  3. poor mike wuertz gets no love
  4. somebody tell him you cant pull pitches 5 feet away
  5. are you referring to matt laporta? if so, no they didn't. porcello the previous two posts were discussing him
  6. i'd need to know your 3B and OF but i like the Atkins-McLouth side a little bit more. Atkins is always really solid and McLouth will be 20-20. Honestly, I don't see Hamilton being much more than Brad Hawpe numbers this year. I think he's overvalued right now.
  7. I don't think you've seen his away numbers. you'd be mistaken So...what don't you like about a .840 OPS? that he only has that for half of his games. there's so many intellectual allowances that people are making with the home/away splits for him. murton OPSed .260 points better on the road last year. so why isn't every team trying to get him out of wrigley field, where his production is obviously being thwarted? oh wait, he was +210 pts for his home OPS in 06. for what it's worth, derrek lee slugged .632 at home last year and sub .400 on the road. you look throughout baseball, and you don't see a whole lot of consistent year-to-year consistency in the splits. it seems most people have drawn the conclusion from no consistent year to year patterns in the BABIP and clutch hitting splits that they're flukey things. this has little difference. petco being a cavernous park helps people see past the inconsistencies evident in the splits though. and if we're to assume that the splits are legit, then we should trade the world for likely 60 2B & 40 HR slugger adrian gonzalez first and foremost. and there's the whole money thing. a gross misunderstanding of correlation vs causation is present in the khalil infatuation and road stats. josh barfield's certainly didn't translate.
  8. I don't think you've seen his away numbers. you'd be mistaken
  9. man oh man am i glad the cardinals passed on that guy for pete kozma
  10. he's just not as good as people on here think he is. although i'm not sure hanley ramirez is even as good as people on here think khalil greene is. he'd present an upgrade at the position of course, but no point in doing so if you're going to make the team worse in other areas. but seeing as i don't own all of his baseball cards and daydream about his long blonde locks i must hate the guy.
  11. yeah, let's include $75 million in the trade, which isn't even permitted within the rules of baseball, just so we can bring back the magical khalil greene. oh man i'm so excited just thinking about him right now
  12. worst slump of all: matt kemp you know its bad when youre benched for juan pierre
  13. gee i wonder if i can trade in my 93 buick for an 08 viper
  14. looks about right- that's an appalling offense.
  15. gio gonzalez and adenhart when they're called up in a month. kuroda, westbrook, baker, lohse, wellemeyer, villanueva, petit, jon sanchez, jurjjens, eveland are all guys i like to varying degrees if the league is deep enough. and i stress deep here. if you have innings limit in 12-team league, they're probably not worth starting. and of course mark prior! :D
  16. i doubt he'll be that good, but let's say he is. helton was a 10th round pick this year, would a player with similar performance warrant keeping? of course i'm assuming it's the usual 5-6 keepers allowed.
  17. L. Hawkins 0.2 6 6 6 0 0 1 31.50
  18. Nice Pittsburgh blast there at the end. I don't know what their TV announcers are like because I don't live there anymore, but the radio PBP guy, Mike Lange, is widely regarded as one of the best in the business. I can understand your bitterness towards Pittsburgh seeing as how we swept you last season and worked you last night. I really hope we draw the Flyers in the first round. i really don't care about the pens. their fans are the ones who hate the flyers; the pens fall a distant third on our hate chart. aside from cindy crosby - who, the other 29 teams in the league realize, is very good at starting battles and letting other people finish them for him - i don't really hate anyone on that team either. as for last season, you helped us be bad enough to get the #2 pick in the draft and open the organization's eyes that they were sorely lacking in speed and offensive talent. so thanks for sweeping us last year; it really did us a favor. there have been studies done saying that certain markets like "homer" announcers and certain markets like more unbiased announcing, and pittsburgh definitely falls under the cities that prefers homers. i thought mike lange knew what he was talking about, but when you're bitching about "spearing" when he's clearing try to dig the puck loose from between a player and the boards, i don't know what to say. a guy who has called the game for that long should know the difference. i don't know why you'd want to play the flyers in the first round. we're as talented (albeit poorly coached) as any team in the east, and we've had good success this year against the pens. the craps are a much easier first round draw. i can't think any team would want to face the capitals right now.
  19. Keeper. Sleeper. Keeper as in a player that may not be an awesome fantasy player this year but has a good shot of being one in the future. Sleeper as in a player that not many people would expect to be good and thusly would be available via the waiver wire. right, and that doesn't change what i said. i can't really imagine barton ever being fantasy relevant in a 5x5 and miller's a long ways away from even being startable. It's a 20 team keeper league. .340, 18, 75, 75, 0 is certainly relevant. Miller, well, IT'S A 20 TEAM LEAGUE. .340??!?
  20. That's just silly. Once Toronto falls out of playoff contention, they'll be itching to get rid of Burnett. If he's healthy and pitching well, he'll opt out of his contract at the end of the season, and they wouldn't get any compensatory draft picks for that. If he's not healthy at the end of the season, he wont exercise the opt-out, which puts Ricciardi (whom has already publicly traded jabs with Burnett) in the situation of having an injured ace making twelve million for each of the next two years. Burnett's contract is going to screw Toronto one way or the other. Letting Ricciardi name his price would be utterly foolish. Play hardball in negotiations and walk away with a good chunk of your top-tier talent still intact instead. i know what you're saying, but there's going to be plenty of interest from other teams for him come july. i'd be sure to come out on top in the sweepstakes, he means that much. and besides that, we don't have too many prospects i'd hate to lose.
  21. if we've got designs on the playoffs come july i'd really let ricciardi or beane name their price in prospects for Burnett or Harden. we only have 1 guy in the rotation who can be overpowering in a playoff atmosphere. i know Hill has flashes of brilliance, but I don't feel good about having him as the #2 in a short series. Burnett and Harden inspire a lot more confidence and that's worth a whole lot to me. it's not like we don't have a full stable of pitchers who can start if one gets hurt.
  22. sure i'll do it
  23. yeah they're really going to regret having him under their control throughout his prime. lord knows years 26-31 are when players start to really suck and make you regret signing them. i'll give you a break though, i'm sure you just read others opinions on contracts and tried making your own conclusions. Breaking News: Cubs sign first round pick to a 6-year ameteur contract "wow 6 years is a bit much..."
