  1. 91-92 FB, 87 SL, 80-81 CU. Struck out 2 of 3 hitters.
  2. KC said Butler is under the impression he's staying a Bull.
  3. It still pisses me off that McLemore and the 8th pick should be ours currently.
  4. Heyman thinks every teams TOP prospect trumps all teams second best prospect. Holy horsefeathers, the Miller to Giants deal is B2B awful.
  5. I wouldn't expect anything. There's a chance the Bulls could move up into the 5-8 range. But Dunn likely is gone by then. I can see Taj being dealt in a move up or for an extra pick. Guess its conceivable Mirotic COULD be dealt, but I don't see it. MDJ or Snell could be included in anything for salary or for a 2nd, I guess. If by some chance Jimmy gets dealt, I'd look at the best bet being Boston at 3 or Minnesota at 5 grabbing Dunn and then offering more. That said, its a weak draft and its probably likely we stand pat and draft at 14.
  6. I doubt anything is off the table. I figure MDJ and Snell are goners and I'd say Taj is 50/50 on getting dealt tomorrow night in order to move up. It doesn't sound in this PC that they're married to Jimmy either. But that may just be my interpretation.
  7. I'd be quite surprised if such a need arose this year. He's veering into that potentially elite territory, the type of guys that rarely get moved, and the Cubs simply don't have that huge need. Heck, I'm not even convinced they go hard at a lefty pen arm unless the price really comes down. If a huge need arose, or a top level guy's price dropped ... could I see it? Perhaps, but I think the Cubs would try like heck to utilize other assets (namely, Gleyber Torres and maybe Jeimer Candelario) to try and complete a deal before Eloy. I don't really think we should include Candelario's name in trade discussions. His value must be so low that he wouldn't move the dial in any trade that was much worth discussing. Why would Candelario's value be low?
  8. With trade deadline looming, would Cubs affect culture with certain additions? I asked Theo. https://t.co/fDUMzXm3pY I guess I've read my 5 articles, anything of note in this?
  9. It was both. He got it immediately and lost velo and command once he came back. I wrote him off as soon as we took him off the 40 man. Never thought he'd make it up.
  10. He looks pretty solid. Nice first outing. Yay Addy
  11. Pena is easily the guy I'd love to see called up. But if Richard is DFA'd, I'd guess Concepción?
  12. What most have forgotten, is his second choice was Corned Beef.
  13. What a savage. I love this guy. Contreras is going to bring out the worst in me, I assure you. Clearly you are confused by what a meatball is. It's a circular, meat based food. But that's not important right now.
  14. Yeah. Crow, Peralta, Matusz, and Nathan. Surely one of them helps at some point.
  15. Well, that sucked. But 11.5 up sure doesn't.
  16. He may have teeth like a Pleistocene grazer, but he's a hell of a FA grab for us.
  17. Miller, Chapman, Doolittle, Abad, McGhee, Smith......Are there any other lefties out there that are decent and seem likely to be moved?
  18. I don't think this is coincidence. There's a reason they've picked out the guys they have. I'd be willing to bet they've developed some sort of algorithm that's helping them focus on starting pitchers with a very low injury probability and damned if it's not working pretty well so far. IIRC, when Theo & Co. first got here wasn't one of the things they said that was a market inefficiency that they were going to put lots of time, money, and research into was how to maintain healthy players and keep them off the DL as much as possible? Yeah, they mentioned that as where the next big advancement could go. They just have to put up with a bunch of gremlins in Soler's hammies.
  19. I think we'll add a depth starter at some point before the deadline. Some sort of buy low type, like a Kyle Gibson or something. But I think there's enough lefty relievers out there that we'll get a good one. My honest guess is Miller stays put and we get Doolittle, with Soler as the lead piece.
  20. If so, there'd be even less incentive to attempt to improve the best team in baseball by a wide margin. Right...I mean, you have to take advantage of your opportunities, but in the same breath, the whole goal of the Cubs "rebuild" was to build a team that could dominate the division for years, and get a lot of playoff opportunities. A deep pool of young talent is instrumental for that. I hate to sacrifice very much of that at all for 2nd lefty in the pen. I figure teams inside our division would definitely ask more from us, but I'd doubt it extends past that.
  21. Oh, I'd move Soler in a Miller deal for sure. I'd move him for Chapman, IF Chapman wasn't a raging piece of horsefeathers.
