  1. Ruiz is definitely the safer bet. I've got no clue where to peg the money on ANY of these guys honestly. I'll give it a shot though, if for no other reason than to see how wrong I am. Here's my half ass over/under on what these guys get..... INF/OF Randy Arozarena- 12 mill INF/OF Jonatan Machado-5.5 mill OF Jorge Ona- 23 mill OF Lazarito Armenteros(Lazarito)- 11 mill INF Miguel Vargas-8.5 mill RHP Vladimir Gutierrez-4.5 mill LHP Adrian Morejon- 8 mill RHP Norge Ruiz- 14 mill RHP Ronald Bolanos-10 mill LHP Cionel Perez-3.5 mill
  2. He was an OF, just started pitching in 2014. I think theres a good chance he'd have more hype if there had been more looks at him. I'm starting to wonder if he winds up getting the most money of any of the pitchers.
  3. Couple of things......1) There WERE rumors he preferred the west coast. So they may have benefitted from that. But 2) and I think this was more important.....Was when he was posted. His team posted him with a max posting fee(20 mill) attached to him. And most of the contenders that were after upper end guys had already filled them, by then. My honest guess, especially based on the contract he received, is that the Dodgers were the ONLY team even willing to pay the 20 mill fee at the time. Which would help explain why he got such a team friendly deal. He likely had no one else to negotiate off of.
  4. I don't like 2 solely because Cobb is coming off TJS, we don't know when he'll pitch(he did have it in May last year though, I think) and he's only got 1 year after this one under control. If healthy, I DO like him more than Odorizzi though. I love Archer, but do like Fernandez, Gray, Carrasco more. I kind of look at Kiermaier as overkill, I doubt he'd be as valuable for us as he is for them. At any rate, if McGee can be had for McKinney, I hope we jump on it.
  5. Phil Rogers came up with 5 trades between the Cubs and Rays..... 1) McGee for McKinney(I'm in) 2) Cobb and McGee for Coghlan, Contreras, Vogelbach, and McKinney([expletive] no) 3) Odorizzi and McGee for Baez, McKinney, and Vogelbach(he's valuing Cobb more than Odorizzi?) 4) Archer and McGee for Soler, Baez, McKinney, and Vogelbach 5) Archer, McGee, and Kiermaier for Schwarber, Baez, McKinney, and Torres
  6. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 2m2 minutes ago Once Maeda reaches 90 IP, he gets $250K for every 10 IP up to 200 ($3M total). He also gets $1M for 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th and 32nd starts. So 25 starts and 150 innings per year would get him to 7.750 a year. That's such a nice deal for the Dodgers....
  7. so it's 10/16 now. Do you guys that live there know which ones are still individually owned and if they're the ones that have been the assholes through all of this?(I'd assume so anyway)
  8. I like Moore enough as a bounce back guy, but only if you can get him without Javy or Soler. I even like Cobb as a one and a half year guy, in the same scenario. But Odorizzi likely DOES cost us one of those 2 and he's not much of an upgrade over our 4/5 now. I think its fairly apparent we can eventually earmark one of Gray/Archer/Fernandez to the Dodgers, since they won't stop stocking their system with Cubans. I'd rather hold onto our top chips in order to be able to get one from that group too, at mid season or even next off season.
  9. I don't have much interest in Odorizzi honestly.
  10. You're not even supposed to negotiate with guys until they've been cleared. It's a no-no, by the rules anyway. They're just retracting(probably a bit pissed the number came out literally on the same day he gained eligibility) and will still sign him, maybe not for the exact same 6 mill figure. The same thing happened with Soler actually....Sullivan reported we had a deal in place with him months before he could even sign. We denied it and all, but Badler and most of those guys stayed extremely confident it was basically a done deal.
  11. 5 year deal with a 6th year vesting option.....With the Marlins.
  12. Eh, my guess is Sierra is in the pen or in the minors this year. Outside of Kershaw, the rest of their rotation all have injury concerns. They'll likely all get their share of starts, in my mind. But I can definitely see them using Wood as part of a deal for a front line guy.
  13. This is it. The system will change before there's another opportunity. Maybe a draft, but whatever it is, it won't allow a team to do what they're doing.
  14. We'll get a couple of their leftovers.
  15. Sources: Dodgers and Cuban RHP Yaisel Sierra are nearing a deal. Believed to be for around $30M and would cover six or seven years. Passan
  16. Evidently Alfredo Rodriguez, a SS, was cleared today too and Jesse Sanchez says he's got 6 mill from the Reds. I had read they wanted to push him to next signing period, so it may or may not take a LONG time for them to announce this.
  17. And just like that, Badler says IF/OF Randy Arozarena is also cleared and eligible to sign. He's another 1st round type of talent. The list on page 14 is as up to date as possible, I think. I'll try to add which of these guys are 1st round type talents or some semblance of a blurb on them at some point soon. Edit- added a bit on some of these guys. By no means is it intended to be anything other than a bit of help to some that may not be familiar at all to these prospects. If I've missed an age, a reported velo, or whatever, I expect it. But the main thing is who all are considered 1st round talents, of which I think I identified them all.
  18. My honest hope is the Dodgers scouting differs from our quite a bit. Not just on Lazarito, but others as well. I REALLY want us to land some pitching, but I also want the pitching to start looking at least a bit more exciting than it does currently. At any rate, I want to see Ona, Ruiz, Morejon, and a few others cleared now too.
  19. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 5m5 minutes ago Source: Cuban phenom Lazarito Armenteros cleared by MLB, eligible to sign starting Feb. 10. Corner OF/IF, 16 years old. Sweet. Since he's getting into this class, based on WHEN he defected, I'm thinking most of these guys get put into this one now. By the way, the reviews on his showcase were decided mixed.
  20. Greatest thread title in history Jim Leyland's Phlegm
  21. The feds are still conducting their investigation. MLB won't conduct theirs until after the feds are done. A 2 mill fine is the max possible. Loss of picks and/or draft budget are where the penalties could truly hurt them.
  22. http://www.bleachernation.com/2016/01/08/2016-cubs-convention-guests-announced-including-ryne-sandberg/ Sandberg in, still no Sammy. List of guests and activities.
  23. Of course, I've seen a few blurbs that turn this into all sorts of knots, with the Astros also having Cards info. This is unsubstantiated though, from what I can remember. This appears to be the "Cardinal Way" of how to beat a criminal case though.
  24. Geez, I wonder how hard it'll be to prove anyone else inside their org actually saw this stuff? I'd think it'd be awfully hard, unless they're idiots, but I'd be shocked if he acted completely alone.
  25. I'm starting to think Dex ends up with the White Sox. 3 years seems the max they'll go for an OFer currently. Not getting Upton or Cespedes for that.
