  1. Some people think that price actually meant 8 million annual (obviously too much). Heyman's tweets aren't clear. While true, he's been worth 7.7 WAR over the past 6 seasons. If you take away 10 and 11, its 7.3 over 4. At 2.0 last year, I could see 2/16 being his price. Not a bargain, by any stretch, but I wouldn't be pissed either. Why would you take away 2 of his 3 most recent seasons? Because it'd make my argument more feasible.
  2. Lovie's effect on personnel decisions did not come into play as much until after he made it to the Super Bowl. New GM, no idea how Emery will handle this. he was the GM last year when the OL needed reform and he did nothing Sorry for the late response, but 1st year into a regime, with extremely little available in FA and a less than stellar crop in the draft as well. Plus, a likely idea he'd have a new coach/offense in the very near future. He took what was available for the offense- The best WR the team has ever seen and his eventual sidekick that showed plenty of flashes in his time on the field as well. The line is the most important thing needed, he took a year to evaluate the youngsters we had, now we'll see how many changes are made. You can't just conjure up an O-Line. He addressed part of the offense extremely well last offseason, because there were options. Now, he'll do tge rest.

  4. We picked an offensive mind who works great with QB's, has experience with Cutler, and knows he needs to revamp the O-Line. Time to watch it play out. But it's hard to argue the premise. The change in culture has been needed for a long time.
  5. NICE! That's great. DeCamillis was rumored to really want the Bears ST job. Kind of explains the six hour interview.
  6. You do realize that Correa was the number one talent on the board for quite a few people, right?
  7. I think I like it. Of course, thats based on Gruden, Young, Gannon, etc speaking so positively about him. At any rate, I definitely am happy we went with an offensive guy. My question about Trestman is why he moved around SO much in the NFL, from OC to QB Coach and back to the other, when he was getting positive results?
  8. NFL source tells Biggs it's Trestman.
  9. Wow, tough market for relievers. Juan Cruz just signed a minor league deal with the Phils. I'd take him over Camp anyway.
  10. Probably nobody, but Ross just got 3/27, so I guess its possible that's his asking price. I read it to mean 8 mill over 2 years personally, just playing devils advocate.
  11. By the way, we've still not even added Villanueva. We've heard nothing about any issues, so whats the holdup? Are we THAT unsure about DFA'ing someone? I gotta think there's at least a small trade brewing to open a spot or two up somehow or he'd have been added by now.

  13. Heyman said Yankees not involved and Mets balked at 2/8 on Hairston. If so, I think he's a good get for us, especially at that price.
  14. I actually think after hearing how complimentary Young and Gannon are towards him, he's at the top of my list. Arians may be my least favorite of the 3, the more involved things have gotten.
  15. Not Cubs related, but Boras got Soriano a 2/28 deal with the Nats. I'd say there's no question he finds homes for Bourn and Lohse now. Potentially involving the Cubs though, Hairston is making his decision this week.
  16. Honest: Brent Musberger's sign off of the Kansas-Baylor game tonight: "For Fran Fraschilla and Holly Rowe, who was really smokin' tonight, so long from Lawrence."
  17. Jensen says Arians IS a finalist as well.
  18. Arians canceled an interview with Philly for tomorrow. Guess it's possible he's still in it with us? Trestman vs Bevell? Not sure I have a favorite, but either is OK with me.
  19. I looked at Clayton's projections, we're around 13 mill under the cap currently. 14 other teams have more money than we do, some with astronomical amounts(Cincy-55 mill, Indy 46 mill). Is keeping Melton and adding a legit LT in FA truly feasible? Peppers and Tillman almost have to renegotiate, it seems to me. Other than Hester, is there anyone we can cut that'd save us a chunk?
  20. Evidently Hairston Jr was on the radio this weekend and mentioned the Cubs as a possibility for his brother, due to his prior relationship with Hoyer. Interesting, since we've not really been connected and he reportedly was down to just the two New York teams. Soriano in left, DeJesus and Hairston platoon in CF and Schierholtz/Sappelt platoon in RF, with Hairston getting a start a week in LF for Soriano too possibly? I think it'd be a shockingly very productive OF.
  21. Yeah, to be clear, I think Olt IS a better prospect than Vitters, glove being the big reason. Vitters likely won't stick at 3B, Olt can. I love rankings as much as anyone, but Olt seems like a Wil Myers type to me: Ranking is much higher than he's actually valued by other teams. Hell, I can even see Levine's comments about other teams liking Vitters more than we do being true.(no, not comparing those two individual value)
  22. I am an Olt fan, not really a Vitters fan......But, Vitters put up a .304/.356/.513 line in AAA at 22, with 77K's in 415 at bats. Olt, at 23, put up a .288/.398/.579 line with 101K's in 354 at bats. Both in hitters leagues, Olt probably playing in MORE of one than Vitters even. Davidson? .261/.367/.469 in AA, neutral league for hitters, at 21. I'd rather get pitching and leave 3B alone, unless Headley or another established guy under 30 becomes available. Between Vitters, Villanueva, Baez, and Candelario, I think we'll find a solid 3B from within. Like I said, I'd take Olt, but I wouldn't be jumping for joy, the more I look at things. Davidson just seems a little redundant, not sure he's even as good of a prospect as Vitters.
  23. Blackburn, Martin, and Zych, with Rondon a close 4th. I think Blackburn could move fairly quick and mid rotation upside shouldn't be held against him. Martin is raw, but surprised at Boise and has solid upside as a legit CFer. Zych wouldn't shock me if he makes the team out of ST. If not, I do expect him to get plenty of major league time this season.
  24. Franchise LT's are obviously hard as hell to find. Yeah, I think Long is gone, but even hurt, I think Miami can trade him for relatively solid value.
  25. Runoff for 23 and 24 time, with voting on 25?
