  1. I don't think the Giants are the 2nd best team currently in the NL, but I think it's closer than a 6 win gap that FG has them at with the Dodgers. Partially because I'm not remotely sold on Joc Pederson as a 3 WAR guy in 2016 or Yasiel Puig as a 4+ WAR guy. For that matter, they're also cutting Crawford's 4.7 down to 2.4 in 2016 and I'm not sure that'd be the case either. I get dropping it some, but I think he's consistently gotten better, so a drop off that much seems more than excessive. Kershaw at 7.8 seems right, but damn.....He can have an awesome season and not hit that mark by 2 wins himself.
  2. They'll attempt to piece together things around him before they trade him off. He's still cheap this year and next, 9 and 14.5 mill. I don't think they'll even truly consider dealing him until after that. I don't see Fernandez going anywhere either until mid season of NEXT year at this stage, the more I look at how they line up. It's entirely possible the Marlins actually stuck themselves with Stanton's entire deal. He's got the opt out at age 30, with at least 7/218 left on it. Harper's imminent record deal will start pushing salaries on up quite a bit, but Stanton will need some health in order to feel comfy opting out of that. My guess is they'll trade him in 2018, when his salary hits 25 mill and he's pissed anyway that they've dealt Fernandez by then and are starting another rebuild.
  3. His coaches had just met with him today.
  4. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Man, even I'M horrified by this. Not overall man. I thought he was in the 50's for the Red Sox. I KNOW. I didn't remember him being there anywhere near 12 seasons, thought it 7-8 for some reason.

  6. Holy [expletive]. I honestly thought he was in the 50's. So yeah, I'd add him obviously.
  7. Mine would be your top 5, plus 7 and 8. What in the world? Not enough getting in? I honestly wouldn't put Sammy or McGwire in(I'm not a Sammy hater either). I'd leave Clemens off and put Bonds in before him, strictly because I think Bonds was a surefire HOFer w/o roids, while I doubt Clemens was. I'd put Clemens in eventually though.(and yes, I fully admit it's pretty dumb to not just put guys in immediately, if I'm eventually going to cave on them.) I think Edgar is supremely underrated and have no problem putting him in and I'd have no issue with Mussina, with his entire body of work coming from the AL East. Would you have put them all in?(on Tim's list)
  8. Mine would be your top 5, plus 7 and 8.
  9. Lazaro Armenteros Highlight Video https://t.co/GmVfjaknjW
  10. I doubt Alcantara has any value at all currently. Skaggs would be a very nice addition, but I can't imagine the Angels are giving him up for anything remotely close to that. Coghlan IS interesting from a value standpoint, but I'd think we'd be lucky to add a Sands/Steele type guy for him, much less a guy close/in the majors, even if he's coming off TJS. As for Coghlan, I'd like to move him. But only if we can bring back Jackson for a year. We do need a better CF insurance policy than Szczur, unless their comfortable already with Javy out there(which I doubt, since he's played 4-5 games total in the OF in Winter Ball).
  11. Dan Haren was awesome on Twitter today.
  12. That's something, but I think I'd still put him highest on my IFA wish list(for pitchers). Basically, the most recent report on each of these guys(excluding Morejon) has gone backward a bit. (Thanks for posting that Tim)
  13. You sure you're not getting Gutierrez and Ruiz confused?
  14. It'd be like giving up something of value for Prior in 07 or 08. Rose had played 100/328 games since his MVP year, before this season. Where he's 55/68 in PER out of PG's. At his salary, with the baggage he brings on TOP of injuries and rapidly declining play, there's no chance he's got value.
  15. Its out of the box. To me, its awfully excessive for a rehabbing pitcher(that's not TJS). Most likely would have to show either some real money too, in order to get them to go longer than a year. I'd be fine with either, on a one year deal. Although, I'd prefer Masterson. Maybe Mike Minor as well.
  16. Yeah, other than swapping bad contracts, he's untradeable. He's much closer to being looked at as a backup PG than as a max player heading into his next contract. Can't wait to see his camp once they figure that out. Noah won't get a big offer moving forward either, I know he doesn't really fit now, but I still kind of hope we keep him anyway.
  17. It obviously won't happen this way, but I wouldn't be upset if I never saw Derrick Rose suit up for the Bulls again Same here. I'm really looking forward to when he's no longer on the roster.
  18. Geez, what a performance.
  19. The latest stuff on Sierra doesn't sound promising. No good offers in hand, lots of worries he's a two pitch guy that can't start.....If he's cheap enough, I'd love to take that chance though. Reminds me of the same concerns with Iglesias basically. I think the top notch pen arm is my top priority, if for no other reason than I see us spending on IFA's no matter what. If it IS an either/or situation, I'd take the IFA's though.
  20. I'd like Smith too. My honest guess is a deal for him or McGee definitely has a top 100 guy in it, unless Tampa really values Coghlan for some reason.
  21. So who gets dealt to keep Portis in the rotation?
  22. 8 year deal. Only 24 mill guaranteed. Lots and lots of incentives. I can't wait to see what this thing looks like. 24 mill is all he got guaranteed though, I've got to wonder if the Dodgers were the ONLY team that covered the 20 mill posting fee?
  23. I would like that very much, though not sure how feasible it is. Rays are believed to like Villanueva and Vogelbach, though not sure exactly how much. Maybe those two, Coghlan and someone like Blackburn/Sands/Steele/Williams? It'd have to hurt more than that, I'd think. I'm not convinced Villanueva has value, due to him being out of options. I do think Vogelbach has a bit more value than what we typically think on here. But he's a 4th piece. After seeing what relievers are bringing in trade, I'd think Underwood would probably have to be put into the spot you've got the list of 4 pitchers. Even then, I'd wonder if Happ needs to be put into Villanueva's spot. I've got no idea how to value Moore at this point. But I keep coming back to that snippet too, that they're interested in Villanueva/Szczur/Vogelbach. If that grouping nets us ANYTHING, count me as happy.
  24. I guess Wood goes to the pen, if they're all healthy? Or with this group, is it possible Kershaw goes every 5th day, while the others pitch every 6th? Maeda is small framed, Kazmir, Ryu, and Anderson are injury risks, and Wood has a delivery that screams issues down the line.....Could that work? Or does it disrupt things too much when one of that group goes down? Would putting them back on a 5 day program all at once be scary to try at that point?
  25. Geez, I was coming to post that.
