a nationally televised cubs game and had to get excited for any big play for or against the Cobs. Surprised he didn't end up going to the Brew Crew. i know he was just a mercenary too, but the reason he didn't act excited for good cubs plays during nationally televised games was because he had to remain impartial. all announcers do that. I actually recall being fascinated at how different he sounded calling our good plays on FOX versus local broadcasts. That's got to take some work.
  21. He hasn't yet. Didn't start either game today. Wildly uneducated guess is he'll be back in the lineup within a day or two, otherwise they would've IL'd him as well.
