  1. Any chance LoLo could play RF? As much as I want to see us go after him, if he's stuck as a LF/1B, we're dependent on being able to move Soriano. Granted, adding LoMo may get him to actually request a trade, I suppose.
  2. True, but he looked great at the end of the year in a relief role, leading me to think he's fixable. He's also just 25 still and being arb eligible shouldn't matter to us, should it? He's still got 3 years of control.
  3. Not that we're likely to agree on anything, but what exactly about Matusz is it you evidently can't stand?
  4. Soriano for Matusz, pay most of the cash. Wood/Vitters/Szczur for LoMo. Sign Melky, McCarthy, and Feldman. Add a veteran one year reliever and its not a bad offseason.
  5. Implying people have already said that? I'm a prospect nut, but Stanton? Come on, you give up whatever it takes, if he's available.
  6. Not really. But if we could pry away Matusz in a Soriano deal, that'd be nice.
  7. Would Shark/Baez/Vogelbach/Vitters be close for Stanton? Or does Shark make too much money for the Marlins to take him on? LoMo would be a great get as well and would certainly be much, much cheaper. Honestly, Soriano fits Toronto bigtime right now, especially if we ate a bunch of money. They're obviously going for it, maybe we'd be able to snag something decent from them.
  8. I tend to think, as of now, that 2015 is probably the most realistic year to begin to make a push. I doubt even the great Theo survives 2 more full seasons of horrible, bottom-feeder baseball. This team MUST compete. While I think we'll likely be awful in 2013, almost decent in 2014 and really good in 2015 abd beyond, why do you think they must compete now? They're taking advantage of a starved fanbase thats extremely loyal. This couldn't be done in New York or Boston, but I think we'll stay above 2.5 mill attendance no matter what. It's not like we've got some rich tradition of winning. In the end, whether we win 65 or 76 games next year, is inconsequential.
  9. When they backloaded all those deals last winter, there were rumblings this could happen. Never though, did I actually think it'd be a year later. Kind of wonder if MLB even lets them get away with it.
  10. Jason Parks just tweeted, in a counter move, the Red Sox are now trying to acquire the Braves.
  11. I think I like this for Toronto much more than I did for the Dodgers, in their megadeal.
  12. Honestly, the majority of this deal isn't junk though. Man, deals like this ARE one way to get good, really quick. I hope it's Tampa, with Longoria and Price, when its our time.
  13. Toronto went with the one stop shop approach this offseason. AA must want a few months off.
  14. The Blue Jays are getting at least Marisnick, Alvarez, Nicolino, Escobar, and Hecchevarria.
  15. Welcome in. He's likely to be cutting it close, in being ready for the beginning of the season. They could hold him in Iowa rehabbing, until late May possibly.
  16. Like the move, wish there was a 2nd year, think we'll add 2 more SP.
  17. Wasn't the general perception around here heading into 2012, was that we were likely a low 70's win team?
  18. Castro isn't getting dealt. If I'm Texas, I'm trying to deal Andrus to the Cards for 2 of Miller/Martinez/Rosenthal and Wong. As far as Castro's value vs Andrus? Castro has much more and it not even discussion worthy, in my mind.
  19. The tone has changed quite a bit on Puig, since he signed. Was it a ton to give him? Sure. But its not inconceivable he winds up worth it either. Don't know what side of this argument can use that its very likeky we outbid the Dodgers on him too, but he chose them anyway.
  20. My honest guess is Theo was pleasantly surprised at the amount of lower level inventory he inherited. I also believe he was surprised at exactly how poorly things were truly run prior to the takeover.
  21. Yeah, Chen should be in there. He's only 3 months older than Cespedes.
  22. Yeah, the Dodgers aren't 2/6 with this group. Cespedes, Darvish, and Concepcion were all signed before their ownership took over and it's possible we had a deal in place with Soler before they took over as well. The Dodgers are 2/3 or maybe even 2/2.
