  1. I'm kind of looking at Martin as the catching version of 2014 Valbuena. Plus defense, might not hit for a ton of average but will IsoD .100. Maybe a little less power but also less Ks. Plus you get the leadership and twtw and framing etc.
  2. Guys, the OPS is fine, so stop worrying about Jackson Olt Baez Lake Bryant. Yeah, Junior Lake's 700 OPS in AA really had people talking. The only one you have even the slightest chance of making your point is Jackson, whose OPS was fine along the way. But Bryant's is amazing and pretending it is the same is absurd. Yeah, I'm sure no one was worried about Olt's .550 OPS in Iowa as a 24 year old before he made the team either.

  4. I was remembering this Sullivan tweet that made it sound a little more than it actually was.
  5. Didn't Theo tell the NY Times that we had a 70% chance of signing an "unnamed" free agent a few months ago? Wonder who that could have been.
  6. And trading him for Hamels (which still makes zero sense to me) is hardly the only suggestion we've seen that involves getting rid of Baez. My puzzlement is more with the overall negativity towards him than with a specific deal in mind. It's amazing to me that Baez struggled just like we all knew he would. We had how many discussions on this very board talking about how he would struggle at first and most agreed that it was good he could start in 2013 to start getting adjusted in a season that didn't matter.Yet here we are after he did what was expected and people are ready to throw him into any package. It just doesn't make sense. This x1000. We said this at almost every single level of the minor leagues in his first months, it just seems a little silly to put this much into him, know he's going to suck terribly like he does at every level, and then just trade him for a 31 year old 20-something million/yr pitcher with usage issues before you even give Javy the chance to do what he always does. In a Stanton package, sure, but not a 31 year old pitcher.
  7. Screw pitchers. Unless we're signing them or *maybe* giving up second tier Alcantara/Almora/Edwards types.
  8. Not that I wouldn't trade for him because we need a veteran bat, but it kind of surprised me that Gordon will be 31 this upcoming Frbruary.
  9. http://m.milb.com/news/article/2014110599981434/ I think we all guessed it but Madison is quoted as saying Schwarber will be penciled in at Tennessee next year.
  10. Kaplan is claiming on Twitter that Javy was still rocking the dreadlocks as of yesterday.
  11. Olney predicting Martin to wind up here. http://m.espn.go.com/general/video?vid=11819142&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22http%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2F8LvhVYY237%22%7D
  12. That feel when you put in a $30 bid on Martavis Bryant and he goes for $31 to the guy you're playing this week.
  13. I don't know if he changed tunes or anything but he said he loves Ozzie the other day on his show.
  14. That Marc Topkins guy from Tampa was on the Score and made it seem like Davey Martinez would join Maddon if he's passed over for the managerial job in Tampa.
  15. I met this guy before at an instructional kind of thing and the only thing I remember is him trying to name drop in a douche way that he was behind the success of Chris Coghlan and Logan Morrison. Mentioned Logan Morrison with a look in his eye like he was talking about Miguel Cabrera.
  16. CJ went 3 hitless with a K tonight.

  18. Give them some Chris Carpenter equivalent and we'll call it even.
  19. Well that was an insanely dominant stretch of basketball for Butler. Lawd .
