  1. Considering Dusty and Sammy's last public conversation, I doubt this would be the case.
  2. What did he do in that AB? First pitch swinging like he preaches or base on balls which he used to do a lot? Doubled.
  3. Probably should tone it down a little...but I agree with your main points All rihgt fine. But you get the idea that Buerhle, Pierzynski, Ozzie, and their fans make you hate the team. Oh, absolutely. I was just referring to the D-word (family site). Everything else was spot-on.

The exception that proves the rule? Wallace is the best rebounder since Rodman, so I'd take a shot on him being another exception.
  5. Not a bad idea, and he's certainly loved enough in the area that it could be pulled off. I'm sure he also has at least some sort of concept of OBP's value. I'm all for anything that gets a reasonably intelligent human being in the dugout.

  7. Greg Maddux deserves better than this. :( Maybe we can trade him to STL or the White Sox, then he can put up Cy Young-caliber stats the remainder of the year
  8. Not that I don't agree with you, but what does this have to do with the topic at hand?
  9. If opposing pitchers had simply not thrown Dubois any fastballs, he would've never made it out of A ball. That's probably got a lot to do with it.

Ben is a free agent and the Bulls are the leading contender to get him if Detroit doesn't re-sign him (which I think is likely).
  11. Womack coming up to the Cubs appears to be inNeiffable.
  12. Vazquez for a month and a half of El Duque and Luis Vizcaino. Thanks for helping out the Sox even more, fellas.
  13. Well, WSI has a forum dedicated to the "loveable losers". And it is an extremely popular forum. Yes, Sox fans still obsess over the Cubs. They're still almost as happy about this mess as they are about their own team once again coasting to a pennant.
  14. The pitching staff is "getting off easy" because the Cubs are 29th in BA, last in OBP and last in SLG. If the staff was this bad we'd be getting on their backs, too, but no one can win with this offense.
  15. I wonder if any team has ever won that particular Triple Crown. We could see history made this season. * * DLee probably wouldn't let this happen once he came back. Trade him!
  16. I don't see how it could get much worse than this, but to say it can't is tempting the Baseball Gods. The torture has, no doubt, only begun.
  17. I don't think Gammons is buying it. He's the only national voice with that opinion, though. Gammons for GM! :P I kid. He picked Nomar to win the 2005 NL MVP. Let's not go too far.
  18. I've accepted that he's pretty much finished. I put the blame squarely on Baker. I don't know if Baker is directly responsible, but he certainly did nothing to HELP the matter. I agree. Dusty can't be fully blamed, because no amount of pitcher abuse would completely end someone's career for no given structural or physical reason. But he definitely could've handled it much better than he did.

  20. Well, Brad Thompson made his first start for the team and didn't throw a shutout, so it had to be made up for somehow.
  21. Nomar and DLee = dumb luck. Pierre was a bad trade. The others can mainly be attributed to the coaching staff.

    LMAO

No, the real tragedy of Lee's injury is that one of the classiest players in the game will never get back to his superstar form after signing a bank-breaking contract that the organization he felt so close to will be regretting for years to come. Sorry. I pray that you're wrong. :(
