  1. Almora’s greatest failure this year was making Yu sad and mad. Yep. I'm probably the biggest Yu fan and the biggest Almora hater on this board, but, again, horsefeathers Albert Almora.
  2. [tweet]https://twitter.com/dom_frederic/status/1176864184493060096[/tweet]
  3. Or you know, since it’s 6 games, it’s just noise. But if that's the case, we have to consider possibility that the six games where he was crushing it was just noise. How about this: what do you think he's going to put up next season?
  4. I get it. Bryant is one of the best 20 players in baseball. However, the likelihood of him staying past free agency and the fact that he has had 2 dehabilitating injuries 2 years in a row provides reasonable consideration to maximizing his value to help cover holes elsewhere. This season wasn't debilitating -- he had a bad (by his standards) August and then went back to crushing. Kris Bryant put up another 5 fWAR season. He's one of the best baserunners in the game. He's versatile defensively. He walks, hits for average, and hits for power. He's cost-controlled. There is no way they get back more than they give up for Bryant in a trade.
  5. Imagine what would have happened if the 650 PAs that went to Almora, Russell, and Descalso went to someone who didn’t subtract value offensively. If anyone’s curious, you won’t want to look up the wRC+ numbers of those guys. ETA: let's make it 725 PAs and add in Tony Kemp. Brutal.
  6. i honestly can't believe he's still employed. i remember thinking that 12 years ago when he was talking about rodrigo ramirez and adolfo soriano in the cubs/dbacks playoff series. He called Aramis “Lee” three times in a row in the horsefeathering playoffs against Arizona.
  7. Assuming health I think he’ll be fine, not lock down like the past but good enough. He’s still throwing 96+ and has the breaker. Yup. If they had just signed him on a normal horsefeathering schedule he probably would have been fine, even if it was just the version of Kimbrel through most of the 2018 season. I mean, yeah, but he was asking for an unprecedented contract given historical comps for his age and peer set. He ended up signing for pretty much where he should have.
  8. Is that like being the tallest midget? Utah had a legit defense and he had a good game against them, but yeah.
  9. Hiring Lovie Smith was a small market move? It was a high risk/high reward move but given his salary, it was not a small market move. It was the wrong move but not a cheap one. Lol hiring Lovie Smith's Dead Ass to coach a college team was never a high reward move.
  10. Are you watching the game? He K’d looking on a clear ball earlier.
  11. We’re gonna clinch the division at Busch, aren’t we.
  12. #best40 It’s sad that Russell isn’t even close to the worst on the 40.
  13. It's a quote, though, so this is actually on Theo. Lol, what? Don’t judge man. You didn’t here it.
  14. I'm rooting for a multi-way tie for the last WC spot. Imagine we let the Mets and Phillies back into it too and we can have a four-way play-in just to get to the play-in. We know.
  15. last 10 starts excluding today 60.1 IP 2.69 ERA .199 BAA 79K 4 BB
  16. Gleyber this season: 36 HR, .896 OPS Gleyber against Baltimore: 13 HR, 1.512 OPS
  17. Oh no, they've won 9% more games than us in the 3 seasons after we ran through them en route to winning a WS. Kyle, are... are you actually Clayton Kershaw?
  18. What are the conditions of the 5th round pick? For the Jordan Howard trade? I was looking at that last week and I couldn't find anything other than "Based on unknown performance metrics" No, for the Mack trade.
  19. What are the conditions of the 5th round pick?
  20. You can be disappointed in how this season is going, but 5 straight playoff appearances is objectively a big horsefeathering deal.
  21. He was a really really good defender with some power who otherwise wasn't a black hole offensively. 100% a valuable player at ages 20-21 and under team control.
  22. I'm just going to say it. I'm cool with Chatty on the playoff roster over Cole.
  23. Oh, they aren't going to keep up their 21/26 stretch or whatever?
  24. I feel like they have Singletary narrate a lot of these.
