  1. Prospects are currency. No one in their right mind that is in favor of the rebuild is trumpeting that we're going to have a homegrown team or anything. All the Baezes, Almoras, Solers, Vogelbachs, and the rest need to do is make it a ways up the chain. My guess is most of our guys are dealt either when they're in AA or slightly before they even reach that high. And yes, with the track records and skillsets most of our guys have shown, expecting them to not flame out by then, isn't unreasonable whatsoever.
  2. Thats what he was supposed to have, but he tried waiting and seeing if his elbow healed on its own. He came back at the tail end of the year, so its basically "wait and see" time, to see if it was the right thing to do or not. If healthy, he likely would be in the 12-15 range for me, but I'll dock him 7-10 spots, in case this backfires and he loses a second season in a row to injury.
  3. Its 2/12 with an option for Adams.
  4. Two late night pieces of news:Passan is reporting Dickey for D'arnaud, with multiple other players going both ways is about to go down. Secondly, Mike Adams appears to have signed with the Phillies, 3 years-18 mill.
  5. If we can get Jackson this offseason, we can compete in 2014. Would like to add a legit longterm CF, but I'm not opposed to giving Brett the second half to see if he can be it. At this point, I fully expect we'll be trading our asses off next offseason and if you add David Price and Justin Upton(doubt we'd have enough for Price and Stanton), we can contend without splashing bigtime in a weak 2014 class.
  6. I only vote for one guy at a time personally. Johnson is my pick at 9, would have been 8th for me, after the group voted 6 in that exact order and Villanueva. Upside of a 2, should move relatively quickly and we've got more info on him than we do Paniagua. Wouldn't shock me if he sees Tennessee towards the latter part of the season. Health is my concern or I'd have had him at 6 on my personal list.
  7. If Soriano is dealt this offseason, the offense could be pitiful. One guy on the team would be expected to hit 20 homers and it'll be his first full season in the majors.
  8. Marcum said yesterday his goal is to sign with a contender. Sizemore's not going to be ready to go until close to midseason. The demand is still far outweighing the supply right now. Ross has 3 year deals out there and is trying to get a 4th, I think. It's not a pretty picture.
  9. Freddie Sanchez, coming off the injury, may be my favorite backup type left. Maybe we can get one thats not ridiculously horrible as a 2nd or 3rd piece in a trade somehow.
  10. Yeah, appease may not have been the right word to use there. What about Soriano? Keep him or what kind of return allows you to trade him?
  11. Torres went back to SF yesterday for 2 mill, by the way.
  12. Kyle: Just curious, in your mind, what needs to be done at this point, to aplease you heading into 2013?
  13. No one wants to hear excuses, especially on the 3 deals that were reported, then fell thru. Including me. Even if in each case one "could" be made. The "what if" card sucks. But I know this: There would be a hell of a lot less bitching and moaning about things on here if we HAD acquired Delgado and traded Garza to Texas for Olt, likely Perez or Buckel, and likely more. Those 2 deals could easily have changed our outlook on this offseason. It IS frustrating, not only to us, but the FO as well.
  14. It was 35-30, Brett over Paniagua and we moved on to 8. Maples isn't even on my radar yet for this, but the fair thing seems to be putting him at 9 and voting on 10.
  15. How high do you go on Edwin now? Does he get 5/70 after this?
  16. Kaplan tweeted we are in on Mike Adams(want) and Villanueva(wanted earlier, no need for him now)
  17. I wonder if Concepcion gets DFAd not long after the Cubans sign. I'd be fine with that. I guess I hold out a tad of hope he contracted mono long before they figured out he had it. He was looking good in EXST at first. That also means he needs to recover fully, which isn't a slam dunk. My guess is his contract must force us to keep him on it though, because he'd obviously pass through.
  18. Marcum said today he wants to go to a contender. If its in the budget(likely is) I'd love to see us sign Sanchez AND Edwin and trade Garza. I'd think that by taking those guys off the market, someone would give us a nice haul for Garza in February, once he's throwing to actual players again.
  19. Yeah, I took this as his agent leaking it, to get the Tigers to up their offer.
  20. But Captain Meatball(Phil Rogers) had already brought up career win/loss record and AJ Burnett. The meatball can strike quick.
  21. As Mr. Rebuild, I'd up the offer honestly. I doubt we will, because it looks like his agent played us on this. But getting Sanchez would give us a damn good rotation. It'd also signify, in my mind, that we're planning on being good in 2014. It'd take a damn good SP off the market, possibly helping us gain an advantage on dealing Garza too.(if thats the plan) No loss of picks or anything, this would/could be an excellent move. Hell, if we got Sanchez, add a solid bat, 2013 isn't out of the question. I'm sure EJax is a fallback. At this point, I'll be disappointed if we miss out on both.
  22. Well that's pretty silly considering we didn't even have an offer out to Hamilton and he's already signed a contract with another team. Uh, thats my point. I've got 0% confidence we get Sanchez now.
