  1. There's been at least a bit of talk that Starlin and Javy could be involved in the same deal. This is one thing that fascinates me about this time of year. You pretty much HAVE to have Zobrist agree, prior to making that deal and Zobrist then hanging you out to dry. Obviously, Starlin AND Javy wouldn't need to be dealt, but you'd think Starlin would at least.
  2. I'd prefer Tim's route of adding depth, like Sierra. He'd fit perfectly. But we don't even know when he's going to be available(I'd have thought by now honestly). The question becomes who else actually qualifies as "depth". If we keep Wood, he's got to be 1 of the 10 best 6th starters around, I'd think.....But we'd want someone else on top of that and not to where the Cahill and Richard's of the world come into play.... Henderson Alvarez would be nice(if he's healthy), but someone's giving him a guaranteed spot if he is and probably a pretty decent contract too. Dillon Gee? Does he count? Masterson's supposedly healthy, if he's a NRI type-I'd love him. Mike Minor falls into the same category, but I've got no idea on his health. I hate saying it, but I think Yusmeiro Petit would be an awfully nice and cheap 6th starter for us this year and it'd allow us to hold onto Javy and Soler.
  3. My feelings on Motte pitching for us were self taught.
  4. There have been rumors all day that Cubs were close to something significant, but only denials thus far on anything done for Miller. -Sharma
  5. I think they're [expletive] with him. Usually our "almost trades" play out over an hour or so. This whole thing went thru the motions in 5 minutes.
  6. Second sources says nothing close with Braves. Then Gordo......Son of a bitch. Lololol
  7. Source: Cubs close to deal for Shelby Miller. Braves would get Baez (after talks shifted from Soler). Gordo says its close
  8. Gordo brought up Gomez today, which is interesting. If we miss on Heyward, why would he be available? Marisnick isn't horrible, but I'd take Gomez in a heartbeat.
  9. Rondon/Strop/Brothers/Grimm/Richard/Cahill/Wood/Edwards/Ramirez With Rosscup and Patton as up and down guys...... Pretty strong.
  10. Damn, didn't catch it. That said, a fictitious dude named Parts may have as good of a chance as Parra does at 4 years.
  11. Gordo says the Tampa stuff seems to be coming from their side.....
  12. Parra is hopeful for a 4 year deal......
  13. Eh, most are acting like the Reds failed to inform other teams of it. Yeah, Friedman has acquired some serious question marks at times, but i don't think they knew of this.
  14. So you're either the idiot joking about this situation or the idiot that believes his trade value lessoning is more important than anything else evidently. Which idiot do you prefer?
  15. Wait really? Who the hell was he before? priortotheosomethingorother and some weird godzilla reference And wegotwood
  16. Hope not after the latest news. Ugh. I smell bargain baseball talent! Good God.
  17. I'm just worked up over [expletive] 1913. I'll never get over it. Of course, we went 88-65 and missed the [expletive] playoffs strictly because our [expletive] league didn't have Wild Cards back then. If we had, we all know we'd have won it all. And the amount of debate we've had on whether we'd have qualified or not if [expletive] Evers had just played Fritz Mollwitz(.857 OPS) over Vic Saier at 1B(.850 OPS) more often......God [expletive] [expletive]. It WOULD have made up our 13.5 game deficit and we ALL [expletive] know it. Back then, 7 OPS points was worth .437 wins per game and Evers wasn't completely sabermetrically inclined. [expletive]. So for me and many of us, its 101, not 107. Because we SHOULD have won that year. Larry Cheney suffering from diarrhea and missing starts......3 guys with early onset tuberculosis. Another [expletive] got the consumption. That was our [expletive] year dammit.
  18. While pitching and CF are the priorities, Jed said they don't have a particular need to add to the rotation.
  19. If its not hyperbole and they are actually talking to 10 teams.....1) Cleveland 2) Tampa 3) Baltimore 4) Atlanta 5) San Diego 6) Oakland(they have to at least ask on Gray 7) White Sox(Quintana 8) Miami (Have to ask there too 9) Mets( I'd guess its an option 10) Nat's (Ross?) I can't think of anyone else.
  20. Jed kind of made fun of the Twitter rumors just now. Said they're still talking to 10 teams.
  21. They've had a long time hole of some sorts at SS. They just acquired Miller, but I think the plan is to use him as a Zobrist type. Their rotation is Archer/Odorizzi/Smyly/Moore/Ramirez/Cobb already. And they'd still have Guerrieri too. If they believe in Javy, I could definitely see Snell being on the table, given their pitching depth.
  22. I'm pretty sure this is the first time its been reported, but it seemed like an inevitability all along. My guess is it basically just gets them to address it in the next CBA.
