  1. ive never really heard anyone say it any other way than just saying the actual words "frequently asked questions."
  2. Still don't get why people don't just say the letters in GIF like every other 3 letter acronym (USA, GOP, NBA, LED, POW, etc).
  3. His most recent quote was him being a good employee. He didn't just change his mind and not want to be a starter again within a handful of months for no reason. I mean, I guess if I squint realllly hard I can see him just saying this if he wants people to stop asking him about it. But on the surface, it sounded pretty clear like he just didn't want to start. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2013/12/08/aroldis-chapman-wont-be-a-starter/3909963/ I'm not saying he couldn't be swayed at some point, but I just don't think he's interested in putting his arm under the most stress it's ever been under in years right before he hits free agency and is still going to cash in.
  4. So in other words, his most recent quote says he still just wants to close. Which I could see why he doesn't want to make such a drastic change in the year before he gets his payday. The author argues he could get an extra $50 million as a starter, but still expects him to throw 103 mph and not blow his arm out. And I'd argue his payday is going to be north of the $50 million cap the author currently suggests it's at.
  5. Bradley looks like he has reverse splits. .307/.390/.528 vs lefties .221/.308/.483 vs righties
  6. The fact that Zimmerman had his worst year (in a contract year) in awhile right around the the exact time when some people think the life expectancy of a Tommy John arm expires scares the hell out of me.
  7. Really don't want Zimmerman. Down year combined with the fact that he'll be entering year 7ish after his first TJS makes me scared. A lot of people give TJ arms 8 years before they break again. I don't know how accurate that is, but it scares me enough to stay away from a longterm deal considering 2 TJS is usually a death sentence.
  8. Wasn't that basically in response to "David, do you think it would be special for the Cubs to win the World Series?" Eh probably. No idea, but that sounds likely. Nah, it was the opposite, which is why it was such a big deal at the time. The question was if Price would like to be traded to a team that's winning now or one that he could stay with for years of winning (this was in '14 when we were sucking). He then said he had 2 teams in mind that he declined to name and then went on to bring up the Cubs himself. http://m.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/birdland/price-thinks-chicago-would-be-coolest-city-to-win-a/article_31c480ac-ec6e-557e-8a36-e393b77cba1e.html?mobile_touch=true Edit: maybe davell's quote was a different one from this year, but this was the original one that started it off and was pretty much the same.

  10. We are still on the hook for 11 million for EJax too, right? (Edit: yeah)
  11. His neck is too long and his shoulders are too narrow, that's enough. He looks like the bastard child of Don Mattingly and Lindsay Lohan. He looks like the bastard child of Jed Hoyer and a jersey shore whore.
  12. I posted this in the last thread, but I'll post it again: Last 28 days (20 games) LaStella is hitting .371/.425/.514. He ain't a problem.
  13. butters where art thou ride the soccer wave
  14. No Oh he absolutely is. He's useless. Except for all those times he was useful. None of which have been in the last month Fangraphs has his last 28 games as .371/.425/ .514 lol
  15. Hoping his last start was signs of fatigue and not just randomless. I'm really ready for a dong party too.
  16. http://atmlb.com/1QBKtiB I don't know if this was posted, but it's a REALLY well done montage of the NLDS with some behind the scenes lockerroom stuff, on field cameras, etc. Chanting "Safety Squeeze!" Was pretty awesome after game 2. And theres a view of the Schwarber homerun that actually stays on him for awhile. No massive batflip as I hoped, but still awesome.
  17. Yeah, Matz certainly has the potential to be dominating, but if we can eek one out tonight and head into tomorrow up 1-0 with Arrieta vs. Matz, I'll be a pretty happy dude. That said, I wonder if they start Matz if they win tonight and Syndergaard if they lose.
  18. Maybe i'm reading too much into it, but after watching all of Terry Collins' interviews he really sounds like he was prepping the media for no Syndergaard in game 2. Nothing definitive obviously and it will depend on how he feels, but he was really insistent on mentioning Syndergaard felt pretty sore for a few days after his last start and that he threw the equivalent of a full games worth of pitches in the pen. Said if he's sore at all then he wouldn't pitch in game 2. Could be pretty huge for us given his home/road splits. I'd rather face all the superstuds at home where the crowd could really throw them off their gam.
  19. I know it was mentioned earlier, but suffering through the TBS broadcast was worth it to hear some of the broadcaster reactions to those dongs. The Schwarber reactions were great, but after watching the Javy HR about 45 straight minutes this morning, I'm pretty sure one of the guys audibly choked on something the second he saw that oppo dong strength.
  20. I swear Joe Buck just said "Josh Donaldson used to be a catcher in the Cubs organization until he was traded for Chad Gaudin..." *long pause* "...and Rich Harden the other player involved. We'll go to break!"
  21. All the dong.gif's for Cubs Twitter that this new infrastructure is going to have to save is going to send it crashing down in a few years. Or weeks.
  22. The irony in this post after all the 1908 stuff is outstanding.
  23. Dont think they've announced it, but I haven't heard anyone mention anyone other than Syndergaard. He apparently has some fairly big home/road splits so they probably want to do game 2 if they can.
