  1. Damnit. Re-reading it, you're right. In fact, other than mentioning who we talked to today(also Boras and Close), nothing else as to whether we're in the middle of any deals or not.
  2. Don't take "no tools that standout" to mean "average in everything". Almora looks to be ABOVE average everywhere, with potential to be great defensively. This isn't Ronny Cedeno we're talking about here. While he projects as a ML regular, he has the upside to be a top 50 player in baseball, if you ask me. I voted for Soler, but thats a great summation of Almora. We're very lucky to have our big 3, is all I really care about. Won't surprise me at all if all 3 are top 20 prospects at this time next year.
  3. ABTY said we had meetings with the Dodgers, Rays, and Braves today. Edited rest out, misread what was said.
  4. While its certainly not likely, any chance we take two guys here? Has a team ever done that before?
  5. Theo evidently just said DeJesus is our CF next year and we're not opposed to platoons in the OF or at 3B. Also made it sound like we were closing in on a dwal for a LHRP and/or a nontendered player, according to Jesse Rogers.
  6. Soler's plate discipline puts him at 2 for me. No knock on Almora, although as was mentioned, the lack of a standout tool hurts him a tad with me.
  7. I saw earlier DeRo still wants to play, plus he's an unknown on this side of things. Getting DeShaies is awesome. A legit upgrade.
  8. 2 and 3 will be interesting. We obviously know who they are, but the vote could be very tight for which is 2.
  9. Sneakypower: Actually that post DESERVED fo be singled out. It was very lazy on my part. The Sheffield and Beltran comps have been used previously and I should have dug deeper. If I piss a post, I'll admit it. And I pissed that one badly.
  10. I think Concepcion will have a chance at Daytona as well, if he's recovered. Being on the 40 man will give him some semblance of an expedited push, in my mind. Personally, it won't shock me anyway, if he starts there. Recovery being the key obviously. Not sure if Johnson begins in Daytona or not, but certainly think he'll make it there at some point. Won't surprise me if Maples starts out in Kane County, they've got to get him moving at some point. Blackburn, being rather advanced, seems likely to start out at Kane County to me as well.
  11. Man, that'd be an interesting move. He ain't coming cheap. Nor would he come on a one year deal. I'm not even sure 2 years gets it done and he's 36. He's been lights out for a while though and I think Fangraphs had an article that made me think it would continue too.
  12. I thought about Wood to the Braves, but I kind of doubt they really want 3 lefties in their rotation. Maybe Minor would be the guy they'd possibly trade?
  13. They dealt Hanson already. Right now, they've got Medlen, Hudson, Minor, Maholm, and Delgado/Teheran. I don't see them dealing anymore SP. Beachy comes back during the season and they'll be able to. But for now, Graham or Gilmartin seem like their only SP trade chips to me.
  14. I want Casey Kelly from them somehow.
  15. I'm putting my money on Josh Fields.
  16. We're not moving Castro for Yunel Escobar to play SS for a year when Baez is still multiple years away and its still a question if he truly sticks at SS.
  17. I've got no issue overpaying for FA when its time and its an impact guy. If they do it like the Nats did with Werth, because they were totally sold, its fine with me. But I think signing a 31 year old(example) to a 6-7 year deal is dumb if you figure you're not making the playoffs any of the first 3 years of the deal(again, just an example). Honestly, it seems like they may be moving their strategy to contend, up a swason. Could be off on that, but it feels like 2014, instead of 2015, has taken precedent, even if theres nothing being said about it.
  18. I actually think he's a pretty big influence on Castro. Unquantified stuff, that plenty of guys scoff at(maybe even rightly so) but he's got value to me as only the 2nd true power hitter in our lineup. Marmol? Much easier to replace on the FA market, same with DeJesus. I think he's worth a Dempster type package if we pay the majority of the deal. Meaning Soriano, not the other 2.
  19. Absolutely. That said, if we get offered a couple of top 20 prospects from an average system for him, I'd just hold onto him. If we get a young major leaguer with upside or a prospect package at least as good as the Dempster deal, trade him. If not, what good does it do to get rid of him?
  20. No idea on his stats, but he hit his 4th homer today and according to TopProspectAlert, hes making a run at player of the league.
  21. Well, the more I think about it, Cespedes had his last two years waived too, maybe it just wasn't publicized for Kuroda. Not sure why, but I don't remember anything about Fukudome's contract. Tim's likely right, that we would have arb years, unless its waived.
  22. 1) As an outright FA, not a guy thats posted, I think he has total FA rights. Kuroda was the same way, same with Fukudome. 2) I'll whine myself, if Diaz and Alvarez are considered bigtime gets and we miss on both, because they conceivably would be "core" pieces, Fujikawa isn't.
  23. No, Vogelbach is definitelt the B, he was thinking of moving him to a B+ actually. His first teaser had 2 B's, my guess is he docked Vizcaino for the TJS, to be safe.
  24. Another teaser from Sickels, with possibility of some movement in the B- and C+ area. One Grade A, 2 B+, 1 B, 9 B-, and 16 C+.
  25. To me, if we can get a Dom Brown, Alex Cobb, Brian Matusz, etc for him, we should do it. We may not replace his production in 2013(who knows though, Brown may outperform him), but its enough potential involved to pull the trigger, in my opinion.
