  1. Wow, Passan with a nugget from hell. Evidently Oakland was offered Myers straight up for Brett Anderson and turned it down. So much for buying low on Anderson for us......
  2. didn't think about it, until I saw Bowden, of all people tweet it. Royals should have gotten Moore, not Shields.
  3. Damn, Odorizzi and Montgomery too? Good lord.
  4. Tampa WAS an ideal landing spot for Soriano. Not anymore.
  5. Wow, looks like Shields and Davis to Royals for Myers and others.
  6. They'll trade one or both of Capuano and Harang. In this market, either on a one year deal could net them a relatively decent return. With Billingsley iffy, not to mention Kershaw and Lilly both coming back from injury as well, going after Sanchez or Lohse seems possible.
  7. Otani is signing with the Ham Fighters.
  8. The Dodgers gave Greinke a full opt out clause after year 3 and if he's traded at any point, he can opt out following the season.
  9. Yeah, I'd go Almora as well. I'd say the ceiling is GG defense, .300 hitter with 20 homer pop in CF.
  10. I only voted for Brett. He's close, if the swing change helps, he can possibly be a 3-4 WAR guy going forward. Of course, he can also wind up as an up and down type for the next 3-4 years too. Still, we've got no sure things. If I'm listing 7 and 8, I'm putting Villanueva at 7. Good glove, should be league average offensively. At 8, I'm putting Johnson. More info(albeit collegiate) on him and he could move quick. Leaves me with Paniagua at 9. Mainly due to the lack of info and his lack of a track record. That said, what Law has said certainly has me excited about him and I think if I had to bet on a current pitcher in our system hitting top 100 lists at this time next year, I'd bet on him. But for now, I'll still rank him lower. Need to see the stuff translate to game action.
  11. The term "doom boner" was forgotten as soon as McCourt left town on Dodger boards. It was replaced with "raging boner".
  12. The Ricketts family likely isn't worth a tenth of what the Guggenheim Group is.
  13. Dodgers plan to go after Annibal AFTER signing Greinke.
  14. I'll say no on Cedeno. I think Valbuena fills the super utility role for us. He's been playing 2B in winter ball actually. Could be interpreted as a precursor to Barney getting dealt, I suppose. If he is dealt, I think I'd want Kelly Johnson as the everyday 2B. Torres is a very nice platoon fit with DeJesus. That platoon and a Schierholtz/Sappelt platoon could yield solid results.
  15. Michael Young trade finalized. Texas gets Josh Lindblom and Lisalberto Bonilla. Sent 10 mill in the deal, Young gets a NTC, which Old Hoss Radbourne summed up perfectly- its like putting a Do Not Eat sign over a pile of feces.......
  16. Especially not when the Dodgers will give him 5/1 billion.
  17. Rank Scott Baker, Scott Feldman and Brandon McCarthy. Based on my hopes: McCarthy, Baker, Feldman. Stat-wise, I'd flip Baker and McCarthy. Going forward? I "think I'd put McCarthy first, but it'd be close. If we vet Marcum, Liriano, or Jackson, it's a moot point, in my mind.
  18. McCarthy was one of my top targets too. But honestly, how much of it is because he seems like a cool [expletive]? His total(minors+majors) IP since 2005: 186, 84, 105, 53, 118, 56, 170, and 120. Other than a 4.8 WAR season in 2011, hes put up a 1.8, 1.4, 1.3 and hasn't broken 1 otherwise. Like I said, I wanted him too, but I think a lot of it is misplaced, if you look at the numbers.
  19. We evidently were in on Ludwick at the end too, meaning we had offers out to McCarthy, Grilli, and Ludwick at the same time basically. Gives me an indication theres plenty left they're wanting to get done. Nice deal on McCarthy obviously, my guess is he wanted on an immediate contender.
  20. Trying to piece together the final product is really, really hard to do. If Soriano is dealt, you really need to vet back an OFer for him as part of the deal. I keep coming back to Dom Brown, Mayberry Jr, or Nolan Reimold. I hope we find a 3/4 for 1 type deal somewhere that saves us a couple 40 man spots. It seems odd they evidently told Marmol he'll be here Opening Day, could easily see us dealing him and cash to a team like San Diego for a Keyvius Sampson type prospect. Barney and Wood? I'll say its 60/40 one of them is gone before Opening Day. Still see us adding one really good youngster(not counting the Cubans possibly).
  21. Clevenger can be DFA'd though, likely sent to Iowa, and could be put back on if either Castillo or Navarro need to go on the DL. Until that arises, a 3rd C isn't really necessary on the 40 man, in my opinion. Personally, I expect one of Lake or Vitters and one of Jackson or Szczur to be dealt this offseason.
  22. Well, they're looking for another OFer, so I definitely think Campana is gone. Last year, didn't the White Sox try to trade for him though, at the deadline? He sucks, but I guess its a remote possibility we can get a low level flyer for him, just for his speed.
  23. Heading into last year, didn't we basically have this same variance? Soto/LaHair/Barney/Castro/Stewart/Soriano/Byrd/DeJesus with Dempster/Garza/Maholm/Volstad/Samardzija/Wood and Marmol/Russell/K Wood/Camp in the pen. Other than Dolis, can't remember the other two that started out in the majors last year for us in the pen. At any rate, wasn't it projected to around that 75 area, lending anywhere from 60 to 90 depending on how things fell?
  24. It was mentioned by Hoyer today that we're still looking for an OFer. And a RH 3B option. My guess is we'll add another SP and RP as well. No way does Dolis get DFA'd, but I can see Lendy Castillo(could see him slip through), Beliveau, Campana and possibly Clevenger getting DFA'd at some point. There are also the 2 Cubans we likely will be after and its possible they'd require a spot as well, if we get one. Surely we've got a couple of trades in us this offseason to help out with the roster crunch.
