  1. I threw that out there because they're trying to compete and they only have Felix for 2 more years. I think it's close to fair value myself, but we could lengthen it some, if need be.
  2. Texas is extremely unlikely to help us in getting Stanton. They've supposedly got a Profar-led package on the table themselves. While it was just reported Seattle hss had conversations with the Marlins, my guess is they wouldn't mind helping us, because it'd keep Stanton out of their division.
  3. I don't see the FO dealing Rizzo, or Castro, for that matter. But, say you can deal Shark to Seattle for Hultzen and Franklin, then flip them, along with Baez, either Vogelback or Candelario, and either Jackson or Vitters, maybe you're in the ballpark?
  4. ABTY says we're trying to put together a "hard to say no to" type package for Stanton. Could involve us trading SP for prospects in 3-4 team deals.
  5. So, worst case scenario is to interview him, we may have to wait out Green Bay's playoff run, right? If that IS the case, would we be willing to do that?
  6. I think if interviewing for a promotion, the current team has to allow it.
  7. A few rumors going around that Dodgers and Mariners have been working on a 7 player deal involving Ethier. If something like that were to happen, I'd bet Bourn winds up a Dodger. They've wanted a leadoff hitter, Seattle has been hesitant to part with the 12th pick in the draft, but need OF help. No clue what this would do to Soriano's market, if it happened.
  8. Why do this? Unfair to hold onto one or two, in hopes they'd be retained by new coach, while letting others walk?
  9. Going after McCoy sounds like the right idea, but I'll play devils advocate on that one somewhat. How much did he really have to do with everything this year? Peyton kind of brings his own show to town anyway......
  10. yes. I'm pleasantly surprised, similar to after the Marshall trade. But then the rest of the offseason happened and the draft, which negated much of that optimism. Hope this works out better. I'll give Emery benefit of the doubt on the O-Line for one year. Obviously, its got to be addressed in a big way now. I guess I could see that being yhe point of emphasis, with the D getting a few stopgaps. I don't know why you'd give him the benefit of the doubt. It was a blatantly obvious need that didn't just get pushed to the backburner, it was completely ignored. Angelo ended up spending 3 first round picks on OL in his tenure but even with that his overall stance was to ignore it. I can't remember for sure, but FA was completely void of O-Line help last year, wasn't it? I wasn't a fan of the McClellin pick, but did think he could be a nice, step-in, immediate contributor, for a team we expected to be in contention. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the O-Line in last years draft either. Although Martin has proved me wrong down in Miami. Two nice additions to the line is needed, think it'll be priority 1, can't listen to Tice again.
  11. To keep Jay and Brandon happy on some level, do we want Bates back? Or just flat-out change everywhere?

  13. Offensive minded head coach would be great.
  14. I'd like Gruden, no on Reid. From earlier in the thread, gotta keep Melton. Hate to say it, but unless Urlacher comes back really cheap, I'm fine letting him walk.
  15. Torreyes, Amaya, Hernandez.
  16. I like the idea of Gyorko as a 500 at bat utility guy. Think its a tad too much to give up for him, but I'd do it. Kind of think Lake could eventually fill that type of role for us. Lendy Castillo has sucked in winter ball, my guess is he's the next DFA.
  17. Yeah, Schierholtz would be the 4th OFer, just forgot Castillo for some reason.
  18. If yhe Cubs sign Bourn and trade Garza, getting Olt in the deal, I think it puts us as a slightly above .500 team. Trading for Upton at that point would put us squarely in contention. Granted, it'd be an awfully busy rest of the offseason and I don't expect all of that to happen. But a lineup of Bourn, Castro, Rizzo, Upton, Soriano, Olt, Schierholtz, and Barney is solid. A rotation of Shark, E-Jax, Feldman, Baker, Wood, and Villanueva is decent and the pen looks fairly solid currently as well. You'd have chips to trade for Price or Felix next offseason and enough financial flexibikity to make a run at Cano as well. I definitely think 2014 is a year we head into it thinking contention.
  19. Snider is younger than everyone on your list, other than Tabata. Why's it getting late for him?
  20. I'd say both get serious consideration outdide the top 25. Both are in my top 35 or so. We ready for 17, at this point?
  21. I thought we were picking 40th, at this exact moment? Was 39th, until Swisher signed with Cleveland, and a pick had to be added. There are 30 picks in the 1st round, plus one, for the Pirates for failing to sign Appel. Each supplemental pick based on the qualified players just cancel out: 1st round loses a pick, supplemental gains one. This only changes if a top 10 protected team signs a guy. After those qualified picks, then therr are 6 competitive balance picks before the 2nd round starts.
  22. Toronto's system has been depleted a ton obviously. Maybe Gose and one, of yheir TJS guys, like Drabek or Hutchison? Sanchez seems like the SP they've decided to keep. Osuna is too far away and lacks a bigtime ceiling. Not thinking the Toronto mention was anything more thsn old, recycled info.
  23. I do think signing Bourn would help Soriano's market. So would signing Marcum, in helping with Garza's. That said, I don't want to trade Soriano right now. Trade DeJesus instead. Make the Garza deal, then, how much more than Baez, would it take to land Upton?
  24. According to Bowden, there's a standing offer on the table for Soriano, that the Phils are waiting to see where Bourn signs, before moving forward on it.
  25. Neither Atlanta or Oakland is an ideal trading partner for Texas right now. Oakland is trying to contend, is in the same division, and likely wouldn't part with Anderson or Parker for an Olt-led package. On the same note, they've got no one else that actually upgrades Texas' current rotation options. Atlanta is looking for a leadoff hitting OFer, while moving Prado to 3B. Again, trading Delgado or Teheran doesn't really upgrade Texas' rotation options either. Garza would. My main concern with Texas right now involves them trading for Upton, while possibly getting Kennedy or Hudson in the deal as well. Or signing Lohse. Short of one of those scenarios going down, Garza fits them as well or better than anyone else.
