  1. 2 straight starts by Shields that have ended with a position player on the mound.
  2. Poll conducted by Murray Chass.
  3. Reds relievers have allowed 167 runs. The Cubs entire pitching staff has allowed 168.
  4. Shields is gone after a leadoff single in the 3rd.
  5. 79 pitches thru 2 well eaten innings for Shields
  6. I wonder if their fans are still pissed we're getting more pub than they are?
  7. All the googily moogilies.
  8. Hawk told me he can pitch in any teams rotation. Was he lying to me?
  9. Yeah, no need to add shitbags to our group, especially ones that look to be regressing.
  10. I agree, these are excellent articles, BP quality type analysis. As for the results of this analysis, I think it lines up with the Law/Parks scouting reports from when Javy was in the lower levels. He's going to be a project, if he hits his ceiling it will be very late. But that he does enough things well that he's very useful until then. I take what he's done as progress and with the way we're set up, we have every opportunity to wait things out and see if he can develop into a superstar in his mid to late 20's.
  11. since dex has been so good defensively, i'd imagine he'd stay in CF barring late subs, which is fine. any combination of almora, fowler, heyward would be hilariously good With Cutch declining defensively, I think we've even taken best defensive OF away from Pittsburgh.
  12. Looks like you'll see Contreras. He's looking like he'll sit today and after an off day, he'll play Thursday.
  13. There's some interesting questions to be answered if he does get the call. Does he play everyday? I'm not so sure he does. I can see KB getting some time in LF, same with Scissors. Secondly, does he solely play CF? I know this sounds dumb, but I could see Joe not wanting to disrupt anything whatsoever, when it comes to Dex.(baseball players are creatures of habit type stuff that is completely not provable) My guess is Almora would start slightly less than half the time, but be in late defensively in most games.
  14. Seems like its looking like Almora gets the call, if Soler gets DL'd. That'd be fun.
  15. It may not be the case, but it seems like Grimm is horsefeathering pathetic when coming in during blowouts.
  16. Thank God. Please no more posting horsefeathering W's prior to them actually being one.
  17. Batted 4th too. Which may mean absolutely nothing at that level, but I'm telling myself they like his bat a bunch.
  18. I'd love to see a report from his time at MB, but he's a 4 pitch guy. The FB is plus, with velo and movement. Can get it to 96-97 in short stints, but sits 92-93. Throws a curve and slider that flash average, but are(were?) far from consistent. Has a below average change. He needs one of the SL or CB to become consistent, in order to be looked at as a true rotation option in the future. The FB could put him in the back of a pen though, if the other pitch never comes around. But I'm very interested to see a newer report, as his success at High A could easily mean he's getting a grasp on a second pitch.
  19. Ah, I think you forgot they don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick this yr buddy lol. Only 8 picks in the first 10 rounds this time... Ha! Geez, I'll take it down to 4 college pitchers. Although, I could AMOST see them using every pick on pitching in this draft, especially with the large discrepancy in IFA between hitting and pitching. Still praying for a late Gutierrez(or Bolanos) signing somehow.
  20. I think that's the direction I'd go too. But my guess is they go with mostly college pitching. I'll guess they take 2 HS pitchers inside the first 10 rounds and my guess is they only take seniors in 9 and 10. Just not enough money to play with here, so I think they'll take the "boring" route. But......They've gotten to spend much more time on the 100-300 type players than other teams, since they didn't have to worry with top 75 types. I figure it'll be boring as horsefeathers, but they'll come out of it with a decent class once its looked at a few years later. My guess is 6 college pitchers, 2 HS pitchers, and 2 college position players inside the top 10 rounds, with 2 senior signs......
  21. Marquez' profile honestly excites me more than any other J-2 signing we made this period.
  22. What's Zastryzny's velo now? Is he still sitting low 90's? If so, I'm definitely interested to see what happens if hes airing it out for an inning.
  23. I think this is what Theo meant by saying we need a healthy organization. Because, in my opinion, we're one healthy, heaping horsefeathers.
  24. Weis was onto something a few days ago. In fact, I'd kind of like Welcome to our Year(s) Long Circle Jerk to be on the front page.
